The terminals in Agniritha that give you quests kinda reminds me of the short story "There will Come Soft Rains" where a house of the future has automated technology that is going about it's normal daily routines despite the fact that the house is wasting away after a nuclear blast annihilates all the nearby people. It really added to the sombre tone and the feeling of exploring the remains of a society that had a sudden and tragic end. Like the terminals act as a sort of dispatch for improving living conditions and taking care of threats for the residents, but the reality is that these quests benefit no one.
There was actually a surprising amount of exploration in the mechonis sword between the top pathways, the mechon fortresses, a few branching pathways, the mines and the secret crater like area once you defeat the unique monster m100
Interesting ranking to say the least. Mine would give Sword Valley and Mechonis Field a much higher rank. I really love the atmosphere of Sword Valley and missed it when it was gone. And to me Mechonis Field simply has the best area theme of the game, so i'll take every annoying elevator and switch to make more detours and hear it for a longer time x)
I personally wished you could visit the sword after it was cut in half, like they could have an area like the fallen arm except for the sword, or they could've extended the fallen arm area to include the sword as well.
I personally really liked the bionis shoulder and thought it made better use of its space than any other area in the game. Visually it's nothing special but from a level design perspective I think it's the best in the game
To be honest, I completely forgot that Mechonis Core was even considered a seperate area on the map, and I played Definitive Edition only a few months ago.
Eryth sea’s music is just so good its an immediate S tier area. I dont reallt mind the exploration since you can just auto run/swim Fallen Arm is right there with the music
Great list dude. I differ from your ranking on a few points, but I was gratified that my #1 is the same. Valak Mountain is hands-down the most exciting region to traverse.
Alcomoth's lack of Skip Travel Points (especially on the 1nd floor) really brings it down for me, questing in it (even with max Quickstep) takes so much unnecessary time running around.
Just gonna leave my personal ranking here: 1 Satorl Marsh (Nighttime is stunning but daytime is underrated too) 2 Valak Mountain 3 Bionis' Leg (MUSIC) 4 Central Factory (Shocked you put it so low, there's a lot to do and I like how the parts link together) 5 Agniratha 6 Bionis' Shoulder 7 Fallen Arm 8 Mechonis Field 9 Prison Island 10 Alcamoth 11 Colony 9 12 Makna Forest 13 Sword Valley 14 Tephra Cave 15 Eryth Sea (Beautiful but I'm not too fond of the layout, and not just regarding excessive swimming) 16 Galahad Fortress 17 Frontier Village (Bit confusing to navigate on the first playthrough) 18 Colony 6 19 Ether Mine 20 High Entia Tomb 21 Bionis Interior (Still dont hate it, but the layout is boring being stuck on the paths and the music is only ok, which makes it bad by Xenoblade standards)
For me mechonis field is one of my least favourite areas as the colours are rather bland and it's always a drag to venture through on new playthroughs and ng+ it's also annoying how there is only one way to get the machina sniper and that's to kill a mechon and if you progress too quickly you just can't get it.
It sucks that some of the coolest looking areas in the game are a pain in the ass gameplay-wise. Valak Mountain was always a bit annoying to traverse and Satorl Marsh is covered in extremely high level enemies when it looks interesting. Eryth Sea suffers a bit in terms of traversal too. I'd say the reason why Uraya is my favourite XC area is because it looks amazing _and_ it isn't fucking annoying.
Only from Xenoblade 1 or from all the games? Anyway this sounds like a good idea for a video, I have a few videos I need to finish before that but I'll definitely remember it
@@MaxMonado yup, ESPECIALLY when some of them are apparently locked being quests that you can do only at very precise moments... I'm looking at you Alcamoth. At least Definitive Edition had the "walk infinitly" button. It probably saved my Joy Con from drifting lmao
Snow areas are always my least favourite, deserts and green areas r always my favourite, so valak mountain is one of my lowest, and i didnt like how it was sloped
I like the music in Galahad more and it had more variety in terms of its objectives and environments. Btw thanks for the kind words in your other comment, have some other priorities for now but I'll make a video for the areas from 2 eventually
@@justaguywholikesfmab823 If you have enough party gauge they will always revive you from my experience, sometimes when there's something blocking their they get stuck but I can't think aside from that.
I have to disagree with you here. To me Valak mountain is the worst area in the entire franchise. It's very unclean how to get from one place to another and the constant slopes makes it feel like you are breaking the games collision detection when you just walk down a hill. And it's so long with how it has you zig zaging between locations to make progress. Yes the night atmosphere and ice physics are fun but that isn't enough to save it. The night atmosphere is at best putting a better coat of paint on a bad area that still isn't fun to explore. And while the ice physics are great they are only used occasionally and they just serve to remind the player of how slow the default walking speed is. And as bad or boring as areas like sword valley and bionis interior may be they are at least relatively short
Let us not forget Valak Mountain also has the best part of the story being the discovery of Dunban being over there
16:00 I had NO idea that was there! it's crazy how you can just keep learning new things about this game, even after all this time
Yeah me neither, I was so confused

The wii footage in the vid made me miss the, as chuggaconroy called it, the red crazy taxi arrow
It's weird but seeing wii Xenoblade footage makes me a bit nostalgic

Fair honestly, I got my mind changed on Sword Valley too recently so I'd place that area higher today

To be honest, I completely forgot that Mechonis Core was even considered a seperate area on the map, and I played Definitive Edition only a few months ago.
That's fair lol you only fight Egil there and that's it
Rest in peace Memories End enjoyers

Happy to see more Valak Mountain enjoyers
5:56 Dunban looks like N in that shot. I genuinely was like "WHAAATTT!!! WHEN DID THAT DLC GET ADDED!" before i realised it was just Dunban over there
Alcomoth's lack of Skip Travel Points (especially on the 1nd floor) really brings it down for me, questing in it (even with max Quickstep) takes so much unnecessary time running around.
That's fair actually, I never really considered that but especially after Mechonis Core this could be a chore

Just finished 2 and can’t wait to see the old Torna locations
Then Xenoblade X comes along with Sylvalum at night ;)

I would probably merge Mechonis Core with Central Factory when it comes to ratings. Cause I see that arena as part of that larger area.
Sounds fair yeah
Great video
Thank you!
Interesting ranking :D I think for me, I might place Makna a lot higher, and Valak lower :)
Thanks :D

Which version of Xenoblade Chronicles do you like most?
Probably definitive edition, I love the graphical upgrades for Xenoblade 1 (sorry for thelate awnser btw)
You should do one for the rest of the xenoblade games, although i dont think any of them have as good areas as xc1
Will do one day!
I actually like the areas more in Xc2, especially the cities felt way more alive.
Very late but I finally did it lol, a lot of things came between it haha
7:03 Colony 6:

Day Satorl Marsh>Night
Could you please do Xenoblade 2 and 3?
