    You should do a series where you have to play from a losing position. You can title it "Creating Counter-play" or something. In the low elo games you can just hang a piece for free, and then later maybe a piece for a pawn, then maybe a rook for a knight or bishop. and in the high elo games maybe just get into a bad position but one that still has life in it. You could just make custom games and start the game from the losing position. Anyway I just think it would be pretty informative and it plainly sounds like good content.
    (I've commented this 30 times and I'll continue to do so until either Levy responds, or I see the series. Or maybe I'll give up who knows?)

    • @konroh2
      @konroh2 2 года назад

      There's only so much that can be done. One can clearly see tactics from a winning or losing position. Honestly if you blunder and still win it only means your opponent blundered. So of course the lesson is to never give up but this content isn't as good as you think it'd be.

    • @Kirito_2016
      @Kirito_2016 2 года назад

      @@konroh2 Naw I mean ofc if it's +4 and you're black, there's not really much you can do except pray. (At the 1000+ elo level anyway.) Which is why I mentioned that it's losing, but "there is still play" as in its unclear. There are always going to be easily winning positions if someone makes a mistake. But I'm talking about where your rook gets taken by a bishop because you hung a skewer, but them taking you allows you quick development or something, so instead of the opponent being up +2 as one would assume a bishop for rook would be, instead it's like +.80-1.2 still losing for black, but still something to fight for.
      Obviously this isn't considering the low elo games where you can simply give your queen away for nothing and still win. Those, I envisioned, as simply entertainment. Which would grab the viewer and keep them around long enough to learn something.
      At the end of the day, I refuse to accept that there is nothing you can do from a losing position except wait and pray. This isn't classical we're talking about. I'm thinking rapid at most, blitz ideally.

Black's Knight could never get over there to defend in time, the Bishop stops the A pawn with B-a3 and threatens B-a3, Bxd5 with impunity, and white has all day to do p-h3, and after that, it looks like Q-b6 is winning, threatening, BxP, then promote the C pawn.

      3 points for a win, 1 for a draw is what EVERYBODY has been suggesting, but there are still very few tournaments which adopt that scheme.

      This behaviour is one of the things Fischer used to rail against in his lead-up to the world championship match in 1972. The Soviets would instruct certain of their players to draw or lose against others, so as to manipulate the odds of achieving another glorious victory for Mother Russia.
      In the two years leading up to the match, Fischer whittled the Soviet contenders down to a handful, then dispatched Taimanov AND Petrosian 6-0, then went on to sharpen the stake to a surgical point by destroying Spassky. Russian chess superiority never recovered (well, yes, there were Karpov and Kasparov, but the Great Socialist Horde had been permanently crippled).

    I’m from the Netherlands, if he stays asymptomatic he’ll be inside for 7 days since his positive test and then he can go outside again, according to the current regulations.
    If he develops symptoms he’ll be inside for at least 7 days + the time it takes him to be 24 hours without symptoms.
    So far in most closed events everybody gets tested every day, I’m not familiar with the chess events, but it’s very likely the at least have to do a selftest daily. So everything will probably be all right :)

      I think you understood that wrong (going for some dutch here).

      Dubov’s initial test was a rapid test. The tournament organizers said to either have a negative result of an accurate test or wear a mask. There wasn’t enough time to take a more accurate test before the game, and that accurate test later on had a positive result
