u say music must be relaxing... well... so u should listen to classic music or Bob Marley etc. please don't listen to Iron if u hate them ( I'm sorry for my bad English)
its true man, you dont need to go check all your dvds xDD. I read that like everywhere, and its also in the dvd. Also in revelations in live after death, when bruce stops playing the clean part you can still hear the guitar going, and the funniest thing is that bruce didnt have both hands on the guitar at that very moment. So they edited that part to make it sound full
dude, the live after death dvd was edited like hell. They even took solos from other concerts and put them in this dvd cause they were better, so they probably took a chorus from another concert and put it in the dvd
We renamed this song after our droopy Mastiff dog "Nico"...The Drooper!!! (my gf always spoils Nico by sprinkling parmesan cheese on her dog food and cooking her eggs for breakfast) "Sprinkle cheese on my bowl of food, Make me an egg and I'll eat it too..."
@dantinez you're right!!I love them both but I can't stand stupid 12 year old boys who only know master of puppets comparing them!! metallica will never reach the composing magnitude of phantom of the opera for example! UP THE IRONS!
just naming them in that same sentence is a blasphemy,is not a argument,is pure logic,a guy farting through a trumpet sounds better than those shitty mtv and disney bands of course
Powerslave (Dickinson), Charlotte the Harlot (Murray), Gangland (Smith/Burr), Revelations (Dickinson), Flight of Icarus (Dickinson/Smith), Sun and Steel (Dickinson/Smith), 2 Minutes to Midnight (Dickinson/Smith), Back in the Village (Dickinson/Smith), Flash of the Blade (Dickinson), Wasted Years (Smith), Sea of Madness (Smith), Stranger in a Strange Land (Smith), Moonchild (Dickinson/Smith)... Need I say more?
andjusticeforall824 one last thing. I practice everyday fo 3 to 4 hours, I have 3 CD's coming out, 1 is already done, I have also built my own custom bass guitar from scratch. I have played in an orchestra, and have played in England, and all over Canada in bands, and I've also toured in the mid 90's, and today I continue to still do all of that. What have you done beside shoot off your inexperience big mouth as you sit on your couch playing other people's songs.
bruce isn't called "the air raid siren" for nothing he has for 27 years, been reckoned amongst the top ten singers "scream for me" is attributed to him the way he handle his voice contributed to the world wide recognition iron maiden has today the way waves his hand up n' down in the air when he sings, is a way utilize oxygen optimally when singing difficult parts if you think that the AAAAAAahH in the beginning of the trooper is silly, then you are just a go-with-the-flow fan
1:45 'We hurdle bodies - another round - but so far away' -- on live ALBUM version this to me always sounded dubbed in from the studio vocal. Bruce is struggling with pitch and clarity right before this part, then 'sings' these 3 lines perfectly. Weird! No overdubs on this filmed performance which is a different night's show.
A perfect example of what just a pair of guitars, a bass and drums can do when used properly. I'll be willing to bet cash that Justin Bieber will never be able to play like these true musicians. (Which Bieber is not, never has been, and never will be!!) Anyway, I must've broken the laws of rock twice uttering the evil surname of ' He Who Must Never be Named.'
Up the irons, First maiden show, powerslave, last maiden show, chicago '08, for somewhere back in time. Same Maiden songs, less stage theatrics from the set of Eddy. Still Maiden. I think a new album is in the works based upon Harris going into the studio during the back in time tour, documented on Flight 666 videos.
tbh I thought the whole Maiden vs Metallica debate was ended by Flight 666, with pretty much every member of Metallica saying that Maiden dick them, and that they are a massive inspiration to them. So there. Go watch it if you dont believe, its true. \m/ Up the Irons Forever! And also hooray for DM not being a stinking pile of shit \m/
80's metal stage presence is so funny by today's standards. You'd think someone told Bruce Dickinson that there was a sniper in the crowd and they'd kill him if he stopped moving his arms. Don't get wrong though - this is without a doubt my favorite live album of all time.
Iron maiden are great. The drumming is fucking solid and drives the beast. Bruce has an amazing vocal range. Dave and Adrian write FCUKING GREAT RIFFS AND SOLOS and the bassist is outstanding, his fills and triplet riffs are awesome and drive the band as muc h as the drums
i love this shit (grew up on it) when i was learning it the guy that tought me told me to learn blues then learn this (he was right if you go here rirst you wont learn why we have to distinct sols in the same frame of fucking awesome music!!!!!!!!!
@starsnbars3 LOL quote 1 word in there that says spandex is gay i like spandex it looks cool it suits metal.....what i did say was gay was dave murry's black and blue bee patterned suit witch he wore on the world slavery tour
@xDIStructorx lol dude spandex is awesome im nt gay and i dnt hve any strange fantasies bout men but spandex looks cool jeans and t shirt doesnt suit maiden i mean singing aces high in a pair of jeans and a t shirt.......nt going to work
rofl i don't even play bass but i know there important to real bands. Just listen to Steve Harris own on his in this song. Some bass players are unnecessary for bands. But like in Maiden bassists create better music with a combination of music and guitar...
yeah, yeah, i've thought much about that Bruce-guitar-revelation thing, and actually asumed that there never were any mic nor amp connected to his guitar, and that that part was playback. Your suggestions to the puzzle sounds very fair!
sounds fair; i'm gonna check out my old VHS Video, to see if there's any back up at those particular four seconds of the song. It actually may be H, but taken and added from another part of the song. Thanks for resonable tip
what do you think people who will be born in 2030 think about this The Trooper Video in 2050? I mean this Iron Maiden band is just impregnable with all their fantastic songs produced in the 1980-1989, not the least The Trooper
Metallica to Maiden are two differant types of music. Maiden has a unique style differant from the mainstream, unique all to them selves. Metallica to maiden is like apples to oranges, yes same type, but so differant.
sorry me friend, check out 2:04-2:07, Adrian is not close to mic at that moment (my strong guess is that Bruce is backed up by play back, H and Steve, but att that particular moment - it's just Bruce and playback)
@fcrim I don't understand all that hatred, but regardless, Master of Puppets (the album) is a masterpiece, and they have great songs on Lightning and kill em all aswell. Why can't people just enjoy it all?
@GL0CK19onboard Dude, you need to do some music research. I'm from usa but realize Brits took black blues and took it to the next level in the 60's. Thank god we got is back with Hendrx and later SRV.
There's a defined line between the two. James & Kirk's playing is heavier and thicker. Dave and Adrian's playing is faster and more complex. That's just my take. Both killer sounding groups, though.
@slash249 Not really. I can name 50 Iron Maiden songs that are better than The Trooper. It's their most famous song, but hell not the best. Still is great, though.
@dantinez I agree with you, but don't even bother putting Mettalica in the same sentence as Maiden. Mettalica is pathetic, they're absolute main stream American sell outs.
Unresolved mysteries: "Who backs up Bruce at2:04-2:07? H? No, guitarring! Steve? No, not close enough to mic! Eddie? Playback recording? - Yes? Nicko? Probably not!
@blamongo8 Your lucky you saw them in their prime. I saw them perform this amazing song in 09 in Ft. Lauderdale and in 2011 in Tampa both great performances.
@JohnQuincyAdams1 They don't have 4 guitarists. At this time it was Dave Murray and Adrain Smith but later on Janick Gers also joined so 3 guitarists nowadays.
@ernkopf11 Where do you even come up with that comparision???? Please tell us you got a little Sister otherwise this would be way too embaressing. lol. cheers
Love it. The guitarist is like " Am i doing it right" The other one is like "hell yeah you are!" 0:33. Bassist is just slayin it and bruce is wavin that flag
People are saying Maiden is overrated?? In the vast landscape of mediocre fucking bands nowadays, you are saying MAIDEN is overrated? You can't be serious. Half the new bands out there today wouldn't even exist if it wasn't for Maiden, Slayer and Metallica. The other half depended on Megadeth and Anthrax. Maiden overrated? Please. That is talent at it's peak up there, gentlemen.
2:10 best Adrian Smith solo ever!
u say music must be relaxing... well... so u should listen to classic music or Bob Marley etc. please don't listen to Iron if u hate them ( I'm sorry for my bad English)
A truly talented group of muscians...Every one of them outstanding, this stuff never get's old....Long Live Iron Maiden!!
Steve Harris is a legend...the bass rhythms he's created with maiden are legendary stuff...just awesome
23 people are constipated enough, so that they can dislike this song....
Jas On Make that 24
+Daniel Maguiremake it 25
O melhor show da história!!!
they are gods!.
I like the moves of Adrian smith when he's soloing.

yeah obviously some of it is going to sound similar but he does not play that similar part to the guitarist except maybe the intro and outro
Well, the concert they played was original. But they just edited on the dvd to make it better. But that night everything was perfect
My graduation gift was to see Iron Maiden back in 08 when they did their "Somewhere Back in Time" tour. Best thing ever!!!! \m/
Welll well all metal or at least ALMOST all metal sucks anyway. It's a war genre... don't expect me to listen to it. :(
STEVE HARRIS IS GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
@stiggyh, your kidding, right? They are the farthest thing from buttrock!!! But at least you like 'em!

@BlackenedThunder
It's not their most famous song, The Number Of The Best wears that particular crown. We do agree though, The Trooper still is great.
Let's all face it, IRON MAIDEN rules the Earth!!
Nicko's foot doesn't cease to amaze, even 30 years later with no metal album having real drums anymore ;)

I love this song. The riff is slightly reminiscent if Burnin' For You by Blue Öyster Cult.

@slash249

metallica is not better than maiden.
maiden is not better than metallica.
Both bands are awesome. Maybe you prefer one, but both are equally amazing.
sorry does it mean after trooper's death because it is the same like original trooper
I just got into maiden, and I'm slightly confused with the singers...so...they've had like...5? and now they have one from a long time ago? right?
has anyone else noticed that he throws his arm in the air like he has no control over it at all every time he sings a line at the start?
my dream is for them to come to cincinnati im only 14 it sucks being young and in love with bands that arent part of my generations music
@GL0CK19onboard how about black sabbath, led zeppelin, the beatles, cream, dire straits, pink floyd, queen, judas priest?you want more?
about bruce's singing technique and waving of his hand - check out
"Iron Maiden - Behind the Iron Curtain Pt. 6/7"
- at time 03:35
what a difference of age..... oh my god... but the sound sounds is the same
Could just be my favourite track they've done and this version kicks ass.
@rati50 there is so much more.my dying bride, the cult, budgie, deep purple, the kinks, rolling stones, queen....and more...
The most known and influential guitar duo that ever existed in Rock. :-)
good thing bout maiden is they never swear or sing about dugs and stuff
OMG!! this live is way better than the Rio 2001, didn't see it before today, wow, adrian and dave are the best duet !!!
there is no such thing as "new maiden fan". your just a REAL fan ,and congrats .. you also have a brain.
Wellcome aboard
You know, dave murray like smashed together his solos on the trooper (of course) and die with your boots on on this solo.
i dont give a shit what anyone says iron maiden is the best band ever
Patriotic tubesocks, woman tank top, women hair, hairy pits and a drumset aranged like Mickey Mouse.... Iron maiden
why do people always compare maiden to metallica why cant you compare them to other bands like slayer magedeth etc.
@Vegan1Derek lol to me the same, just i have eyeless from slipknot =D
No he doesnt hav u ever seen his bass tabs?
This mix is so drum heavy in particular kick drum, not that I'm complaining. Any Nicko denier can take heed!
on record iron maiden kinda bore the shit outta me sometimes but i've gotta admit live they're fuckin awesome.
The riff for this song is just SO fucking cool. Definantly one of the more memorable Iron Maiden themes.
LOOK at the sceen closely 2:04-2:07
H seems to beeing busy with guitarr and
not with back-up singing
I still have Live After Death on vinyl :D
My favorite song is prowler the first one by them i ever heard been hooked ever since and that was in 86
I love iron maiden with all my heart but the intro to this was the gayest ive ever seen in dickonson =(
Adrian smith plays the coolest solo ever!!
maybe not the fastest or the most technical but the coolest!
Powerslave and Flight 666, are the best tours Iron Maiden have ever done! Am I right??? Yes I am!
I am not a go with the flow fan, Iron Maiden is da best, sorry i dont know that much about vocals..
10 people don't listen to real music...
i havent listened to iron maiden for like two weaks, i missed it soo fucking much UP THE IRONS!!!
@riotcstrike They are both fucking amazing, I prefer Maiden, but Metallica are fucking awesome.
Not much good comes out of England, or ever did --- except the IRONS....and maybe Aston Martin.
Sorry for the second post but It's kinda funny how the singer throws his arm up every high note XD
@Itachifan186 Absolutely, les pauls are awsome. Love the way he incorperates blues into metal!
@bassguy215 I agree, early Metallica was just as amazing as Maiden! Different but both great.
Nicko claims that using a double bass is "un- drummerish" meaning he is just that damn good!
don't like their show and this kind of metal...i bet Dave Mustaine could kill them all alone!
and u guys say spandex is gay look at murry's bee patternered blue and black shirt
nt cool
im happy i didnt get this disc bcause they all look like girls. i got rock in rio instead
The best live performance for this amazing song.....
Number of the beast is there most famous song well the one they got the most press on
no, dave always use a Fender Stratocaster, but on 80's he use a Dean, sorry my english
Yup, there's a mint green-ish one in the booklet for Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. :)
