Elizabeth Taylor, synonymous with captivating beauty and Hollywood glamour, was a force to be reckoned with on and off-screen. Born to American parents in London, her destiny seemed intertwined with the world of cinema. Her acting career began at a tender age, and by her teens, she was captivating audiences with her violet eyes and undeniable screen presence.
Taylor's career flourished in the 1950s when she transitioned from child star to leading lady in beloved films like "National Velvet" and "Father of the Bride." Her talent wasn't limited to charming audiences. She garnered critical acclaim for portraying complex characters in films like "A Place in the Sun" and, later, the iconic "Cleopatra." This role and her subsequent marriage to co-star Richard Burton solidified her status as Hollywood royalty.
Beyond her acting prowess, Taylor's life was a whirlwind of passionate romances, eight marriages in total, which fueled the media frenzy surrounding her. However, her legacy extends far beyond celebrity gossip. She became a powerful advocate for AIDS awareness and research, a cause she championed tirelessly until her passing in 2011.
Elizabeth Taylor's influence transcended the silver screen. She redefined celebrity in an era before the age of social media, captivating the public with her talent, vivacious personality, and philanthropic efforts. Her enduring impact on Hollywood and her unwavering dedication to humanitarian causes solidify her place as a true icon.

I must be getting old because I find current home decor cold & sterile & not at all welcoming. Im not into a ton of wall decor or nic nacs but it seems people have really taken minimalism a bit too literal. I was watching funny baby videos and not one clip had the baby crawling on a rug. It was all hardwood or linoleum. I'm sure it's easier to keep clean, etc but at least a family room with carpeting. I guess to each his own.❤

Yes, the dimensions make it personable not ostentatious. The design is simple, but geared towards the outside as well as not competing with the people and belongings within. I can't stand the places which look like a museum or have massive entrance halls and stairways; a monument to their egos in order to make more impressive entrances. Taylor had a lot of commonsense and clearly thought of others' comfort not just her own. She had too much faith in Michael Jackson, but she was coming from a good place with that.

"Surprisingly modest" as those who knew her described is is correct; Taylor's home was not "opulent", or "lavish" as described in the video. I am familiar with the house and what it really shows in interior design is the woman herself; you can get an understanding of who she really was by the home: it is absolutely beautiful and charming, but never in a pretentious way. It was meant to be lived in with friends, dogs, and her family. The superb art collection is the legacy of her adored father, who was an art dealer. She loved beauty with soft colors inside, and bright colorful gardens, and it was all very serene, relaxed and joyful. It also is very much like old Beverly Hills, before the marble and gilt took over.Thats where she grew up, and in this home just near Beverly Hills in the hills of Bel Air on a winding road is this very special oasis.

A fan letter to Elizabeth brought a generous response, which resulted in an ongoing correspondence until shortly before her passing. After first letter, her responses came directly from 700 Nimes Road. When I attempted to call Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation for address to send a memorial contribution the call went directly to a security guard at the residence. He gave me the office address. We had a lengthy conversation about Elizabeth. He choked up obviously feeling a personal appreciation. As Rock Hudson once said, Elizabeth Loves people. To truly understand her passion, see Elizabeth Taylor accepts Jean Herscholt Award. Her famed physical beauty was genuinely exceeded by the Beauty of her heart and soul. I feel deeply honored to have had this privilege of contact with her and some respect having been welcomed into 700 Nimes Road. Unfortunately I understand the house has been demolished with a new Residence taking its place. RIP dearest Dame Elizabeth. Your legacy will never be lost! Although a DAME, Elizabeth will always be QUEEN of the screen, but more importantly, QUEEN 👸 of HEARTS 💕 💜 💖! 🕊 🕊 🕊

Surprisingly unpretentious and modest, with her personal touch, precious antique and art pieces, treasured memories and very much home, cozy atmosphere. It's not about aesthetic per se - it's about making a house, regardless of it's style and size - a home. One might've expected something way more gaudy, over the top lavish, but it's nothing like that. Very homey, cozy place that speaks about her personality perhaps somewhat unexpected story.

Yes it’s gorgeous. I love miss Taylor’s home inside and out. It’s beautiful like she is. ❤ do you have any videos of Rudolph valentinos home or errol Flynn’s home or the home that Robert fuller use to live in when he lived in California. I believe it was next door to Roseanne Barr or Rosie o donnell I can’t remember which.

It leaves a beautiful reminder of a beautiful woman who will always be remembefed. She was really a simple woman as the home display. I would live to visit the home. As a teenager I had a scrapbook titled "Liz...my favorite actress. Her friendship with Michael Jackson was pictured on one table. This is a continued reminder of how beautiful she really was. Thank you for the tour. ❤

The Host stressed Opulent describing her home. Elizabeth Taylor's home was far from Opulent. It appeared warm, inviting and personable for her Status in Hollywood. Only her diamonds were Opulent.😊 May this Beautiful Actress rest in peace. ✝️ 🎉

I enjoyed this very much. Her home was incredibly tasteful. Now, this is just for curiosity's sake: Is the narration done by AI? It is so hard to tell these things now, but so many sentences that are statements end with an inflection making it sound like a question. AI (perhaps wrong terminology...but a computer generated voice...whatever that is called) would be more likely to cause that unless this was edited many times with the original content and direction having been lost. Doesn't matter much. I'm just curious.

When I was growing up, Elizabeth Taylor was a goddess...and the media and all of us, followed her every move. She was a true star and a great talent. And lucky girl, she had the love of the gorgeous Richard Burton, her real soulmate. I was stuck by the low-key, yet elegant quality of the house. I agree that it was a real home, of serenity and good taste.... just the right size. It was so HER. My favorite part was the velvet ring boxes and leather jewelry cases, well worn, yet holding the million dollar jewels, marked with little make-shift labels....I remember when he bought her that Krupp diamond.

Now here is the home I wish to have a duplicate of. Have seen this video quite some time ago and was drawn to it almost immediately. Her choice of those whisper soft colors are right up my alley .... however, I have to add some whisper soft sage green, then I could step back (like Fonzi ), throw up my hands and say: “That’s it .... PERFECTION ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️🇺🇸

Beautifully created. I could live there even today sans the white shag carpet. Very lovely gardens and classically decorated w/ her style and California West Coast style.

Agreed. Plus I can imagine her padding around barefoot in a caftan her toes setting into the carpet. White shag pile isn't for the faint hearted especially with animals, but she had staff to take care of it.

    • @akrenwinkle
      @akrenwinkle 2 месяца назад

@@deborahcurtis1385 She had a staff of decorators, too. How can anyone not know that? It's my impression the only thing Elizabeth may have selected herself was the wall-to-wall carpeting, right up to the bath tub. I admire Elizabeth as a great beauty and humanitarian and also for her proletariat ways. Who else would marry Eddie Fisher and Larry Fortensky? That tells us about her taste; that, plus her Passion fragrance strips in magazines in the late 80s. I could smell them walking up the block.

@@deborahcurtis1385 That's not how interior decorating works. When you have an enormous budget and no experience decorating, you go with the best- someone with a good reputation, possibly who had done the homes of your rich friends- and tell them some things you like and hate, and let them do their job. Elizabeth was quite the busy bee, and had no time for such things. Probably no interest either.

@@akrenwinkle I think I DO know how interior decorating and designing works. And ET would be a client with strong opinions. It's collaborative at best and I think that's how it would have gone. As you say, you're just speculating and so am I.
