    The "Bewitched" house in Santa Monica was used for exterior shots in the first "Gidget" movie. When "Gidget" became a box office hit, Columbia Pictures decided to produce a series of Gidget films and they constructed a facade on the backlot based on the Santa Monica house; there was already a garage on the lot, so they reversed the facade to incorporate it. The living room set from "Gidget Goes to Rome" was revised for the Stephens' living room. When the TV series "Gidget" began production "Bewitched" was already using the facade, so they used the house next door, it had previously been used on "Hazel" and was later Danny Glover's house in "Lethal Weapon".
    The set for "The Brady Bunch" is so different from the layout of the actual house that HGTV had to add a large addition to the back, leaving the house with a very small backyard.
    A house on Agnes Avenue in Studio City was once used for the series of "Blondie" movies until Columbia built a replica on their backlot. That structure later served as the homes of the Anderson family on "Father Knows Best", Mr. Wilson on "Dennis the Menace" and Tony Nelson on "I Dream of Jeannie".

      "dannycarrington1601," " . . . 'Bewitched' facade . . . was later Danny Glover's house in "Lethal Weapon".
      And subsequently blown up on a fourth season episode of "Home Improvement' in which Tim (Tim Allen) and Al (Richard Karn) infamously destroyed it while thinking they were 'fixing a gas leak'. A substantial special effect and location shoot -- i.e., filming away from the Disney lot, "Home Improvement""'s studio base -- for a sitcom. 'A House Divided', episode 18 of the season, first ran Feb. 21, 1995.

      I know Caryn Richman who starred in "The New Gidget" show in the 80's. She told me they used the old "Bewitched" house on the Warner Ranch lot.

    As a kid in Australia watching The Brady Bunch - I thought all American homes had inside staircases, a maid in the kitchen and children who wore beautiful clothes.

    Disagree that many people never heard of "Happy Days". Fonzie is an icon even in this generation. I'm lucky I knew some people in the industry that gave me a quick look of the Beverly Hillbillies house. They totally changed and redone the entire house and looks nothing like the show anymore. You would have been disappointed. Tearing down classic Hollywood homes and rebuilding on the lot seems to be a regular thing these days. So sad.

    03:56 - 04:04 " . . . the house from the series 'The Beverly Hillbillies' from 1964 (ed. - NOT) through 1971."
    Fact, corrected: "The Beverly Hillbillies" launched in 1962 (while John F. Kennedy was president).
    "Darrell Gerard Reeves," I enjoyed your nostalgic presentation; viewed it twice, so of course 'thumbs up'. . . . I will join an imaginary legion of viewers wondering "why, in two years' time, you haven't returned to take another crack at a clear, HIGH shot of the 'Hillbillies' house?" -- and edited out this failed attempt.

    Was the gate at 4:41 the entrance to one of Elvis' homes ? Seems somehow familiar to me....lmaybe from one of the home movies from an entourage member.

    • @peymang

      No I think Elvis's home was in Beverly hills...Monovale Ave, not Bellaire. His other home was on hillcrest drive in trousdale estates. Interesting that his monovale home is on the same block as Michael Jackson's last residence..the one he died in.

    The bewitched house is not even a house. It is a facade.
    You can’t sell a fake house.

    • @scvandy3129
      @scvandy3129 Год назад

      0:31 - 0:39 "Behind me is the home [in Santa Monica -- city's name is typed onscreen] which they used for the INSPIRATION for the 'Bewitched' house which is now on the Warner Bros. Ranch in Burbank." 01:12 - 01:26 From the sidewalk in front of the specified house, he provides a slow, 360 -- clearly showing that it's in a real neighborhood in Santa Monica. So, you CAN sell it, like all those other houses in the 360.
      OF COURSE "you can't sell [the duplicate] fake house". It's only a facade AND it's on PRIVATE property owned by the studio, Warner Bros.
      I'll propose most on this thread read your Comment and are shaking their heads over how you could not comprehend that information spelled out for us in 1, 2, 3 fashion. The videographer even adds a qualifier: The home in this video is the REAL HOUSE that the FACADE was based on. AS YOU CAN TELL [ed. - Oh, Oh; going out on a limb here, he's giving some on this thread the benefit of the doubt], when the facade was built, it was reversed or "flipped" and a garage was added.

    I gotta tell you that the Bewitched house in your video looks nothing like the one in Marina Coates’ video. Can you clarify?

    • @ajs11201
      @ajs11201 Год назад +1

      Marina's video is a replica of the facade on the studio lot. The home in this video is the real house that the facade was based on. As you can tell, when the facade was built, it was reversed or "flipped" and a garage was added.
