Yeah this is the same chords as wonderwall basically. This tune is just huge and Liam's voice is the most powerful it has ever been! This is their 3rd best selling single ever after Wonderwall and Don't Look Back In Anger and went straight to No.1 in 1997. Sold over 370,000 copies first week when Oasis were at the height of their powers.
The Be Here Now album was surrounded by so much hype and anticipation that it was never going to live up to people's expectations. I've always loved it. And this song was was the 1st single. It's a great, big juggernaut of a song that just rolls over everything in it's path. Loving the channel and the reaction videos guys. You haven't done 'The Hindu Times' - another of their great singles.
Yeah, as the title suggests, you had to be there then. Listening back the songs don't stand up, but if you were into the band in '97, and remember the sheer scale of their popularity, it was exciting just to be a part of it. Sadly that album also kind of ended them creatively, and that whole era of music. They never regained the energy and brilliance after that. And having seen them twice in the 90s, and twice in the 2000s, I could tell how much they were dialling it in the in the latter period (I don't blame them, they still had bills to pay). But Earls Court 95 or Maine Raod, compared to Wembley Stadium 2000 or Finsbury Park 2002, it was night and day. The magic had gone.

Guaranteed attitude in every song,Liam with hands behind back singing up into his mic with more energy than any other group I've seen and what a voice.
Liam's thyroid condition (hashimoto's disease) makes him sweat pretty much as soon as he starts performing where as it does not affect other performers usually (considering Liam is just standing there and not running around like some performers).
Spencer is right. We guitarists aren’t reinventing the wheel. Create your sound and make it your own. Who’s gonna argue every band doesn’t take open chords, pentatonic scales, some barre chords and use them over and over in their creative process? It never changes. Every band from the Eagles to Oasis has done it.
oasis were massive at the time and there was a huge hype about the forthcoming be here now album and noel gallagher's decision to release this as the first single with the chorus "all my people right here, right now, yeah, yeah" was just genius- always thought this was their defining record
10:50 if you listen closely you can hear either Noel or Bonehead playing Waterfall by The Stone Roses at the end here. They also do a similar thing at the Maine Road gig playing Sally Cinnamon at the end of one of the songs. Great reaction as usual guys 👍
Beautiful. Next up is Fade Away live in New York 94. An incredible B-side. Could also look at the 01 version also in the US but the 94 version has Liam’s voice in his prime years so I’d go with that
Hey guys, just want to say I luv your videos. I’m a massive Oasis fan since ‘94’..this ☝️is my all time favourite Oasis tune. So many good ones. I’m catching up on what you have done so far, glad you’re appreciating the genius ✌🏼💙🇦🇺
The official video was remastered to 4K on VEVO. Check it out. Loads of helicopters 🚁 think it was the most expensive video ever made at the time. Plus it’s my favourite Parker Liam wore
It was a crazy night, was there for my birthday with my brothers, for me top 3 gigs out of the 7 I've been to but the lad 👆 there is right, his voice wasn't the best that night, still not as bad as Wembley, he didn't finish a line, kasabian blew them out the stadium that night
I always thought he was talking to God. In the next line (God) asks him 'why his people wont fly through the storm' and he replies 'listen up man, they don't even know you're born' - meaning people don't believe God exists. I'm not a religious man, I just wanted to give you my take on it.
@@MitchelGant Most of times when Noel wrote songs he was off it nut. I just remember a story in the news of the world when they got his dad to go to hotel where Oasis were staying. It did not end well and Liam kicked off big time apparently.
This is my favorite Oasis tune. Unfortunately I don’t think live versions of the song do it justice. I feel the same way about the live versions of Falling Down. The 2016 Rethink of D’You Know What I Mean is best way to take this in.
Agreed. The remix is the best version. I still love the album version - 2 minutes of a plane flying overhead before the song even starts - fucking ridiculous but epic at the same time.
You're right some people end every sentence with ya know what I mean. Noel wrote most the first 3 albums before they was signed its amazing really. He's left handed and dyslexic but he couldn't afford a left handed one.
Love how you picked up the similarities between this and wonderwall. Back in the 90s they were often called out for ripping off the beatles (fashion, hair, music). Live Forever is basically Let It Be and Imagine. 🤘
@@steamwillrise LOL. easy mistake to make. Though Noel did once say that he'd been listening to Shine A Light by the Stones and drew inspiration from it for Live Forever.
Thanks for the comment Dave we have seen you on our videos since the beginning Ciggs and alchohol keeps getting blocked by youtube. We have tried two different versions
Well thats Noel Gallagher had his 10years of solo music... Guys wait till you listen to all his stuff great🔥🎧🎼🎸Liams got some good solo songs aswell but I'm a noel fan lol 🤔😁 keep it up guys love watching yous on RUclips
6:45 those lyrics are most likely about the Gallagher's father. He heavily abused Peggy (the mother) as well as Paul (oldest brother) and Noel and after leaving family he waited until the boys were world famous to actually make efforts towards a relationship, which was unwanted especially from Noel (since he got some physical abuse as a kid while Liam was the only one spared)
In my humble opinion, this is one their few songs that actually sounded better on the studio version. I know you guys can't react due to copyright, and I also know you've obviously watched. The sounds of the guitar parts is immense, Noel used many guitar sounds on the studio version which could not be replicated live. I prefer the studio version, the video and the vibe.
Love you 2 doing stuff on England you should come over and go to an away game or a derby day between 2 football clubs. Look up England football fans away. Football is before god your own child lol
It's also the same as boulevard of broken dreams by green day, great to rip into all 3 during an open Mic ... She's electric is also just married with children speeded up 🤷✌
There must have been a bit of competition between their vocals Liam of course takening lead 99% of the time but Noel has a more pure, identifiable tone and is actually singing the higher harmony here

Slide away at the lowry 2006 another classic by noel.
Sorry its under noel and gem slide away in Paris. And play dead in the water too please .
What about the White Room version with Paul Weller on keyboards and backing vocals - awesome!
This was the opening track & single from their 3rd album “Be Here Now”. This song was #1 in the UK Charts in the Summer of 1997.

Wonderwall V2. Love this song.
My first ever gig my chest hurt the drums were that loud
Met my maker and made him cry. Noel and Liam don't speak to their dad after he used to abuse their mum. That's my take..

He's left handed but plays the guitar right handed it's nothing to do with not being able to afford a left handed instrument
If you want more bangers id go headshrinker cliffs pavilion or hello Earl's Court.
To get a proper feel for this song you need to listen to the studio version
Or Noel’s acoustic version for just the lyrics.
React to Don't Go Away. I recomend two options:
1) Noel acoustic from Chicago '98
2) Live at Gmex '97
