That is true
The event of a car wreck happen in less than half a second, obviously no time to react. A dangerous situation/active shooter though? Unless you're the first target, happens over the course of at least several seconds for you to react. And if you are the initial target, you're either too injured to respond anyways with your chambered round, or they've missed and you have time to react by default. Encouraging people to carry a weapon at all times in a condition higher than most troops forward deployed is outrageous and exactly why guns are seen as so dangerous. Absolutely ridiculous analogy.

I’m retired now after 27 years as a LEO and I really appreciate that this instructor used a cover garment. We were investigators and did not wear a uniform, but some type of cover garment. All the guys would show up for firearms training and would train and qualify with no jacket. For decades I was the only one who always wore a cover garment. Getting the garment out of the way so you can draw is another level of complexity and you should train this way. (Train the way you would fight). BTW- about a year before I retired, the firearms training protocol changed to ‘You Must Have A Cover Garment.’
Even the uniformed guys should be doing this. It doesn't get cold? It never rains? You never have a coat or jacket to clear? Like you said, train for reality. Not just to qualify.
@@76esashby your duty belt and especially holster should be unobstructed if you are not undercover. Wear a holster that drops the pistol below the waist like of your garment. No uniformed officer is going to cover their firearm unless they are void of intelligence.
I was the only person that wore a winter jacket through my outdoor range training going through the academy. Every other person took it off when it was their turn to fire. Really I'm just a sissy when it comes to the cold. But now I understand that it is so important to practice as realistic as possible. You fight like you train. You shoot like you train. I was the only person who actually asked how to use my 5.11 coat around my holster. When I was on duty, all the new hires had no clue, and I had to show them.
Slightly unrelated but same situation. I was taking boxing/mma classes and would practice without my glasses, would get used to taking them off even though my vision wasn’t as sharp. One day, push comes to shove(literally), and I got sucker punched outside a bar, glasses came off, and I felt like I had 20/20 vision lol I ended up being able to subdue the guy. I honestly believe if I had trained with glasses on for better clarity, my eyes would never had adjusted to the real world scenario of fighting a target without 20/20 vision

@@elleuia3391 I don't see how it can possibly lead to a jam. You fire the round in the chamber and the slide loads the next round in the mag, just as it would if you racked the slide to insert the top round to load if you hadn't had one in the chamber.
I don't do it. If I need to secure the chambered round for some reason I like having the ability to do so. And I carry spare mags.
@@bluepill617 Both. I have ones with and without safeties. But at a family Christmas dinner I likely won't have to have instant shots on a threat, so I go empty chamber for little times like that. Just a personal preference.
There are a lot of sayings about this, one of my favorites is not having a round in the chamber is like driving without wearing a seatbelt thinking you can get it on right before a wreck.

Well presented. I am so glad that you cleared up the whole IDF empty-chamber carry. I get that one too often. I will say that when my kids were young, I kept my weapon's chamber empty while the gun was in the house and not in lockup.
Yeah being at home in the suburbs with curious kids around the house is different from being a cop on duty in South Central LA.

22 years on the job in a midsize city in the south , I was involved in 3 LOD shootings , I am living proof that gun battles happen quick & close, all 3 incidents were arms length away from me and all were over & done BEFORE I could yell " Drop Your Weapon" I would also add that all 3 happened between 6am and 8:30 am on a main street or road , Not a dark back alley in the hood And if I had been carrying on an " Empty Chamber " at any one of those 3 incidents I would not be alive today to write this comment !!!

I always carry mine with two rounds in the chamber, of course my EDC is a shorty coach double barrel shotgun but I digress.

This is entirely possible. there is a little pistol the holds two rounds of 22LR and shoots them (double barrel short snub revolver) both at the same time, so you’re not that far off lol

The only time I carried without a round in the chamber is when I first got my IWB Holster. I did that for a couple days while I got used to the fit of the holster, and it was more of a personal comfort thing then any practical reason. After I decided it was secure, wasn’t gonna snag when drawing or holstering, etc. etc. I carried with one in the chamber, and continue to do so.
I'm glad to see someone say this. I just started carrying and am currently uncomfortable with carrying chambered, especially because I am carrying a Glock. I do not trust their "safety" on the trigger as much as one right under the slide.
This is how I feel as well. For someone new I think it's good and normal to be unchambered in the beginning, until you feel more confident.
@@daltonbroderson6529 That's interesting to me because I trust a dedicated safety switch on the slide/frame LESS. I could more reliably hit the safety to the off position while drawing on my old CZ P-09. Whereas now, with the trigger safety, nothing can snag it and trigger it on or off until you go to fire. I trust Glock's safety more than the dedicated switch in a CCW environment.

Also, if you find yourself in an active situation trying to keep a low profile, racking the slide gives away your position AND the fact you are armed.

Panic, confusion, distraction and limited time can all possibly lead to failure when you have a couple of seconds to defend yourself therefore, it is best to carry loaded in the chamber. Thanks Kevin...
Great videos I’ve heard different answers from from different cops in my city some said you are not allowed to carry one in chambers and others said you can carry one in chambers I was so amazed by so many different answers .

Yes I do, my EDC is a glock 43x I'm a USCCA Instructor and I tell my students this all of them time about the safety of carrying one in the chamber.
Absolutely, always carry with a loaded chamber. Every time I holster the gun I perform a press check, to ensure a live round is in the chamber. Don’t trust things like chamber indicators - LOOK!

I work for a local law enforcement agency. Recently one of the deputies was in a situation where he was forced to draw and shoot. I've watched the body cam footage and I would agree that it probably occurred in 3 seconds and at less than 3 yards. The Suspect came out of a hallway with gun in hand and was raising it before the deputy drew his weapon. He got off 3 quick shots which ended the threat without killing the suspect, I have a lot of respect for the deputy and his training.

The most important thing that You said is that most attacks happen up close when you wouldn't have time to rack the slide if you didn't have one in the chamber.You don't always know when you'll come across a bad guy and every second counts if you really think about it.If everyone could see an attack coming from ten foot away then you might not need to carry with one in the chamber but if you ever had to fight off an attack with one hand then you can definitely see the advantage of not having to rack the slide.That's the biggest factor right there,time or lack of time to rack the slide.Good video and tells the most important reasons why to carry one in the chamber.
Plus, if you had time to rack the slide, the prosecuting attorney is going to argue that you had time to retreat!
As a police officer, I was forced to take 2 lives. Both times it was literally a race to see who would get a round off first.
Afterwards, I was glad of two things. One, that I had been with SWAT four 4 years, and had invested thousands of hours into training, and two, that my gun was absolutely ready to fire, because there wasn't time for anything else.

He’s so right about the Glock not going off when dropped while a round is in the chamber. I carry a Glock for this reason. The internal safety on the Glock is superior to most modern handguns. You can keep one in the chamber at all times with no worry. I also like the Glock because of the safeties. After drawing from the holster you can just pull the trigger. You don’t have to flip a safety so when there’s one in the chamber you’re always going to be ready to draw and shoot.
Any modern pistol will do that. I would even expect a high point to not go off from any reasonable drop.
I like my Sig p228, no external safety, double action. The initial trigger pull makes up for the lack of safety with the weight of the trigger pull, which you have to train for. I like it though.

Glad to know this. I just purchased a Glock 21 & have had some concerns with carrying with a round in the chamber.
I’ve been researching guns a lot before I made the purchase of my Sig Sauer P365x macro comp a few days ago. I have a nice holster and even shot 200+ rounds at the range and got a cleaning kit and cleaned the whole gun which was pretty fun. Still with that being said, when I’m out and about I don’t keep one chambered. I have a nice holster that covers the whole trigger and nothing is probably going to get in there, but I still get a little nervous. I’ll probably be more confident in a few days time and carry it with one in the chamber. (I’m still new so if anyone has any tips on guns and shooting feel free to reply!)
I have been shooting since I was 8 years old. I’ve spent 20 years in the military. USCCA made me a better, more informed shooter. Thanks guys!

Every 5 years there's a new generation of carriers new to the community, this and other points of survival weapon rules have to be taught like it's never been told before. Great video.
Many new gun owners or untrained users feel "safe" with unloaded guns. They feel a critical incident will have a lengthy time ⏰ or way for them to get prepared. This is total 🐃. I do armed security details & I'm a CCW license holder. I do not think Joey Felon or Donny Crackhead will give me ample notice. I do not buy or carry striker fired pistols with ambi safety levers either. 🚫. I had a M&P 1.0 9mm & learned the safety can shift ON or OFF as you move. A decent, quality type level ll holster & well made gun are what you need.
I'm new to the world of firearms. Got my purchase permit Friday. Watching all the videos I can and WILL take as many safety classes as I need until I feel more than comfortable.

After a LEO in Michigan experienced an AD with his 1911 in Condition 1 I Asked one of our armorers (U.S. Border Patrol) how that could happen it was explained to me that it is indeed possible since the thumb safety only engages the sear, and not the hammer as I had thought. After that day the only way I would carry a 1911 in condition 1 is in a thumb break holster with the safety strap snapped behind a cocked hammer.

When I first started carrying, I carried my P365 unchambered because I was one of those people who was worried about it going off accidentally... Carried it like that for 2 years, did a whole lot of dry fire exercises at home where I was pulling it out of the holster and racking it, got really good at it too! Then I saw an exact replica P365 blow-back pellet gun on sale, and thought, hey that will be cool to practice with... and bought it. So now I was able not only practice draw/rack and dry fire, but actually draw, rack, and literally fire at a target - this felt like a whole different animal to just dry-firing, and made me realize just how inefficient carrying unchambered was. Even since then, been carrying my pistol chambered every day.

thats exactly me. im good at pulling my firearm out and racking the slide, and pretty fsst too, been carrying for over a year now.practice everyday.go to range well was once a week but now about once or twice a month.dry fire practice at home. but im noticing im getting alittle arthitis. and racking hurts my hands sometimes. so its about time i do as you and chamber this S.O.B. ha.thanks for your story.. @@DavidHernandez-dk1zs The problem with relying totally on a firearm in all cases, for self defense, is that in close encounters of that type the focus is totally on the firearm. As someone who spent some time in defense oriented training, there are kicking techniques that give the extra time needed to get that firearm implemented with minimal interference. And that may actually be enough.
What carry position do you keep your 365? I am doing appendix carry right now but the gun is so small it can be hard to draw from that position.

When I first received my concealed carry permit I was exited but nervous. I did not have a round in chamber for a couple days. Then I felt I better get used to it and now am ok with one in chamber.
All trainers and videos I have seen said it is not normal comfortable to have firearm. But with time and practice you get better and more comfortable.
I started carrying without one in the chamber till I became confident enough with my training to start carrying one in the chamber. That said, carrying even without one in the chamber is better than nothing.
Solid advice! I tell my friends and family to do this if they are new to EDC, but only for a short time until they gain confidence. I also do this for a few days after getting a new holster or gun. Albeit I’ve had the same setup for years I still like to gain that confidence. When the day is over I like to inspect the pistol (striker or hammer) and inspect the holster.

Totally reasonable position. Many of us are not as well-trained or disciplined as we should be, especially when sleepy or after a few beers. Depending on your threat model and level of training, the risk of a negligent discharge may be higher than an external threat
@@pozloadescobar , true, and life happens. My ex had no tolerance for people not being fit. Of course, she owned and exercise studio and her life was exercise. Other people were building her studio, fixing her car, growing the crops and cattle she consumed. . . .
I did this and lasted all of 3 days before I realized I was safer with one in the chamber.
All I had to do is draw, aim, and squeeze.
What many don't understand is a lot of things can go wrong if you must rack before you shoot. Bullet can get stuck, chamber won't completely close, finger can be pinched, or that first round ends up being a dud and you have to re-rack.
If you already have one in the chamber, your bullet is already in place, chamber is already closed, your finger won't get pinched with that first round. EVEN IF that first bullet is a dud, you'll only need to rack your gun one time- not 2.

I do not yet carry except on private property but, since I was pocket carrying, I felt an empty chamber was safer. I now agree there should be one in the chamber especially if the threat is within arms reach because you'll need your weak hand to stiff arm the assailant.
I think It's a matter of redundancy: No round in The Chamber is ONE ADDITIONAL step to prevent a negligent discharge. It adds up to trigger discipline, appropriate Holstering, muzzle management, mechanical safety switches at the Gun etc.
It might also be one of the most reliable measures to prevent a negligent Discharge. However, as you showed us: It sadly is also the measure that hinders you the most from shooting quickly if needed.

A lot of weapons purchased in the panic buying did not have an external safety and the buyer had no clue. So once they figured this out the fear of the weapon took over and they either tried to return it or not have one in the chamber.
This is the equivalent of telling yourself you'll have time/be able to go buy condoms when a date goes unexpectedly well.

As an armed security officer in Australia, we fully loaded a magazine, inserted it into the hand gun, racked a round, removed the magazine and proved there was a round in the chamber by putting another round in the magazine. If you could not get the extra round in the magazine, the chamber was empty and the firearm or magazine was defective, and therefore, not to be used. It also meant that with a 15 round magazine, we actually had 16 rounds available straight up. Always had a spare 15 round magazine as well.

Buy a quality holster and quality firearm and TRAIN with it until your comfortable with a round in the chamber and capable enough to use it in a high stress situation. I was uncomfortable appendix carrying at first, but trusted my gear and trained through it. Things go to hell pretty quickly, so your reaction needs to be second nature and muscle memory.

I get from a mechanical misfire issue carrying in chamber is non-issue, and for imminent deadly threat, but didnt hear any discussion about if a physical situation occurs and in todays tough legal environment, and likely hand to hand altercation before you have reasonable justification for deadly force, what are best practices to defend self and prevent attacker getting your firearm with one in chamber? How are LEOs taught? Great video and channel.

Marine Security Forces school taught us to carry in the chamber also! We also learned to never let the firearm run empty! Example with a 1911 and a 7 round mag, after you chamber a round you have 6 rounds left. You coun 1 through 6 and change the mag. That way you always have a round for back up and never have to rack the slide in a firefight! You can use same principle with a rifle! And empty firearm can cost you your life!
I'm surprised they didn't tell you to keep one in the chamber and then top your mag back up. That way there you can carry eight rounds, even though you have a seven round magazine.

I was one of those people that was always afraid of guns, until I was jumped by two guys as I was leaving work, beaten and pistol whipped. And my husband said you're getting your concealed carry permit and I said ABSOLUTELY. My EDC is a Kel-Tec PF9, there is no safety, but the trigger area is completely covered by my holster. And I will never carry without one in the chamber.

Something interesting to note is that Kevin carries on the 3 o'clock position at his hip. I also do this as well, being a former police officer. I wonder if our training makes us more likely to carry on our hip, since its similar to how you carry while in patrol.
Yeah most likely. I wouldn’t want to holster somewhere else that I haven’t been as familiar with. So if I ever did need to draw I’m not reaching in the wrong place.

Hey some people are scared if it fall the gun will go off. Me my stove pipe always loaded. Am not playing around with these jokers. I work with criminals all day and what i do know is that they set the time of a robbery, You get to set how you react. Not having a round ready is setting up your self for trouble.

I agree with your frustration but we old timers need to recognize that every day newbies join our mix and they have all the issues that we had 35 or whatever years ago. We need to stuff our frustrations (however reasonable) back down and make sure they get the good dope. Just assume that every few years this will be a thing along with shooting someone in the leg, warning shots and the “fact” that a shotgun doesn’t need aiming...
I’d also say that if carrying with a round in the chamber is preventing someone from carrying period then they can take a few weeks or two months of carrying with a loaded magazine and an empty chamber to get comfortable with carrying a gun. During this time do three things. Take a good self defense with a pistol class. Do some extensive dry firing of drawing, chambering a round and firing vs drying and firing mimicking a loaded gun. Time the difference. Watch as many ASP episodes on RUclips as you can. After meeting these three or so criteria and the time has passed they should move to carrying with a loaded chamber. If they can’t do that then maybe take another week or two so but if after all that they are still uncomfortable with a loaded chamber maybe carrying a gun isn’t for them. There is no shame in this.
Real world self defense encounters are not like we have been conditioned by the “media” movies, TV shows etc., and time to draw and chamber very often isn’t available and/or inducing a malfunction while under stress is a real possibility. Carry with a loaded chamber is one of several requirements to actually be prepared.
@@notrobbie7893 That gun at home will do them no good, but some people dont think training is important because they have a license to carry, That is just insane. I agree with you, they need to get training, because their negligence could cause unnecessary harm.
@@Whitpusmc Well said. I also tell people to get some insurance, because defense attorneys dont come cheap. 19 dollars go a long way keeping you out of prison. But some people argue that its a waste of money until something happens. Its like car insurance, I would rather have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
Kevin thanks for another great video! Another aspect to consider is that military conflicts and military rules of engagement are different than civilian, and tend to happen at greater distances, and much of the time traveling in groups
At my base in which we had nuclear weapons we were authorized to use deadly force without question, and the base had an empty buffer of about a mile in all directions in case we had to fire. Yes, we were always in pairs or greater in restricted areas with fence and ground alarms and detection along with CCTV along the perimeter. The alarm tower I worked in was 50 feet up and armored to withstand 7.62 rounds at point blank range with bullet proof windows. I had a commanding view and as an NCO I was responsible to dispatch my teams to meet a threat.

It's the opposite. Carrying hot is like saying "I'm not gonna wear a seatbelt because I might get in a crash and need to pull myself out of the car before it explodes" while ignoring the far more likely possibility of hurting yourself and others.
@@chad9166 If you don't have enough trigger discipline not to carry hot then you shouldn't carry. Beyond that, every gun in my home is hot except for crack barrel shotguns and rifles because that isn't what you grab for self defense. Have a good day sir.
One thing people don't think about is confrontation is not going to be at a distance. You will most like be already at disadvantage as the non aggressor or physically attacked and in that struggle your firearm can fall or be slammed into the ground resulting in a discharge or it being stolen by your attacker. So manual safety still makes sense.
Might I assume one should also not have the safety on as that also takes a second to disengage before firing? I’ve been told to have one in the chamber, but to make sure the safety is on. I’d have to use my thumb to disengage before firing in that scenario. Thoughts?
I carried for twenty years with a round chambered 3o’clock hip carry & appendix carry without issues. It’s all about proper, regular training

Great advice, albeit it doesn't work well with an Ingram MAC 45 (my side arm of choice while serving in SE Asia)! Is it the open bolt that's the issue, or is there something I'm missing? Today's pistol's are super safe, and I wouldn't hesitate to carry with a chambered round in my shoulder holster (divided between my ancient Glock 20, and my S&W 629 Classic DX) or even a pancake holster (another consideration there). Cheers!

For me it's not so much an issue of time but the issue of how likely you are to have your other hand injured/protecting yourself, along with the extremely likely possibility of short-stroking the slide and inducing a malfunction while you're pumped full of adrenaline.

Retired military and law enforcement officer here. I always carried with one in the chamber like everyone else. Until one day the pistol in the holster fell off of a counter top hit the floor and discharged, striking me luckily in the leg! So since that day I do not carry with one in the chamber any longer except when on duty where I am required to. So all of these firearms experts and RUclips instructors that tell you to carry in condition one. Do so at your own risk! Mechanical safeties can and do FAIL! I believe that you can overcome the disadvantage of not having one in the chamber with training. I mean repeatedly over and over drawing, racking the slide and aiming until it becomes muscle memory. Stay safe and always carry!

Even before I got my license, I knew that seconds count in a dangerous situation and as soon as I got my first pistol, after some well needed practice and joining USCCA, I always carry with a round in the chamber.

Last I knew, Michigan law allows you to use your firearm for self defense if the attacker was within 7 yards (21 feet). So me an my brother did an experiment. We triple checked that my gun was empty and safe. Measured out 7 yards. My brother charged me at that distance. By the time I drew, turned off the safety, and pulled up, he was to me. You will highly likey never have time to rack a round and still be able to make a shot.
I would also add that in the event of a sudden assault, you may already be injured by a blow, a slashing, a gunshot, etc which may render your off-hand incapable of racking the slide. The aggressor may have control of your off-hand / arm, OR you may be rolling around in a ground fight with the aggressor(s) on top of you. You may be fighting for your life and if all you can do is draw and shoot, wouldn't it be much easier if the gun was fully ready to fire? Lastly, all serious law enforcement agencies conduct training which involves drawing, shooting, reloading, etc all with your OFF-HAND... This training is tough and it sucks, but it shows you the importance of being prepared to fight for your life when the deck is stacked against you. Don't stack the deck against yourself by handicapping your own response capabilities. Great Video!!

Nope, I've always carried with one in the chamber. When it's there an ready, it's ready to go when your life or the ones you love is on the line. People say there not comfortable doing that an thats them, but I feel it's best. One second can determine whether you live or die, or someone else lives or dies. It's all in your training.

This is why i carry a pistol in both hands, one in the chamber, safety off, fingers on the trigger, arms pointed directly in front of me and slowly turn in a 360 motion EVERYTIME i go for a walk. What good is a gun if your gonna have to pull it out of your holster, aim it AND pull the trigger? Might as well be carrying a paperweight!
PLUS, You have one more round in the pistol. When you load your magazine, then insert it into the pistol, you charge the weapon which leaves you with one less round in the mag. Remove the mag from the pistol, add the additional round to the mag and then reinsert.
I carry with a hot chamber because it eliminates any chance for the gun to malfunction feeding the first round, it prevents me from fumbling with a slide during an adrenaline dump, and also because I carry a Glock 17. I chose this for my daily because my first carry gun was a double action revolver and the manual of arms is much the same, with the Glock having a trigger blade safety. I carried a 1911 for a long time as well, but the thumb safety was more prone to snagging on my clothes and it’s just an extra step I don’t need during a life or death situation
I've been in a struggle for a knife while in the drivers seat of a car. If I had've let go I'd be dead. There is nothing anyone can ever say that will convince me to roll the dice that I'll have 2 free hands if I ever have to defend myself again.

@@keithjackson4985 for clarification, this happened in Northern Ireland, where I grew up. You can’t legally carry knives, but when has a bad guy cared about the law? Guy opened my door while I was parked and tried to stab me. I had one hand to struggle with him and the other to shift into 1st and drop to hand brake. Experiences like that stay with you.

The biggest point I make to my brother (who used to carry empty chamber afraid of it going off). “Has it EVER dry fired for the 4 years you carried empty chamber?” He answered “of course not” ……..
Ok then why do you think it magically will go off with one in there? He finally got comfortable (key word there) and has been carrying loaded. I also talked him into joining USCCA
I carried once with NO ROUNDS IN GUN! got so used to the lightweight feel of my Glock 43 I was distracted and hurriedly holstered it with an EMPTY magazine. Since I don't usually carry with a round in the chamber this oversite set me up with possibly fatal consequences. Now I carry with a round in the chamber always.
Hopefully with a fully loaded mag.
I have a 1911 .45 and holding it with no mag or empty mag feels really weird and the balance is off. Once I had a full mag it made all the difference in balance handling it.
It's a heavy gun for most people but I love that hefty boy and not great to try and conceal. It can be done either appendix or middle of my back. I'm a thin guy so it's kinda hard to conceal without leaving an imprint in my clothing.
The 1911 on the hip definitely says I have a big gun and will intimidate most people making them feel uneasy or scared. I don't want that going shopping making some good people scared. Now I appendix carry a Springfield XDS-9 3.3. It's becoming warmer weather and hard to conceal a .45 under a t-shirt without a big carhartt coat lol
Ive had this argument with ppl before. My loaded gun stays in my holster AT ALL TIMES. The person that gives u crap about it is a person who doesn't trust themselves.

I personally think it depends on the person themselves and knowing what they can do in the situation and how fast.
So, as someone who is new to carrying and definitely a little weary about one in the chamber, I WILL note that on the dozens of comments sections I've looked at, I've never seen ONE person who swears by carrying unchambered who's been in a life or death situation. And EVERY person who has, has sworn that having one in the chamber saved their life. That means something. You can pretend you are so ultra elite at "situational awareness" but that means nothing if you can't back it up with a real world example.
For me, it sure seems like the best solution is simply to train my ass off so that there is no danger to me or anyone every around me of carrying chambered, and then do it.
I taught hunters safety classes and you would be amazed at the lack of basic gun safety (or danger) people have , even after the coarse we could not pass some of them to be trusted to handle even a bb gun! So yes , gain as much knowledge as you can about firearm safety you can ! Take a reputable coarse if you can find one, the more you know is priceless!!!
I feel like some of the people with the "better than nothing" mentality are not planning on or are too lazy to actually train. A firearm is a dangerous tool in the right hands at it's best. In the wrong hands it could be a disaster. People who carry consistently need to train. There is no justification for being "uncomfortable" carrying in any fashion.

I carried for a year without one in the pipe but I trained and got comfortable with it. I would suggest less time maybe a month or two of carrying without one in it. if I were to do it again. I would never tell anyone to not carry one in the pipe.

Another thing I noticed in the gun community is the focus on fear.
In almost every other type of fighting, there is an emphasis placed on reading your opponent and reacting accordingly.
There are certain strikes and blocks that need to be done in a certain way. The emphasis is always on practicing how to do that move efficiently, not making up 4857362648426252 different reasons for why you would be too scared to do it the right way, so you shouldn't do it.

Thanks for the information. I have two carry guns, one is an S&W GVE-40 "which is my favorite. The GVE doesn't have safety per se. I carry both with a round in the chamber. The GVE has an advanced trigger lockout. The Rock Island .45 has a three-position hammer and I carry it at the second hammer position which locks out the firing position until the hammer is at position three. Is that okay?
