That's not the original Pickfair house. It was torn down because when Pia bought it she said it was haunted.
Such a shame. They destroyed that kind of history.
Wow on Jimmy Stewarts past home. He deserved it. If you still have not seen the movie, you MUST! I recommend it toward Christmas time, and I watch it again nearly every year, such good childhood memoriy from when I first saw it...(Was an old movie back then!)
Allways felt very strong curiosity and admiration to old Hollywood celebreties, their lifestyle and houses.
Fun!
It's incredible to think Elizabeth Montgomery lived in that huge beautiful house compared to the home Dick York lived in his last years.
True - she also came from a celebrity family do not forget!
I can't imagine living in Lucy's house and making such drastic changes.
I know / same here
Elizabeth Montgomery’s house would have to be my favorite it’s so beautiful
On Roxbury, just a little north on the opposite side from The Benny and Ball’s home were the homes of Rosemary Clooney and next to it was the home of Ira Gershwin. I remember driving by the tutor home of Jimmy Stewart and he actually opened the front door and got his mail.
Wow - did not know that about Stewart but yes I know the Clooney house - also Agnes Moorehead, Madonna and Diane Keaton - same block!!!!
I heard another story that one time Vivian and Lucy were on her sofa and Jack Benny just walked inside, began playing a trumpet (I believe it was) then turned around and left 🤣🤣 I couldn't imagine the fun they had.
I think the remodelling of Lucille Balls former house ruined the whole look of the property. It's such a shame. She was a celebrity icon.
💯 %
Great tour. All the homes are beautiful. I imagine they take a lot of money just for the upkeep. I like Marilyn Monroes house and Elizabeth Montgomerys house.
You have great taste. Upkeep is crazy
I love the outside of the Pickford home. The architecture back then with all these homes has more style and character than the boxes they build today. Just my opinion. Love old Hollywood. Thank you for this video, it was really interesting.
Thank you for such a nice comment. I’m so glad you enjoyed!
Monroe seemed to prefer cozy, warm environments as opposed to massive and impersonal.
Yes, she seemed pretty humble
She didn’t have the money to buy a big estate.....poor thing people used her up where ever she went
She had no money. She was treated without respect and her salaries corresponded.
Yes, that was what I liked about her
Probably didn't have as much money as these others.
Elizabeth Montgomery was very grounded, despite the mansion.
She sent her kids to public school.
I agree
From everything that I've read from people who met Liz or knew her, the words they used to describe her were, kind, sweet, down to earth, unaffected and others.
Elizabeth Montgomery was notoriously private, but how cool it would've been to have seen her on the cover of AD with pictures of her beautiful home inside. RIP EVM💔
I would have loved that! I did not know she was that private!
You did? When? Wow, that’s so interesting
@@DrGariS EVM did her work, but didn't seem to care much for doing press junkets or red carpet appearances. She was kind when respectfully approached by fans, but according to one of her best friends, she hated being asked to twitch her nose.
I've never seen any old magazines featuring her and the interior of her beautiful home, but would love to if there are any that are still in existence. I vaguely recall that she was also quite the artist and loved to paint in her spare time. It would be great to see some of her beautiful talent. RIP EVM❤️
I love seeing celebrity homes, one of my first times in LA we decided to tour their homes, and saw quite a few including Lucy's home which I loved, just a shame it no longer looks like the original plus a whole host of others. In 1991, when Michael Landon passed we tried desperately to find his home and found someone who actually knew where his home was, and we were surprised to find out his home was at the end of a dirt road. Thank you for giving us these virtual tours.
Wow that is such a great comment! Thank you so much!
I admit it…Im obsessed with old Hollywood. This was a great video. I can’t imagine the fun they had back then. The world has changed for the better and for the worst, in different ways.
When you were famous back then you were REALLY famous. Now everyone is famous-Ish!
@@DrGariS the stars on this tour's work has withstood the test of time. Let's hope today's trash doesn't.
I get so melancholy when I see these homes because so many stars are gone. Jimmy Stewart is one of my all time favorites. Because of his role in It's A Wonderful Life. George Bailey reminds me of the father I had. My father's name was George also. And Jimmy was such a down to earth sweet man in real life. Great actor. So many of these people are gone now and I just feel sad when I see these tours. I enjoy seeing the homes, but it's bittersweet.
I agree and I would have loved to own the home. My heart is in Hollywood ( not the industry but the beautiful town. I yearn to be there again soon!
Thank you so much for that wonderful compliment - so happy you enjoyed!
Melinda,
Jimmy Stewart was one of my favorite actors. I have a book on his life. There is not one movie that I didn't like.
God Bless you🙏.

The former Beverly Hills mayor must’ve had a heck of a career before becoming mayor. That home is amazing!
Her husband is Jon Bosse. The interior of the house is incredible!
@@DrGariS oh okay! That explains it. I would love to see the interior.
I live in Beverly Hills and have seen all of this many, many times, but this is a great video. Well done. It's like revisiting everything again.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Beverly Hills is paved with gold!
I love your tours. Very interesting to watch and see. I have been up in the area looking many years ago and I got to see Sammy Davis Jr way at the top of a hill he was leaving his house when we passed and he waved and said hello. we also saw Burt Reynolds house too. They were just building Tom Jones home, the all brick one just as your going up the hill. I loved that house many years ago. Thanks again....
Thank you so very much for the lovely comment
My husband and I went to Beverly hills while visiting a friend. We went down Sunset Blvd and it when right into a street with some beautiful homes. We probably drove by some famous peoples home but didn't know who lived where. If we ever go again I'll be sure to go by these homes! Thanks.
It is lovely here for sure
California Gal strange how he walked in front of them though...because when I went, if you were caught STANDING in front of any celebrity home, you’d get arrested. Even our tour bus would not stop for photos, as he said he’d get fined.
So cool! Jimmy Stewart was an incredible actor! One of my favorites and Jack Benny one of the most funniest comedians I’ve ever listen too! Love his show
How extraordinary to go back in time a bit and see these remarkable estates of celebrities from old Hollywood. Thanks so much. ❤
Thanks for the great comment and you are so welcomed. I am so happy you found this enjoyable.
Fun trivia , Sally Struthers lives next door to the golden girls' house.
I loved Elizabeth Montgomery.
Me too!!!!
Thank you I loved seeing famous 50s and 60s stars homes
So happy you enjoyed it!!!
@@DrGariS ❤️🙏🏼
Really nice to see how they lived. Houses were beautiful.😊😊
They are!
Looooove your video & i Love Elizabeth Montgomery home.👍🏫
Thank you so much!!
Beautiful homes! The Colonial was actually Carole Lombard's home when she was seeing and then married Clarke Gable not Humphrey Bogart. Bogart and Bacall lived there in Brentwood also. That must have been some swanky place to live back in the day! Thank you for the tour!
Thanks for the info!
I was about to mention this as well. I’m like Carole and Bogart didn’t own a home together 😂😂
Hi from Mexico! Great tour of some beautiful LA neighborhoods! thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great job! This is my first time watching your show and I really hope to see more videos like these.. Thank You.
Thanks so much
Thank you for going to the trouble of putting this up, I really enjoyed it.
My pleasure!
Mary Pickford's orginal House was demolished after it was sold , by her daughters. The buyer promised not to tear down the house . Once he got possession of the house he knocked down and built a monster house . The original estate had a guest house at the back .
Yup, I remember reading that.
Very sad
Thank you for this amazing amazing video it’s my wish to visit all of old Hollywood celebrities homes... thank you once Again
Ive always thought that it would be just fitting if a real committed fan of a beloved celebrity, made it big enough to buy the former home of their favourite celeb!
I cant think of a better tribute
Because the person would treasure every inch of that property & make sure it was lovingly cared for.
It wouldnt be for the grandeur or a quick flip for money but for the love & respect for the beloved old film star!
I remember seeing a wonderful home once owned by a silent film star ( female) & it was all Art
Neuveau & Deco intermixed yet it blended so well & it was a beautiful home with lots of foliage & open passageways
I wish i could remember the name of the female star!!
I know they died at this property
Thanks for your video
Peace
🇬🇧👧
Thanks so much for that lovely comment. I really appreciate it and appreciate you!
Love your tours! You are truly the best tour guide that I have seen and all of your tours are well edited!! Thanks DrGaris!!!
Omg thank you so much. That’s one of my fav compliments ever! 😃
I would be very interested in seeing the Lou Costello home and also the Walt Disney home.
When I was a young man, I worked on a home (construction) located on a corner of Sunset and something or other. Years later, it gained notoriety when the owner painted the naked statues in flesh tones. House was huge, kind of French Provincial style I'm guessing. Giant Porte Coche, Olympic pool, theater for about 20 as I recall, tennis court. Sat on about 4 acres would be my guess. Always wondered about the history of the home as I figured it was built in the 1920's or so. Can anyone enlighten me as to the history of this home?
Clark Gable and Carole Lombard or Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall
I heard that, too. was it? Was it clarified whether he meant Bogart and Becall or Gable and Lombard?
I’ll write a check and run! LOL!
That was Clark and Carole's home. I read many years ago when Lucy lived on Roxbury some fans ( not many they had more respect ) would go up and knock on the door, and Lucy would tell Desi or whomever was in the room to answer the door it was for them LOL !
Oh wow, that’s so cool to know!
Jack Benny often opened his own door to fans as well. And Lucy gave out Halloween candy to kids every year.
Lombards house since she was married to Powell was a Dutch colonial and before she even married Gable she moved in with him to his farm on 20 acres in Encino that Gable bought from Raoul Walsh. Bogart lived in 2 houses with Bacall, the first for only a few months then their 'forever home in Benedict Canyon until he died. They had bought it from Hedy Lamarr
these homes are so lovely
I agree
Those homes are very beautiful! I want to live My life without stress And worries I don't need to be Rich and famous I just want to be happy always. Thanks for sharing! It was a great video!
Thank you so very much for that wonderful comment
Thank you for this amazing tour. I love it! Please keep it coming. You fascinate me!
More to come!
DrGariS I sure hope so!
These huge actors just living next door to each other. So casual and some not hidden behind large walls and vegetation. It was different back then.
Oooo I love the golden girls house
I'm a big fan of the girls from the 80s and my hol life big xxxx Jeffrey 🍀🌞☕😘🌴🙏🙏🐱.
Me too!!!!
Very fascinating video! Thanks for this! Better than taking a bus tour, by far!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome video! Thanks for posting!
Thank you too!
Thank you, it's nice seeing this area again I never knew about where all the stars homes were. :-)
You are so welcomed. I am so happy you enjoyed this.
That was amazing! Thank you so much.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I believe that Peter Faulks wife still lives at the home and she played multiple rolls in his Columbo series.
wow - that is so interesting!
Falk not faulk
Thanks for this video. I enjoyed it very much, specially now in this lockdown time. It was like being there. Very interesting. I already subscribed to your channel. Greetings from Germany!
You are so welcomed and I’m so happy you enjoyed it.
Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. In her autobiography, she describes the time when he was sick and dying in that house. If it was okay for friends to drop by, the porch light would be on, and all the famous rat packers, etc. would come and keep him company. If he was too ill, she would turn the light off.
I truly enjoyed your video. I am a new subscriber and look forward to your next video.
That is so kind of you and I thank you for the lovely comment. I’m a resident nearby and it’s easy for me to make these videos. :-)
Great video. Really enjoyed the information! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
WOW AWESOME PHENOMENAL VIDEO THANK YOU FOR THE TOUR 😊😊😊😊😊
My pleasure - I’m glad you liked it
I recognized the golden girls house immediately!!!!
All these great actors gone it tells me I'm getting old
Like fine wine...
It was a different era, celebrities living close together and close to the streets, it make it legendary that they are past away
Never been to California, can't imagine ever going to Beverly Hills but I love old movies so this was very interesting. I don't know if you've done other videos but Ill check.
I’ve done quite a few on celebrity homes. Hope you enjoy! :)
The houses are amazing. But what's the point. You don't take anything when you die. Your eternity is your home forever.
You got to enjoy life to the fullest
Mightysun89, excellent point.
Robert, MightySun is referring to amassing material things. Eternity never ends. If you have asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, you will spend eternity in heaven.
What a creepy, negative comment. If the owners love their homes then they should enjoy it. This is where we all spend a tremendous amount of time. By your logic...why wear nice clothes...or anything else that brings pleasure; you can't take them with you. YEESH.
@@kayhathaway6956 oh Lord. Leave your nutty religion out of this. You're the dangerous type.
As ever, beautifully done, Gari. Thank you for sharing these fascinating videos. I have just given you your 674th "thumbs up" and have subscribed. I hope you are well. Keep up the good work, my friend.
Awesome! Thank you!
The golden girls house baffled me. Just like the set for happy days, the insides did NOT fit the outside shot.
Also across the street from where Michael Jackson passed was Marilyn Monroe's house that Tony Curtis wound up buying. Also Elvis lived across the street behind Michael Jackson
YES!!
Peter Falk had such severe dementia in his old age that he would come out of the locker room at Riviera County Club without putting on his shirt or shoes .
Enjoyed looking at celebrities’ beautiful houses…
Great video!
Thank you for that lovely comment
It is kind of sad that the children of these celebrities have no care to keep the houses where they grew up in, I feel so sad that I couldn't keep my grandparents house, which was sold from my greedy aunt so fast when they died. I was lucky to have gotten many things that may not be worth much, but are personal items while they were still alive, I treasure each item and I tell my children and grandchildren all the stories and memories they have shared with me. Looking at where Lucy and Jimmy's beautiful home's once stood, where now in my opinion these cold mansion's are, makes my heart ache.
Thanks for the kind comment
Great video. Thanks for posting
Glad you enjoyed it
Peter Falk’s wife,Shera Danese, could still live at the property. She starred in many episodes of Columbo and I believe that’s how they met.
Pia Zadora totally ruined Pickfair which should have been a musea . Very little remains after their butcher job on Pickfair which is so sad !
Isn't that something?
It had termites or it was haunted. One of the two. You can see the interior of the original on RUclips.
Pickfair was demolished in the late 80s. The house that’s there now was built in the 90s.
Beautiful home,thanks for sharing.
You’re so welcomed!
That wasn't actually Jimmy Stewart's house. It's the same address, but they built the current house in (the one in your video) in 2000 after tearing down his much smaller tudor house in 1998 (which I actually had the privilege of visiting when he was alive).
you are right. When he mentioned Jimmy Stewart I thought it would be a tutor house.
I love how you say who house it was and then show us their pictures thank you
My pleasure. I’m so happy you enjoyed it!
Awesome thank you for the tours
You’re so welcomed. I’m so happy you enjoyed it
Beautiful job ! Hello from Ottawa, Canada 💕
OMG thanks so much! I just posted one on Elizabeth Montgomery's house - that is a rarer home to see!
Thanks for showing us around.
You bet
You have such a sweet voice.
Thanks so much. THAT was a sweet comment!
Thank you! That was fun. Do more videos!
Thank you! Will do!
The original gates of Pickfair remain. The house was torn down by Pia Zadora to build the structure which is now on site. It was ashame to tear down Pickfair for many reasons. But what remains is not Pickfair.
According to Pia Zadora Pickfair was extremely haunted and they couldn't handle the paranormal activity! I'm sure the new house is more modern as well.
After Gracie Allen and George Burns built their new home, Mary Benny (Mrs. Jack Benny) had to have a new home too. It also had to big bigger. They sold the home in '65. A decision Jack regretted. People loved Jack, Mary, not so much.
So interesting to read all these comments. Thanks for that
Nicely done. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
I love your videos. But im dying laughing 🤣 how you calmly said bet mitler moved i think the earthquake scared the shit out her!
Haha! Good - glad I made you smile - errrr laugh haha.
Great Vid ! wow .. these estates are grand..... To me the ultimate mansion is the Beverly Hill Billy house that was used for outside driveway shots for the show..... its a Palace ..... so classic and big.... Take care .. be safe Sir ! Bobby...West Pa
Thanks for the lovely comment!!!!
I just had to stop midway though this video and say THANK YOU you did a REALLY GOOD JOB doing your research and giving us GOOD VIEWS of these mansions... 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 Many times people just do drive buys showing just bushes and street pavement and not telling specifically who lived where or only a few that they might know about !
You are lovely for writing that comment and I appreciate it!
Great video, love it.
Glad you enjoyed it
You missed Elvis Presley house at 144 Monovale Dr across from Michael Jacksons house. Elizabeth Montgomery also lived at the 144 Monovale house with her dad Robert Montgomery.
Elvis forever❤
We did the bus tour 20 years ago but I've seen and heard way more detail from you... bus tour too hurried to retain info. Thanks from the UK. 🤩
New subscriber here 🤩
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you!!! :)
Great video! I was sure you were going to point out Elvis’s 144 Monovale Drive house (LM & Priscilla lived there mostly) en route to Lucille Ball’s house. Next tour, you can add it!
Good call!
Pickfair was demolished by Pia Zadora. That is a different house altogether and there is less land than when Mary Pickford lived there. Lucy's original house was also torn down.
Correct about Pickfair. Lucy's house was not torn down but definitely a heavy remodel was unfortunately done!
Amazing tour👍❣️
Thanks so much.
Most of these homes are not original. They have been updated with the new owners. Beautiful homes!
Correct!! Just like all of them in these neighbourhoods where I live :(
I wonder how old these hedges are? Wow. Wonderful.
I subbed & liked. I enjoy your easy breezy style
Appreciate that
I remember the Spelling manor used to have a permanent but empty police car parked off to the side of the driveway. I believe its purpose was to discourage robberies.
Oh I never have noticed that. There is a house on Sunset that does that (on the southern side of the street) not far from the Playboy mansion
Wrong! That was the Bogart house then owned by producer Ray Stark. I saw it in person.
My favourite is the Marilyn house. It’s good that they keep it pretty much the same as when she purchased it. She was planning on getting major remodelling done to the rooms and garden however she only enjoyed the home for a brief period of time. She had ordered a new sofa and had most of her Mexican furniture and artwork in storage. I would have loved to have seen the house decorated the way she wanted it and the garden done out like she wanted. The ceilings in the house have exposed beams and they look beautiful. The church shaped arch ways leading into the Lounge room are pretty, so are the beautiful 1920s windows and doors. It maybe a small house compared to the big luxurious homes in the neighbourhood but I think it’s got a special Loveliness about it. ❤
Thanks for the comment. I agree with you on many of your points! That house would be so delightful to see it in the glory of what she would have done and felt comfortable with. I’m glad at least the owners have kept its integrity
The people who bought Jimmy Stewart's house obviously didn't care that it belonged to him, because it looks absolutely nothing like it did when he lived there! It was a much smaller, pretty English Tudor house.
It’s so sad!
Great tour here !
Glad you enjoyed it
I enjoyed the tour❤😊
Thanks for the kind comment. I’m glad you enjoyed. :)
Great tour. I've have been to a couple of parties at the Playboy Mansion and he was a terrific host. His chefs were the best in town.
Thanks Robbie. It was fun. I only went once. The house is now unrecognizable as it has been under an extensive renovation
Look how they have no walls and gates, just a normal neighborhood.
Best tour video ive seen
Wow - what a nice compliment! I am so glad you enjoyed it. Thanks so much!
