This is quite fascinating! I have also dived into the whole Generation theory, and have come up with my own ideas.
I did use typical human years for a generation (aka 20 to 30 years) for how did anyone age, because how they aged wasn't specified. Also, it's been said that Spyro/Cynder is 12 years old in ANB and TEN, therefore making them 15 in DotD. They looked to be suitable teenagers at that age, and I'd say that how they grow is comparable to humans.
It's stated that Purple Dragons are born only once every 10 generations, but if that's so, does that mean other purple dragons have been born before Malefor and Spyro? The Chronicler said that his records *nearly* dated back to the beginning of time, and *almost* all of the Dragon history was in his possession... So is it fair for him to say that Malefor was the first purple Dragon if he doesn't know everything? Malefor even challenges this fact, saying there were many.
I also theorize that the purple spiritual dragons who emerged from the core to imprison Malefor in DotD were actually the purple Dragons of the past. Ignitus said that when a dragon dies, their spirit binds with nature and offers hope for the future. The core was purple, and the dragon spirits were purple. How coincidental is it that the important purple dragons merged with the core of the Earth?
    That's what I think anyway.
Thanks for bringing so much light to this nostalgic game!

One of the things i always consider is that Jared Pullen once stated that Ignitus is not only 700 years old but he is also considered to be young.
With this, I also try to guesstimate at what age dragons become sexually mature in this world. That would help designate a pattern for when a generation has progressed and how long it takes to do so.

I was always a fan of the 12 year cycle of breeding speculation of year of the dragon but the different canons could mean anything

This has been one of the topics I've been trying to come with an explanation for a long time.
Yeah, taking in consideration about Malefor, the age of the Chronicler, and the ages of the guardians, how much is a generation exactly in the universe of TLOS?
I like the Year of the Dragon theory, but being 12 years, resulting in ten generation 120 years, and that the guardians are 250 years old (probably), along the fact that dragon eggs can take decades to hatch, wouldn't make sense imo.
About the tortoise thing, seeing how they can live up 400 years, does make sense in the generation hypothesis and make it up the kind to live longer withoit getting extinted.
But, thinking about it, if the Chronicler was there when Malefor was young, and if the Chronicler is one, maybe two thousand years old, but Malefor said there were others before him, and he was imprisoned for years, what does it mean exactly?
Now, what if... Malefor is not a dragon, and instead, is an entity that takes possesion of every purple dragon?
I say this, because according to the fact about the dragon statue in the Swamp Temple, saying that it represents both Malefor, and the purple dragon cycle, could mean that every purple dragon reached a similar look to the statue, making it almost every purple dragon be similar.
Also, we know that Malefor embraced the darkness and let himself be corrupted, and maybe that also changed his body, like the corruption did with Cynder.
So, maybe (a *BIG* _maybe_ ), the Chronicler met Malefor, but this one let the corruption seduce him, he was defeated by another purple dragon, but this one also was corrupted and the entity came back as "Malefor", the one Spyro and Cynder fight, like a cycle.
And as we know, the Chonicler lived for thousands of years, so maybe the entity could take the dragons and still be one...
Sorry if this sounds very farfetched or even confusing as I don't know if this does make any sense.
    Anyway, great video!
Really, the ammount of investigation and reseach you did is impressive, and totally worth it of a topic very mysterious and unknown as the generations.
Because, I also thought that a generation would be 100 years as it seems the logical thing in humans, but we talk about The Legend of Spyro, where that world has its own rules and laws of time and space, which can be totally different from ours.
Wow, it has been really exciting to hear your theories about generations to make sense in the timeline of events without losing track, that's kinda hard.
    You really surprised me, again.
    Keep doing a great work!

Not gonna lie, this Chronicler info blew my mind. Really nice more video you made there! :)
My headcanon is that a generation for dragons is around circa 100 years old.

Funny u should mention that. After lookin thru google in relation to the Chronicler i was surprised to notice info in relation to the age of the Chronicler character and even i myself was shocked speechless about the Chronicler's age. The age of the chronicler himself is quite a big one at about an astonishingly 2000+ years old? if im not mistaken? that would make the Chronicler the olderst character in the entire Legend Of Spyro universe much older than all the other characters all together including not just Cynder and Spyro but including even the Guardians themselves too hah and i woulden imagine how old the ancient dark master malefor would be given how long he and his essance have been imprisoned in both the former the very mountain fortress that has bared his name aka the Well Of Souls while his essance has been impisoned in the Conexity portle (alter)

A generation could probably be something in between the 20's and 30's
Considering the fact the year of the dragon is every 12 years, it could probably be that every two years of the dragon, or every 24 years a new generation is born, so yeah I guess 24 years could probably be the amount of time each generation could have, again this isn't meant to say that dragons only hatch on that day...
Still quite an interesting topic to talk about...

This is probably the most amount of research I've ever seen you put into any video and it's amazing.
This is actually a question I had and it is kinda confusing since I'm writing a story in the LoS series and trying to have an exact timeline is just awkward without all the detail. This is a nice summary of the definition tho. This is great man! A new favorite of mine.
Only thing I don't agree with is "eggs can take decades to hatch" that seems A bit much for me XD. I usually like to take Jared Pullen's answers as canon sinCE they're all we have to go off of but that I'm reconsidering XD

I personally like the thought of Dragons reaching maturity around 30-40 years, makes sense to me
Tho, dragon eggs taking decades to hatch is just silly imo, for my personal head cannon at least I feel like 6 months to a year is better for a dragon egg to incubate

If I’ve learned anything about dragons, is that they can live for over 100 to 1,000 years. That’s what makes them magical. And in some ways, like humans, Spyro and Cynder can be 13 to 17 to be teenagers. Spyro’s egg may have been around as soon as Malefor heard the rumor while imprisoned. And the wiki never mentioned how long the guardians lived.

I'm going by Dragonolgy for my fanfic projects, where dragons live between 250-500 years. And Purple Dragons are born every 10 Dragon generations, Malefor would possibly be as old as the current iteration of Earth. He destroyed the world once, but it was such an obscure event that it's been forgotten about / covered up.

Of course even if we figure out how many years a generation is, we would still need to know how many TLoS years equal an Earth year. Always funny whenever fantasy stories mention years and stuff despite then living on a totally different planet than Earth.
But if a generation is only twelve earth years and dragons live thousands of years, then they must be breeding like rabbit. You'd think they'd overrun their whole planet that way.

Apparently the reason spyro and cynder aged up in dawn of the dragon because of the new ps3/Xbox 360 hardware at the time and the developers wanted to take fully advantage of it too. Makes the most sense to me.

In LoS, the year of the dragon can merely refer to the Chinese zodiac for Chinese New Year. For an example, 2012 was the year of the dragon.

Have you watched MyLittlePony FIM because do you think there is a game theory where Spike is Spyro’s Brother also Twilight especially as an alicorn feels like Spyro but a horse.

Personally I still think we’re a long way off from Spyro 4. Especially with the new Microsoft Bethesda acquisition it could be another 2-3 years at best hopefully…

Do you know that RUclipsR name Crystalblazier? Said The legend of Spyro game development not logic product canon between Dawn of the Dragon and first two game made by Krome Studio. ELB made unpolished game based off Crystalblazier said.
