It's only moderately depressing that I've been playing golf for 20 years and Matt's off-hand swing is better/faster than mine. Hahaha! Excellent video, gentlemen!
Ya I hear you....I'm swinging the G400 SFT - and everything I've seen makes me think I'd get more distance and fairways hit with this G425 Max - especially after a fitting with Ian!!
I just preordered my G425 Max on Monday. Switching from a Taylormade 2017 M1 440 and CANNOT wait for the forgiveness. 2021 is the year of the fairway for me lol
@@chrisgilligan4968 Aldila Rogue White 80 gram Xstiff cut an inch short. I have a Ventus Blue 7x Velocore that I got fitted for when they came out that I will be throwing on the Ping tho. Just gotta get the tip switched from TM to Ping
I am just starting golf. My first lesson is tomorrow. I was fitted last week, and the fitter set me up with a used G425. After watching this video, I feel good about his choice. Thanks.
this is what I wanted to see out of this club. I've been watching reviews for this club with ppl that hit the ball perfectly so thank you for doing this to show all of us inconsistent golfers how they actually perform!
I just got fitted for the G425 Max. Ended up configuring it with 9 degree loft and Aldila Rogue White 70g stiff shaft. Club speed 105 mph, carry 245-250 yards, total 265-270 yards. Can't wait to take it out on the course in a few days!
Ian and Matt, I just went through a full driver fitting on GC Quad monitor and hit all the new drivers: My current SIM, then SIM2, SIM2 Max, G425 Max, Epic Speed, Epic Max, TSi2, TSi3 with a plethora of different shafts and setups. I knew I was a low spin player, but the launch monitor really shed some light on just how low. Ended up being fit into the G425 Max 10.5° turned down to 9.5° with the Tensei AV Orange 65 stiff @ 45". Launch angle was 14° with 2,100 RPM of spin. I had to come rewatch this video, because I thought that's what RH Matty ended up in too (it was +1° loft though). Anyway, a fitting like this is really eye opening. Cheers!
I'm looking into the 425 max and a fitting. I thought at first I'd buy one on the marketplace but after watching several reviews this being the most informative I'm definitely getting fitted at a pro shop
Apologies if I double post here but as I watched this video (again) what really stands out (aside from Matt not hammering 300+ yard drives) is how quickly Ian diagnoses a prescription to correct the ball flight and strike point. This is a testament to these guys really knowing their craft! More "mortal golfer" fittings please?
Really enjoy the "average Matt" testing right handed. I think it's probably a lot more relatable to more people, not just in terms of speed, but also consistency (or lack of) in strikes. I would be curious to see Matt testing the G425 irons, and maybe a head to head with some like the Mizuno Hot Metal (previously stated as one of Ian's go to choices for higher handicapers)👍
One of your best videos. Literally watched the live yesterday and thought 'would love them to do a fit with Joe average with this line'. Would love to see this with all of the new lines !
I love how I get so much more out of your videos other than just a product review. Product reviews can all tend to sound the same but the fact that you dig into the nuts and bolts of fitting really helps me. It helps me so much with what to look for when I get fit. It’s a little painful to watch Mat swinging right handed it’s impressive that he can do that so well. It looks like the swings you might see on the average driving range.
I actually really like how Matt tests them right handed, since he usually tests things left handed you guys reduce the communication allowing the same guy to articulate their opinions the exact same they would for lefty.... more or less. Nice idea.
I just tested the G410 Plus with the iTour 65g stiff shaft and the fitter offered to let me come back and test the G425 for free to compare them before ordering. This was really helpful as Right Handed Matt and I had almost identical numbers. I also watched your 410 v 425 video. Great stuff! Can't wait to try the G425.
Nice to see a OEM have some good shafts in their line-up especially with a lower price point than other OEM's with made for shafts. Good value from ping ! Good video as always.
Thank you! Love matts 100mph swings. I used your older 100mph videos as swing thoughts to clean up swing. Made a huge difference in my swing and sequence last summer. I just close my eyes imagine your 90-100 swing, and i see immediate distance and effortless swing. Thank you!
Love watching you guys. I am 25 years of age and been playing golf for bout a year now with a handicap of 28. If you’re ever looking for someone with those numbers and skill set, I’d defiantly love to work with you guys. Live down in Alabama.
You know a good natural golfer when they go right handed to represent the most of us in the land of Mid-Handicaps... great review, and i am going for a fitting on the G425 Max against Sim2 as soon as lockdown 3.0 is over! Great content guys, as always.
Great video guys. I live in a area where I can’t try aftermarket shafts so I just get to try what the manufactures bring. Hope to see more of these in the future🤙🏽
I just picked up the Max and it is by far the most forgiving driver I have owned as I come from the sim. I to hit it off the toe some and I can see making these adjustments will be just the fix
wow! I use G410 and I'm almost identical to Matt's number and strike pattern. I've always tried to find the center of the face by adjusting my swing and never thought about moving the weight to the fade bias. Thanks for the amazing fitting video. This was an awesome educational clip!!
I have one of these arriving at my door this week. Really looking forward to having a new club. It's been over a decade since I've taken care of my bag.
I tried it out last weekend in the cold comparing it with my Titleist and a Callaway. It was STUNNING how straight every time it delivered compared to the others. It was so self evident that I had to buy it.
Love that a club is being reviewed at a swing speed and with numbers similar to mine. Gutted those numbers are only equal to matts wrong hand though! Need a fitting for driver this year and that video has been hugely helpful
Guys!!! This is sheer GENIUS. Fitting Matty at an average swing speed, in a relatively uncomfortable right-handed head and showing the benefits of a good fitting. I swing at 104 and Matty's right-handed numbers are much better than mine!!!! I have wanted a proper driver fit for years but, unfortunately, the only option over here are golf outlets and pro shops who are completely focused on getting a new driver sale. I don't mean to be cheeky but, can you recommend a fitter in Northern Ireland (or Ireland) who do a competent (paid for) fitting without the sales pressure? Looking forward to more of these vids. #GENIUS
Wow 🤯 this may be the best fitting I've watched on your channel and that's saying something!! I feel like this driver would help my game massively with the correct fit... excited to test it along with a few other drivers this year!!
This was GREAT!!! Sad that pretty soon Matthey won’t be an average righty. Great to have his knowledge and back & forth with Ian help feed the fitting.
The PING G425 MAX is going to be in so many Club Golfers Bags this year! Such a perfect Driver for so many players! Thanks Matty it cheered me up watching you swing right handed😉
Great job guys I am partial to the ping drivers since I bought the g400 max most consistent amd straightest driver I ever used! Would love you guys to compare from G400 max to G425 max drivers and see if there are any differences?
He’s already crushing my hopes and dreams by doing an effortless little half swing and getting as much club speed as when I’m swinging out of my shoes.
I play G425 driver, fairway woods (3, 5, and 7), and 4 hybrid. Even with these clubs, i believe there is a very different sound between a toe, center, and heel strike. Love the Tensei Orange in the driver and fairways, and the CB Alta in the hybrid.
Great video as usual. No other channel goes into as much depth into the fine details of the clubs. And it’s great to see why getting fitted is so important! 👏🏻
I love my g410 but I think this smaller weight track will be a good thing. The weight track being so long on the g410 makes a very drastic difference, almost too much. Easy solution for me was just to put lead tape out on the toe and the weight in neutral. Also, I believe you can still get the ping tour 65g shaft (fits between the tensei orange and rogue white) with the g425. I have the tour 65 in my g410 and love it. If the g425 is noticeably better than the g410 or g400, then it is going to be difficult for the other companies to keep up. The forgiveness is real :)
Driver will never be a weapon for me but when I put the 410 Plus in the bag, I wasn’t in every fairway but I was in play and that dramatically changed my game. My first Ping and the easiest club I have ever owned!
Now I can relate to these clubbed speeds. I love watching Matt's lefty swing which is very nice but the numbers don't always relate to a 95mph swing. In particular how high/low spin on various clubs reacts to speed (or lack of). Not sure how much fun it is for Matt but I hope you do this a lot more.
According to Trackman the average male driver swing speed is 93-94 mph which prior to lock down was what my swing speed prior to lock down. So this video should be for me (although I have gained a little bit of speed during lock down - even hitting 100 mph!) Now that I have watched the video, a great and interesting video. Only one downside: right handed Matt still hits the ball further than me - although I may have 25+ years extra experience over Matt
This is brilliant , Matty doing it right handed is much more like many more golfers abilities and so we see a better reflection on the driver . Great work . Like to see more like this . Ps your knowledge on what to do is also great .
Thanks for making me feel like I can drive alongside Matt! And mostly thanks for letting us know how well this can perform for some of us regular guys.
I’d be interested in seeing the lighter weight from the LST model being put into the MAX driver head. Does that knock a touch of the spin off, but maintain some of the forgiveness with the bigger head other reviewers are reporting??? Could then maybe use hot melt with the weight saved to push the MOI slightly further forward AND reduce that sound? Make a great fitting video for Matty (in lefty please!!) Loving the content guys... keep up the outstanding work. Best on RUclips by a mile
Well done lads! Even thought I live closer to "Lefty Matt" speed wise, I actually find this video more interesting. A fit that changes results as oppose to refine them is awesome to watch.
Very informative as usual. I was motivated by this video to schedule a driver fitting for the first time in my life. Unfortunately the fitter did not have the standard Ping shaft options available to test. And he never did move the weight on the G425 even though I asked him to. Very disappointing. I guess my expectations are too high after watching TXG. Thanks.
Neutering Matty by making him go righty, is one of the funniest things TXG has ever done. Cheers, lads.
It works well for simulating a high handicap fitting, too!
Matt hitting righty and still hitting consistently 260 in the fairway!! Crazy!
Best comment ever.
This guy, Matty...Unbelievable
He is better than me right handed. Life is not fair. 😢
Thanks for doing a video fitting with stock shafts. I think many of us wanted to see something like this! Appreciate you guys listening to us.
Absolutely. Most of the shafts you try are impossible to find in the UK.
@@markgilbertson1564 There's plenty of places in the UK where you can find the shafts they test on TXG......google is your friend, my friend :)

Lol, lets see if he can hit it blindfolded!
Yup
Same here .. I’m swinging out of my sox at 96, while Matt matches it quite jazzy LOL !!!
