Great video. Before purchasing my speedy pro a few years ago, I was heavily considering this watch. The price point was very good, and like you said, it’s a great watch. In the end I found a deal I couldn’t pass on the pro, but this watch has remained a favorite of mine within the lesser known speedy collection.
Thanks. Currently researching a first SPEEDMASTER. The algorithm seems to be pointing me in the direction of a lot of your videos. A good thing. I think this 3594.50 is currently at the top of the list. The Broad Arrow design is quite appealing to me. However, as professional aviator and space buff, the Professional Moonwatch does hold a sentimental appeal. A quandary!
Man I love this watch. I should've purchased one of these 3594.50 instead of my standard Speedy Pro. I believe I'll end up picking one of these up in the the future. The only problem is these are starting to go up in price. Great review.
I kept missing them on the forums so I just bit the bullet and bought off ebay and never looked back. Watch out for some models that had oxidation develop on the hands.
@@WatchCrunchOfficial It would be so funny if it turns out that several decades later that collectors want to oxidisation to prove that it is authentic XD
I recently listed my 2002 Speedmaster Broad Arrow with cream dial and blue hands on brown crocodile strap for sale. I don’t want to let it go, it is a beautiful piece and a strap monster. I may regret the move down the road.
I had this watch for many years and you are right in everything you said. The big problem for me was the bad readability of the hands in many light conditions. So i modded my Reedition with hands of the original Ultraman and finaly with a black bezel. Its a racing chrono again. Very happy with this watch. LE one of one 😉
You and I have very similar tastes in watches. I love this model, use a Forstner bracelet on it to add to the look. I prefer the metal subdial hands to the 60th ann model's white ones. Undecided on the flat vs twisted lugs, and crown guards, but I do believe this to be the sleeper model
Thumbs up for, once again, having a heart for the Omega chronograph underdogs. The Moonwatch is an icon, sure. If you want a Speedy in your collection, but someting apart from the mainstream, the BA is, in my opinion, a good alternative. Add also a Mark 4.5 and you have two chronographs with iconic Lemania movements in your box, which are not everybody´s cup of tea for sure, but a bargain for the enthusiast.
Sorry I'm a bit slow to reply Max, been on a killer night shift rota. I don't pay too much attention to the myriad Speedmaster models but I love this one, it's got a bloody Planet Ocean hour hand for a start and the steel bezel gives it such an old weathered look, I definitely want one of these one day. Absolutely top notch content again mate.
Thanks Morgan! Good to hear from ya bud. I thought yesterday "hope Morgan's ok" 😉. Yes, great off the radar piece! Hope you get through nights, switching back is the other hurdle.
I discovered your channel from this video. Amazing production! Congratulations!! I'm considering this watch, love the look and everything about it. However, water is my problem, I see many of the ones actually in usem have deterioration on the aplique or needles. So I have been considering the 3551.20 (Automatic, 3303 powered, 100 mts). But keep looking at the appeal of the hesalite and manual wind... I keep scratching my head. For me it would be an every day watch.
Great video with super visuals and knowledge as always. Not quite sure I agree with the you have got to have a speedmaster sentiment. I won't be jumping on the speedmaster bandwagon, but if it does attract you I agree this one seems like it's a good well priced potential choice. Thanks for the video 👍
Thanks Chris, have you spent time with a speedy? I always thought it was cliche until I wore one for a while... Now the collection feels incomplete without one 🤷♂️
@@WatchCrunchOfficial Yes mate my friend has a Speedmaster reduced. I just personally don't like chronographs and I'm not really a big believer in wanting something because it's iconic, I'm more buy something I like rather than what others think I should. Having said that I agree it's a quality watch and if you love them (as my friend does) and have the means, no reason why you shouldn't get and love. Just personally not one for me
1969 861 DON here, and 1967 321 DON, and some other 1960s very special ones, but the CK 2915 original is the one, the grail, the unattainable. I would want it so much as the collection masterpiece. Unfortunately, it will remain a dream. Sleeper Speedmaster : the Monocontatore with 1960s Singer prototype dial. Rarer than the 2915.
Really interesting find, and definitely a bargain - I had known about the Broad arrows of the 2000s only and those were mostly automatics, but this with the proper 1861 inside, and a sort of best of both worlds in terms of the design, I'd definitely take one of these over the outgoing hesalite Speedmaster Moonwatch. What do you think of the new Speedmaster with the 3861?
Is this your own watch? Also, is that bezel starting to rust??? The watch looked brand new till that Marco shot of the bezel. Awesome watch. Thanks for the review. 👍
Yep, agreed with you, except that many of them seems to have damaged hands and applied logo, witch could warn me about future movement damage and overall humidity problem... The newer automatic sapphire 3551.50.00 doesn't seems to show the same problem.
Excellent presentation again. My Speedy Pro is just so versatile, that it's a strap monster. You can pair it with almost anything and it will look naturally amazing. Which I would not say about the 57 Trilogy re-issue, due to the faux patina on the dial (which I like) and the gray-ish tropical dial color. Yet, the broad arrow hands are really hard to beat, and it's a classic design that will never go out of style. That's why I'm considering the Railmaster 57 re-issue with the same details and design. Is this the 57 re-issue? The reason I'm asking is because I don't see the faux patina on this dial.
Thanks Robert! So they made a reissue on the decade. The one I have is the 40th and one with the faux patina is the 60th. The railmaster is nice, oh what I'd give to have a clean ranchero ❤️
@@WatchCrunchOfficial Ahh, the Ranchero, don't even get me started. That is my ultimate grail watch at the moment. Perfect size and shape of the case. I almost pulled the trigger on one, the watch was missing lume in its hands (that didn't bother me), but eventually I backed out of the deal due to the radium dial and the radiation that goes along with it. The price was still doable for me to the point of avoiding sleepless nights.
Well done video. I really like this version aesthetically over the pro. The only thing that I'm not crazy about is the lack of taper in the bracelet but that can be replaced.
I have mine on the friction clasp variant, which does taper. Looks sweet. And when you rotate your wrist with the watch on it, it gives an overall feel of being a more svelte and slimmer watch
Hi Max, thank you so much for putting up this video. I had the exact same thoughts as you do, while last few years I always thought the "regular" speedmaster is a must have in every collection, but then I never had the need to purchase one until I saw the broad arrow. Recently I have been looking into this, and here I found your video. Quick question: I see some of the 3594.50 have automatic movement, some have manual winding. I'm more preferred to have one with manual winding. May I ask which manufacturing year is yours? I want to get an exact same model and year as yours.
Great Post! I have this watch, & i agree with most of Your comments about it. When this Watch was first released as part of the "Missions" Valise in 1997, the word " Replica" was Not commonly used for fake watches. Mine came on the early 1498/840 Bracelet, which tapers down to 16mm & does not have the Double-Button Deployment-Clasp. I don't like those big end-links, because they don't lie flat against the caseback & make the watch wear too big. Check-Out A Kat called "UNCLE SEIKO". He makes really nice period--style Vintage Flat-Link bracelets that are really nice & make the watch wear much smaller & more comfortably. The 60th Anniversary " CK2915", is an Expensive Rip Off & the fake lume & misplacement of the "Swiss Made" Notation ruin the look. I agree. The '57 Replica is THEE BEST Special-Edish Speedmaster Omega ever did!
Thanks Bruce! Wow 16 is a pretty aggressive taper. Yes I've been looking into the uncle seiko piece as well, some people was it feels cheap, but I guess the originals were known for their rattles.
Doing some research on the Broad Arrow and found your site. Great content, narrative and superb filming! Keep up the good work!! What's your wrist size so I can compare? I have a 175-180mm wrist and think this might be a bit large?
I don´t think it is better than the new professional with the movement upgrades. I didn´t bought the old models because you cannot stop the second hand and for this price tag it was unaceptable despite the original was the same, but now has silicium, coaxial, Metas certification .... sorry but much better. And the Pro plexy looks amazing with this new dial. But the reissue model is quite cool, no doubt. The old movement and the feeling is quite good.
I think the speedmaster edition with the chronograph dials at the 12, 6 and 9 are a bargain.... they are similar to the Tudor Tiger Prince chronograph but you can get them for less than 50% of the price in good condition
