      I looked at the 365Chess Database and they had their first game in 2001 at "Troll Masters". Magnus then was already at about 2000 rating, according to Wikipedia.
      And in mid 2000, when he was still 900 he would have been in a different devision, if at all (if the current organisation of the Norwegian Chess Championship resembles the case in year 2000)
      So, i doubt, that they had this match which this rating difference.

      Fun fact, Geir Sune got a GM norm in the tournament he played a couple of weeks after this game. That means he has two GM norms, and only needs one more, and to cross 2500, in order to finally get the GM title. His peak rating was 2493 in May 2022, and while he has dropped a few points since then, I fully expect he'll be able to get both. Impressive to see a 38 year old still improving!

      @@johnbishop9621 this is just a logical fallacy bc ELO is inherently self correcting--i.e. if his opponents were better the results would be different too. You can't just randomly give Magnus' opponent higher elo rankings, because if they had that much more elo their playing strength would also be that much higher.
      Obviously it's easier to increase your elo if you're playing people that are close to your elo-- you gain more and lose less vs playing someone 100 points lower but if they're at your level it will also be that much more difficult to regularly defeat them.

    Levy, video idea: where different high level players struggle and why. You can probably think of better examples than me, but say Hikaru in classical vs blitz or Fabi in blitz vs classical. Maybe Rosen in end games. They’d all crush me but this is just an inkling of an idea

    • @areebsiddiqui758
      @areebsiddiqui758 2 года назад +16

      Hikaru was classical no. 2 only a few years ago. If he didn't stream and spent more time preparing then he'd probably be top 10. Fabiano is not weak at blitz and rapid. That's just a myth. Look at his rapid and blitz ratings. Its just that he's regarded as a classical specialist with extensive prep.

      @@areebsiddiqui758 Fabi was weak *in comparison*. Obviously he was still one of the best but at the time he was #2 in classical with 2800+
      Its why in their WC match magnus drew the last game even with a slightly better position. He was that confident about the faster times
      Fabi has gotten way stronger at the faster times since that WC match though^

    • @ds8249
      @ds8249 2 года назад +2

      @@areebsiddiqui758 you might be right 🤷‍♂️ according to old Ben Finegold he doesn’t even make the top 100 lol I’ll take Ben’s opinion over yours for now. I even said Levy could think of better examples, I just think it’s a cool idea, even if my examples aren’t the best

    • @ds8249
      @ds8249 2 года назад

      @@Jartran72 which ones? Lol I listed three. Hikaru is a blitz god but some think he’s lackluster at classical (Ben Finegold said this). Fabi is a classical god but it’s not really debatable that he isn’t as good in blitz. Obviously he’s better than both of us together, but the idea is to examine why they excel in one area and are lackluster in others. Rosen is strong in endgames, but he’s a tricky opening and middle game player generally speaking, with endgames not being as sharp.

    How are you this talented? The way you present your content is so good. It really sucks you in making me want to watch and play chess. You the Magnus of chess content.

    Gotham chess I have chessmaster 10th edition and a chess game called Majestic chess. I'm a beginner and I'm on the 3rd chapter and I'm at the part where you have to play a game with all your pieces against RHUK with all his pieces so its a regular full piece game . I keep trying to win so I can move on but I can't win . Is there a way in the chessmaster 10th edition that I can make my move and the other players move and it help me figure out my next move and once I move add the RHUK's next move to help me again ? If I can't do the step by step help with chessmaster 10th ed what can I use ?
