For the amount of time you spent masking/unmasking, would it have been easier to roll/brush the whole thing? We have a similar house that needs its metal siding painted.
Good question! It is much quicker to spray (even when you include masking time) than to brush and roll. That is because a brush and roller have an really hard time getting into all of the nooks and seams of siding. Also spraying leaves a smooth finish while a brush/roller would leave a textured finish in the siding.
We purchased our paint and primer through our local sherwin Williams store. I highly recommend them because they will be able to match the perfect paint and primer combination for your specific painting application.
I believe my house has metal siding because I took a magnet and it stuck to it so what kind of paint do you use. Oil base or something because this will be my first time painting my house
I would highly recommend going to a Sherwin Williams store. They will be able to provide you the correct primer and paint that you need. Also be sure to clean the siding really well before painting, good prep work is what makes for a good paint job.
I’m interested on how this has held up? I have metal siding as well and am very interested in how often I’ll have to re-paint. My wife and I think we’ve found our forever home. My wife’s name is Rachael and she’s a major DIY’er herself 😂
We have never had to thin our paint for the track sprayer. We did have some overspray but that was due to us not masking off the eaves completely (which is what we do now).
Thanks! We just used a Graco Magnum Project Painter Plus for this entire house. After we finished the outside we ended upgrading to the Graco Magnum X7 to paint the inside. The X7 was much nicer spraying out of 5 gallon buckets.
Hmm... sorry but that is not true. The professional painters we have worked with will always use tape to protect anything they don't want paint to get on. Maybe lazy painters don't use tape? 🤣
The blue was a great color choice. You all are very hard workers. Super Work!
You guys are so cute 🥺 getting ready to paint my 1940s house with my husband as well 📍PA
Your mom is pretty cool. Goodjob on the painting !!
Great job painting Buddies!
Thanks!!!
2024 just watched. great tips and awesome colors
Thank you so much!!!

Nice job! 👍
What's the model of paint spray are you using?
We use the Graco X7 now for all of our painting. It is a great sprayer and easy to clean.
No mention of the brand of primer or paint that you used?
We purchased our paint and primer through our local sherwin Williams store. I highly recommend them because they will be able to match the perfect paint and primer combination for your specific painting application.
Was it oil or water base primer
How many gallons of primer and paint did this take?
Square footage ?
Sq/ft... no idea... but I believe we used 10'ish gallons of each.
Great job!
That a really nice job. Youre lucky you dont have peeling galvanized steel like on my house. You have to grind and sand to the metal.
That does sound rough!
Men of culture we meet again!!

Did you pressure wash first the aluminium siding?
Yes we did! We talk more about the washing process in this video ruclips.net/video/G-HZ57kbn4o/видео.html
You guys did a great job
Thank you!!

Hey! It has been almost 2 years since we painted it and it still looks good as new! No flaking or fading!
@@RaptorRenovation Awesome! Thanks for replying!
Looks awesome! Did you have a lot of overspray with the Graco? Did you have to thin your paint?
We have never had to thin our paint for the track sprayer. We did have some overspray but that was due to us not masking off the eaves completely (which is what we do now).
A foam roller does a really nice job for pars you cant spray.
SHE DID A GREAT JOB 😘👍
8:18 only reason we are here
🤣
Who much paint u use ???
I can not remember how many we used... maybe 10 gallons of top coat.
Dont you have to sand metal first?
Nope! Just clean it well and use a primer designed for metal siding.
You use a 411 tip?
We used a 415 tip with our sprayer.
What is the name of that blue?
Thinking of paining our cottage - blue or red?
Hmmmm that is a tough call.... We are pretty fond of blue but a nice deep/dark red would sure pop!
What happened to the old front door?!? That door was beautiful
That old front door was beautiful but it was not very sturdy or energy efficient so it had to go.
What kinda blue is this
I wish we could remember what it was! All we can remember is it was purchased through Sherwin Williams.
What Color is the blue?

💯💯💯
Hey, is that Springfield Illinois?!
We are in Springfield Missouri
I liked the beige better. The blue is too bright. A deeper grey blue would’ve looked better
Thanks for your opinion!
looks great!!!

Coping
Why are clueless amateurs pretending to give other amatuers solid advice??
Well that's seems a bit harsh... but we welcome any advice you may have to share about painting metal siding!
Lol no diyers need to tape. Good painters dont need to tape
Hmm... sorry but that is not true. The professional painters we have worked with will always use tape to protect anything they don't want paint to get on.
Maybe lazy painters don't use tape? 🤣
No good painters that take pride in their work woth steady hands doesnt need tape. Tape is fir sloppy painters
🤣😂🤣😂
More of a 'How We' than a 'How To'
😎
Great job 👏
Thank You!
