    It sounds like the race was pretty brutal mentally, but your skill as both a player and a content creator really benefitted from the experience. Hopefully it'll lead to some well-deserved recognition.

    I just want to say that I actually found you through Scott recommending your content and although I don't comment a lot I do really enjoy your videos :D
    I do think that while races and solo runs do often share a lot of the same end goals, the competitive aspects of a race do often push the runner into more inconsistent, but faster strats in order to save time. That's not even really a negative or anything, but I can understand where that's not everyone's cup of tea. I actually personally love it though, and this video along with Scott's was really fun to watch.

      I definitely don't mind it either. It's fun to see it all come together. Scott took the high road and spun it positively in the video but behind the scenes a lot of people were questionably looking at the one person who was consistently getting runs while the rest of us had so much grind but it's water under the bridge lol.

    13:15 No shame in Stun Spore here as a safety strat for a hard encounter! 😊
    If it hits, it automatically recovers a turn, since it causes you to outspeed. Since Goldeen generally gets at least five turns unless you crit (one before paralysis + four after), it’s 68% likely to miss one or more turns to full paralysis.
    25% lose a turn (miss)
    24% turn-neutral
    51% gain one turn (or more)
    In terms of minimizing resets here, the math checks out! 👍

    Little tip. When using speed control, like stun spore, while you are slower, it's almost free, cause you get the turn back by out speeding. Similar for double Stat boosts like sword dance. One double Stat boosts doubles the damage you do, so it's the same as attacking when you'd need to multi hit ko in the first place. Same applies to defensive statboosts.
    I always see a lot of solo runners ignoring this concept instead of abusing it.

    • @GymLeaderMatt1987
      @GymLeaderMatt1987  Год назад

      Ha, some people are just dumb I guess. I talk about it in some videos but I bring up turn economy and what not here. Total turns in battle is important and with the speed badge boost, you can get a free turn as well if you only underspeed by 12.5% or less.

    Man, what a race. Not gonna lie i stopped watching Scotts video, about 20 mins in to hope you won, before he announced anything started watching yours and was like damn... I hate the luck based bs, but it is gen 1, hence the only reason Weedle could technically win the game. Anyways about the time saves comment all of those would add up to at least 5 seconds per encounter, which would technically add up to a minute, which makes or breaks a lot of times. Besides that been loving the Alolan summer. Stoked for Marowak this week. Keep up the good work brother! Excited for the surprise stream as well. Stay Real one, or just keep kicking ass.

Used one in a random casual playthrough recently and ended up being very good. Still waiting on that Nidoqueen though, imo one of the best Pokemon in Gen 1.
