    If i want to add pebbles should i put them in the mold before the resin

    • @HappyCraftingLady
      @HappyCraftingLady  4 года назад

      I would say that depends on the way you want them to look in the coaster! If they are going to sit at the bottom of the mold to be at the top of your coaster I would say add a small layer of resin to set them in and let that cure a bit and then add more resin on top. It would keep you from having spots where the resin didn’t get under the pebbles! If you are going to be using alcohol ink and pebbles you might just put the pebbles in then cover with resin and use the ink. If you did a cured layer with the pebbles and then did alcohol ink it wouldn’t sink down into the cured layer. You also have to take into account if the pebbles are really light and if they would float in the resin. If they do that you might have to add another layer of resin after the first with the pebbles cured to cover any spots where they stuck out at the top. Hope this helped!!

    Hope you able to help me on problem im facing, Im using some unknown brand alcohol ink which I have drop white on the epoxy as well. But the problem is, the ink do not sink to bottom like what you show on the video. Will it be the ink problem which are not heavy enough to sink into bottom, or the epoxy we using are different ? Or it might be your coaster is not that thick when you pour into the silicon mold ? My coaster thickness is about 13mm. Wish you can help me on that....:)

      I know someone before had this problem with a different brand of alcohol ink. I haven’t tried too many brands. The piñata brand that I have linked in my description seems to work great but here’s a few tips! Make sure that you are adding the alcohol ink right after you poor into the mold so the resin doesn’t start curing on top. That would keep your inks from dropping. Also make sure you’re mixing your resin in the right ratio. Mine is a 1:1 ratio so it’s equal parts! If it’s not mixed properly that could also cause problems. If you are sure that you are mixing it right your only other option is the alcohol ink brand. Some aren’t as good quality as others! I hope that this helps!

    When I mix purple in my resin with other colors it turns orange do you know why? Has it happened to you before ?

      Sometimes I have colors that when mixed with others make a weird color. I have a green that always turns an odd purple blue when I mix it with the white. Might be a brand issue?

    I’ve messed up. Twice I have started dropping my cast n craft on top of colours Watching as it sinks right through I realise what I have done. Very messy. :)))

      Is that the brand of white alcohol ink you use?

      @@HappyCraftingLady no I use pinata. But I put Castin craft opaque pigment in a plain bottle and think it is the pinata alcohol ink. I’m sure I’ve learnt my lesson. 😄😄

      The piñata alcohol ink is the ones I use pretty much exclusively!

    I'm sorry, I don't like the cells in these and all the colors but that is just me...You asked for honest opinions and I'm just giving you mine. But I love what you do, and how you teach. What if you used 91% rubbing alcohol (spritzed on top) instead of the torch or the heat gun to pop the bubbles. I've seen resin crafters use and say that works, and I have used in soap making and it works with the soap. Could you to PLEASE make a video and show the technique that made the "burst" with the few colors you used on the first set of coaster with those exact colors? I'm older, disabled, and learning. I am one that likes just a few colors. I tried make some like your first ones and nadda. I love the pink, turquoise with a small amt purple or blues. Turquoise, light greens with blues and pinks might be pretty to. I don't know. I do love that your teaching us what you know and I thank you for that. I will still be watching. THANK YOU :) I'm already a subscriber. Good luck with your move. We're moving to, out of state, with over 40 yrs with of things, and our two fur babies. UGH (about the things not the fur babies, just to be clear! lol) Stay safe!

      Hello Victoria! I am so glad you gave me some feedback! Actually the technique that I used in this video is the same as what I used in the first video. I just used 2 or 3 times as much alcohol ink as I did in the first one.
      Also I have not tried using the 91% rubbing alcohol to pop bubbles because that is what I use to remove the Resin when it gets on something I dont want it on. Because it breaks it down I assumed that it wouldnt work to pop bubbles and was afraid that it might effect the way that the resin hardens!
      I love the color choices you picked! I love pink and turquoise a lot too! I use them in many things! I think my next video like this I was going to try gold, black and white just to see what happens! I hope that you will watch that one whenever I get to it and let me know what you think! :)

      Hi. (I', sorry I don't know your first name.) I've seen Black, clear and gold coasters as well as the Black, white and gold, on you tube and they are Gorgeous. My son wants some, I'm just not good enough or too scared until I make a few more. Some of mine are just not good enough to give away. I'm a perfectionist anyway. Just google Black, white and gold resin coaster tutorials in your you tube search bar. That is how I found them. My son wants me to make him some. Maybe by Christmas I will make some pretty ones. I would like to know what you did exactly in your first video, and the colors you used, as well as the technique to make it blow out, and not get the cells? I just love that effect. I guess I'm not a "cells" grandma, and maybe that is because I saw too many real cells when I was in the medical field. lol I also watched your Christmas ornament tutorial and that would be a perfect way for me to practice on techniques and colors. WE are moving out of state, trying to downsize and I want to give our kids and grandchildren all our unique and crystal ornaments. Can you give me the link to that ornament please?. Thank you!

      Thanks so much for your advice! I have never had issues in these molds with too much alcohol ink! I did with some jewelry molds in the past though!
