Delta 757-200 Startup, Taxi and Takeoff in Detroit

  • Leaving Detroit on N556NW, a 2002-built Boeing 757 and the second-to-last one Northwest Airlines ever received, though it has of course been refurbished since then. Quite the powerful takeoff on this rainy day; skip ahead to 17:10 for just that. It just doesn't feel like Detroit without the DC-9s and the red tails.

    SAME EXACT NOISES!!

    Yes, Delta really isn’t the same without the Mad Dogs. Become predominantly Airbus, and Boeing puts out an inferior product (ironically stemming from the Mad Dog merger) in the 73 Max. Kinda feels like a letdown as an American citizen and Delta epitomizes it. Glad we can still get some 75’s in service at Delta and United, but Boeing really needs a full replacement for both that and the 73.

    3:05 does anyone know why the flaps can pause sometimes when the plane is on the ground?

    • @theaviationchannel3501
      @theaviationchannel3501 3 года назад +1

      Doesn't usually happen. Pilots always lower the flaps slightly before taxiing to increase lift during take off. A possible reason it pause while lowering could be that the pilot unknowingly lowered it to around 10 degrees, and decided to lower it further to something like 15 degrees after. Sorry for the late reply!

      @@theaviationchannel3501 I see the flaps pause more frequently when taxiing from runway to gate where when the flaps go from landing config to flaps up, it pauses halfway. I wonder why that happens too.

      @@Blank00 oh that's strange, I probably just never noticed that.

      I think its part of the check list to make sure the flaps are working properly

    That was a short takeoff

    • @ecoRfan
      @ecoRfan 3 года назад +1

      I got 25 seconds from thrust set to liftoff. That’s really short.

    • @TrentEngineFan
      @TrentEngineFan 3 года назад

      @@ecoRfan I feel like 757s always have the shortest takeoff rolls.

    • @ecoRfan
      @ecoRfan 3 года назад +1

      @@TrentEngineFan on shorter flights definitely. Like anything else, it can be a dog at maximum gross takeoff weight. Most of the time, including here, pilots don’t even need to push it very hard.

    • @jayo_z

      That's the gear coming up. I figured it had to do with the rain.

      gear coming up, 2 possible reasons
      1. gear was spinning while being raised into the wheel well
      2. gear was spinning and pilots pressed brakes to stop the spinning (per regular SOP)
