finishing the future redeemed honestly left me feeling this loss, this emptiness inside. my journey with xenoblade began on the wii during a time of deep depression and loneliness and each additional release found me at a very different place in my life, almost like me and the series were growing together. this might sound dramatic, but really cant imagine my life without the xeno franchise on a whole.

There is a lot of irony in Xenoblade 3 really being a game you don’t want to end, given its themes juxtaposed that. But at the same time, is it so ironic in intention? The game acknowledges the tasking emotions that want us to instinctually cling to the moment. Also the amount of layers that you can pull from Xenoblade 3, as one who loves to be on that media literacy grind, this game is a good study.

Xenoblade Chronicles made me feel things that I didn’t know I could feel. No game has given me those feelings still to this day. I don’t like one more than the other, it’s all just perfect. When I finished future Redeemed, I felt fulfilled but as time went on I felt unbelievably empty. Now I’m at a point in my life where I’m trying to feel those feelings again and it hurts because i’m trying and I am getting somewhere but it feels out of reach. It’s just so wild, I didn’t think that when I had bought all three games and their DLCs that once I finished the journey it would leave me in such an empty state. I used to be so tired of life and I honestly wanted to die but Xenoblade changed me, this franchise may have saved my life.

2 was my introduction into the series and after playing the game I fell in love with the series.
Like you said, every game is the best.
Love every character, absolutely love the soundtrack and love the narrative of each game. If xc4 or a successor ever gets announced then I need to try to complete every side quest and boss of each game. I think aside the dlc for each game, I haven't done any super boss of main games.
Speaking about the ending......I wish I could have seen the 3 characters reunion.
Would have loved to see how both worlds after merging would look like.

  • @OxygenC2
    @OxygenC2 12 дней назад

I said this before in another video.
Basically, 1 and 3 are for story focused gamers. That's why the gameplay is linear and you could ignore side quests as much as you wanted and still beat endgame comfortably. 3 was also basically a love letter to 1. The combat systems were straightforward. Ouroboros is a get out of jail free card, Chain Attacks were easy to execute, and the Holy Trinity of Tank, DPS, and Healer were the surefire way of progressing.
On the other hand, 2 and X are for lore focused gamers. You need to be focused on living in the world and not rush to the next story section in order to appreciate the game in its entirety. The stuff that bothers story focused gamers like bad tutorials and the Blade gacha don't nearly bother lore focused gamers as much, because they like game mechanics being tied into the world and experimenting. That's how stuff like stutter stepping in 2 is discovered.
Overleveling is a thing in 1 and 3, but not in 2 and X. That's how you know the difference basically.

11:45 I think the way the game was marketed and talked about pre-launch kinda negatively impacted people’s expectations for the game and left a lot of people feeling disappointed when the game didn’t end with fighting the reincarnation of Zanza where Rex comes out of a portal, says “I’ll show em a thing or three!” And then Shulk says “Xenoblades! Assemble!” I really hope there’s a wave of replays in a couple years before Xenoblade 4 comes out where those people really truly appreciate Xenoblade 3 for what it’s trying to be, which is another standalone story, it just so happens to take place after 2 previous stories and their expansions, especially since we now know all that fan service was relegated to Future Redeemed.

A bit late to the party, but let me make my case for my personal favourite, XC1:
For me, this game has just everything: big, open maps which I loved to explore, an interesting and fast-paced combat system that made me enjoy every single fight (except Lorithia, but then again this isn´t really a fault of the combat system itself), a story that got me hooked within the first hour of gameplay and managed to never let go until the credits rolled, well-executed story twists on top, a very likeable cast of main characters (all hail best character Heropon Riki) whose stories grew on me, an absolutely GOATed OST...
Other games (whether Xenoblade or not) could equal some of the aspects, rarely even surpass them, but they could never match all of them. To me, XC1 ist just a perfect and well-executed mix of everything I like and want to have in a RPG.
    (The other games IMO tl;dr:
FC: Alright, I mean it´s still based on XC1, but with flaws in the story and the map/overworld.
XCX: The underrated one. Has a lot of potential, but you can tell Monolith decided to rework major parts of it months before release, resulting in some cracks, esp. in the main story. But also: XCX DE HYPE!!!
XC2: The one I really tried to love, but just can´t. To many things just don´t work with me.
Torna: Started, dropped mid-way. Solved some problems of XC2, but also created others, esp. forcing side-quests to progress the main story...
XC3: Way better than XC2, but can´t quite reach XC1. While the story was fine, the BBEG/Moebius... the entirety of XC3 tried, but failed to make them feel interesting and/or impactful to me.
FR: Never gotten around to play it so far, but will do almost certainly.
Also: best girl in XC series is a super close fight between Eunie and Pandorya. Fight me.)

    My journey:
Watched chuggaconroy play xenoblade one after seeing shulk in smash and was hooked like it felt like watching a tv show, and so i realllllllly wanted to play it but never could find a copy but glad i witnessed the journey of shulk and gang
Then xenoblade 2 came out, and i was hyped but again couldnt afford it so I watched it online but when i saw it for cheap at a pawn shop (like 2018 or 19) i finally got it and played the ever loving crap out of it, like 120-40 hrs and i loved it had some major issues but was absorbed by the positives
Then definitve edition was announced but thought i didnt need to play it so i kinda ignored it but then xenoblade 3 was announced and i was HYPED BEYOND BELIEF
SO during university i bought and played the heck out of xenobalde one with a fresh perspective since i had not seen the story in years and was wowed by it again and how drawn in i was by the characters and how fun each one played.
Finally Xenoblade 3 came out i bought it day one and experienced first hand geeking out about each story beat and the characters and chapter 5 like i was locked in and pretty much 100% all the quests before the final boss and at first was disapointed as i didnt get the ending but when i watched analysis videos i became obsessed with the game watching hours upon hours for the symbolism that touched me personally during a rough time in uni.
Then future redeemed came out and wowed me so much i didnt think it was possible, like the emotional investment and gameplay perfection in that dlc was my favoruite thing in the entire series and made me revaluate 3 and the previous games. Like the ending still sticks in my mind and the final boss theme is my ringtone
So in relation to your video 3 is my favourite as it related to my life and was the first game i didnt watch before playing and it absolutely absorbed me in a
brilliant story before future redeemed made me experience a zenith of fiction i won't experience anytime soon
Xenoblade is amazing and i look forward to trying X for the first time in 2025

While I think that Xenoblade 2 is my favorite game in the series, Xenoblade X still has a special place in my heart for the fact that it was my gateway into the series, and I still love the exploration and movement and the world of Mira. Not to mention, the combat which is a great streamlined version of Xenoblade 1's. The character building was really incredible ass well, and the sidequests and sidestories were really where a lot of the game's soul are found.
It's really too bad that XCX's 10GB performance patch was lost when the Wii U EShop went down.

I like all the xenoblades, but xenoblade 2 is my fav xenoblade with some of my fav jrpg characters and one of my fav soundtracks of all time. The story just got me in the feels and had more impact on me than the others and the whole cast felt so fleshed out, I liked how the interactions with the people of alrest changed over time with all the conflicts, it felt like an ever evolving world, it felt alive. And Rex was such a good written protagonist, people that say he's a generic jrpg protag don't really understand his character and either didn't beat the game or didn't pay attention, I mean we see him actually break down and give up and then grow up as a person. And Mythra is my fav character other than Rex in the game because of her tragic backstory, plus I like tsunderes unlike most people, I'm a long time anime/manga fan. I like all the xenoblades though xenoblade 3 as much as I like it is too flawed in the open world layout and the locations of the quests to start them, and the story has way too many unanswered questions and has bad pacing and feels like it ends too soon and the last chapters are worse than the rest of the game. Future redeemed was better but even it didn't fix what was wrong with 3. Also I feel xenoblade 2's combat was still alot better, just had bad tutorials, I guarantee if it wasn't for that and if it was easier to learn, people would prefer 2's combat over 3, it just feels way more satisfying pulling off a chain attack in 2. Also no chain attack music all the time and I prefer full bursts. Also the whole needing high attack stat to continue a chain attack in 3 I hate, that and the way aggro and accessories work in 3 and how only healers can revive people now unless you use an accessory. And don't get me started on 3's grind for gear and classes and for the super bosses and the arts for Soulhacker. There's a ton of stuff I dislike about 3 even though I like the game. Xenoblade 2 was overall a better experience for me.

Ok, I'll also add that while 3 is great, and really grew on me after beating it and thinking back on it for a while, a lot of it really put me off during the initial playthough.
A couple big things were: the 3rd act feels like it blows past way too fast. When I got ot the final boss fight I was gobsmacked. I thought there must be another chapter or two left at least.
I also felt like it didn't have a truly mindblowing reveal in the third act along the lines of 1 and 2 - which was another reason I could not believe I had reached the end of the story. The closest the game has is the eclipse stuff in chapter 5, which is great! But that's it? XC2 had multiple moments that felt like that to me leading up to the grand finale.
The music was way more of a slow burn, as well. Now, after sooo much time with the music, I really love it. But on the first playthrough I was really underwhelmed compared to the bombastic grandiosity of the 2 soundtrack.
And again, compared to 2 everything is very somber, serious and sullen. I felt like Monolith had heard everyone complain about the silliness of 2 and overcorrected. I was really disappointed by that, even though I understand it fits with the setting of Aionios, which is a pretty bleak existence. But running around Alrest is such a blast, it's such a beautiful place that you want to save and would love to inhabit. Running around Aionios is running around a depressing hell-world that is ocassionally kinda pretty, but never (as the story essentially demands) as lovely as Aionios. Again, felt like an overcorrection in response to criticism of 2, and also felt like they were boxed in by the story to never let the world or music seem too nice, because the world is bad.
Again, in hindsight I like it much more than when I first played it, but it was tough on the first go-round.
And Future Redeemed fixed pretty much every complaint I had about the base game. Future Redeemed is some of the most fun I've ever had playing a Xeno game, and I *super* love Matthew. Matthew & Rex, best protags imo. Give me those idiots over serious and somber Shulk and Rex any day.

I had a very rough first experience with the first half of the game, but the 2nd half improved the first half, and now the only thing that can ruin my fun is when the game crashes.
    - Future Redeemed is a close 2nd for being the best experience from beginning to end. Filling out those lists was perfection, and oh man, the story.
    - TTGC having a refined version of 2's gameplay and adding so much to certain characters easily made it 2nd place before FR came out.
    - XCDE is an amazing game that I don't have many problems with compared to the ones above, love the combat, and the story is good for the most part. I'd say my only big issue with XC1 is how one of the characters barely registered as a background character when important things were happening, where as the equivalent in XC2 at least gets to be in fight scenes.
    - XC3 is a game I wish I could've enjoyed more, but unfortunately it started ending just as I was finally getting into it.
    - FC is XC1 but very small. I have nothing against FC, but I also don't have enough against 3 to put it below what's basically a brief epilogue. I'm not even sure if I should be ranking this separately from DE.
    - I haven't played X. Would probably put it above XCDE just going off the music and how the exploration looks.

nah not really, we can prove 1 is better than X, and then X is better than 3, and then 3 is better than 2, we have access to the content of each game, we can see which one have shallow gameplays, which one have nonsensical stories, which ones have good characters, which one has the better offering, and when you do, there's a clear ranking that is innevitable to get if you did it rightt
    Xenoblade 1 > X > 3 >>>>>>>>>>>>2

X is amazing as a game, by far the best exploration and RPG elements, but is nowhere close to the others in terms of story and characters. Hands down the best Wii U game, but lacks of many things I'll always look for when playing a Xenoblade game, thats why I find hard to rank it above the others. My ranking would be basically the same as you though, but each Xenoblade shines in different aspects, that is why there is so many opinions about them.
