Flip House Episode 5: Shed Makeover

- When I first bought the flip house, I assumed the shabby shed in the back of the yard was a liability and would immediately go away. But then I started removing the overgrowth and took a closer look and realized it as actually in great shape and would be an easy makeover. After removing the deteriorating screen and the old swing from the area, I cut back the weeds and overgrowth. Next I gave the shed a power wash to remove dirt and mildew. This is a metal shed so there was a little rust to content with but nothing major so I painted it with an oil based metal paint in a dark gray color to easily cover the stains in one coat. Some simple planting and a cute barn light over the door and this shed is good as new! I am so pleased with how it turned out... under $100 and a day of my time and it's like there's a whole new shed back there.

❤ the light seems like a good idea
So glad I came across your video, we have the same shed colour and want to paint it dark grey 😊 looks great 👍 👌
Amazing
Awesome import on the shed. The light is a great idea. It will provide a bit of light into the shed as well as at the threshold/door.
Beautiful job!
The shed looks amazing Charlotte! Such a quick, budgetfriendly and impactful makeover.
I found you recently through an Apartment Theory home tour and afterwards subscribed to your channel. You're so fun to watch, easy to follow and your video's are well filmed + edited.
Good luck and have fun with all your current/future projects & I'm looking forward to seeing all the progress :)
Yay, Charlotte! It looks so great...and its such useful storage!
Looks so much better. Though I would’ve painted the base too (with exterior wood paint) as just like a deck, if you don’t the wood can easily mold, get bugs, dry out, rot, etc. and then the critters make a home inside too.
A better more low maintenance base would be brick or pavers. They’re more expensive to lay as a base but lower maintenance; needs sand every now and then to fill in gaps. However they last longer than wood so cheaper long term maintenance wise and replacement time wise.
I wish I could come to Connecticut for a week and help ! This is such an exciting project.
The shed looks so pretty!
looks great,lady.nice job
Fantastic work Miss.Amazing what some cleaning and paint can do. Good choice on oil paint on metal. Latex sucks on metal.
Looks amazing🙌🏻😍😍
Absolutely love your channel, you are so incredibly inspiring! This turned out really fabulous, the handle represents and light made such a difference!
I may be mistaken but here in Colorado we have those same plants you dug up, I think it’s burdock & might be where the thorny burrs come from as well! It’s supposedly medicinal but definitely not worth the burrs.
you are incredibly strong & talented ...
Looks great!!!
Thanks!!
looks great btw you can get custom shade exterior paint and you can just get it in satin so its in between flat and glossy
Nice work
just the inspiration I need to tackle my ugly shed
❤Great video❤ Looks amazing ❤Thank you so much❤
❤ beautiful ❤
Great Work what is the name of the chainsaw that you use and where did you purchase it from?
What’s the size of the shed that one is perfect
hey do you think you would be able to insulate a metal shed?
I’m totally doing this but I think I need to paint the roof, too. It looks rough.
If you had to paint your roof, what color would you use? The same as mix? Maybe a brown to match the door trim you left unpainted?
Hmmm.... I might go with one color slightly different... so a true black or a slightly lighter gray?
Paint is also a preservative when applied to wood and would increase the lifespan of the bottom of your frame if painted.
Yep! That's all pressure treated ground contact lumber so should hold up well regardless.
@@AtCharlottesHouse If you paint one side and leave one side as is the as is side will need to be replaced several time before the painted will.
That plant is burdock. Edible roots.
I have a shed about the exact same size and actually looks pretty similar to your before picture. Just wondering how many cans of the Rust-Oleum paint you had to use? And did you paint the back side?
thank you. Money is really really tight right now and I can't decide before I have an estimated cost.
I made a custom color so ended up mixing paint a bit, but... no more than 1 quart! I left the back without paint. :)
@@AtCharlottesHouse thank you
