    DFWFPV did a whole interview video with Evan about the design concepts of the FlipSwitch if you want to hear the details from him on it.
    We also have a live stream of building the prototype where we talk about some of the concerns JB mentioned.

      Spill the tea did an interview on their livestream with both of them as well. Great stream. I’ll have to check your vid out. Thanks bro!

    Let's say you get a 3 foot branch. You could easily break it, at least with your knee. But once it gets smaller and smaller, more difficult it's to break it.

    I Have a Five33 FlipSwitch the front is PERFECT for a stock walksnail vtx no extended wire needed. The Avatar vtx does not even need a mount it pinches on the camera frame and step up.
    THUS leaving room for whatever you want in the back. Its VERY light weight. In the back of mine i have a large copastor and receiver. I LOVE MINE. Crashed it pretty hard and I see no damage at all.

      How much space do you have for the esc and fc? THANKS

    I just got my two Flipswitch frames last week.
    Love the design and for those who are worried about where to put the receiver.
    There's plenty of space in the back next to the O3 to put an elrs receiver.
    You could also put a receiver (or something else) in the hollow space between the arms and the bottom plates but it would not be very accessable.
    Hope there will be more stl files available soon for gps and antenna mounting options but other than that I'm pretty happy so far.

      I put my receiver in that hollow space on my vannystyle pro which is a really similar frame

    It's very tight with the split top deck. I run the none split deck. Receiver up front

    It's a good frame. I personally like flying my own designs, but I wanted to try out a community driven project. Definitely need to put a little forethought into the build, but it wasn't bad. The end result, it flies great. I would note that the cam mounting is not optimal. The mounting is best suited for either 03 or a nano camera. Way too close if you are looking to run a standard micro cam, and especially too close if you are looking at walksnail's pro cam. I'm running hdzero with the nano90 in my build. I uploaded one antenna mount so far.

    I made my split lower deck frame 22mm in the back, 30mm in the front. Pretty comfy size. I was considering making it 20/28 or 18/26 but I like the idea of people being able to build it however they want easily. But then I just went and open sourced it all and so far it's in the air with 5, 5.5 and 6 inch arms in both deadcat and squished X configurations. Nothing like building what you want for yourself and ending up having other people liking it and flying it too :)

    It's 15-18mm. Usually I don't like split decks. The way this is tied in and the back 3d prints are pretty versatile. It spins like a bullet with an action camera on. He made it so you don't have to run high angles on your action camera. However it's actually super tight like you mentioned.

    Not sure how I feel about the Split deck but def not a fan of the single rear standoff. I had a moongoat with the same thing and it was a nightmare with rear antenna mounts. Not many designs for it so good luck unless you design and print your own. Slam frames also make it challenging for space for Caps and even decent lipo straps. Unless you turn your stack around but lots of new pilots can't do that yet. Great video but I'll stick with my Quadmula 😎

    What is the theoretical optimal center of mass height? Do we want the weight as close to the centerline of the prop or with the gyro on the FC? Is there a relation.

    18mm I have an O3 in a 3.5 with a 650 4s weighs 205grams and it rips! Ppl are lazy with slammed but slammed is best! better center of gravity! True X also and no props in view :)

    It's time for single-board fc/esc to be a thing in the 5"class, which would make designs like this much more practical.

    • @HunnyFPV
      @HunnyFPV 4 месяца назад

      Sure, that will make your 5-inch even more prone to failure (AIOs are less reliable, that's a fact), so manufacturers and shops will be even happier. Let's do it!

    They need to start making un for light and durability. I build cut my own frames and the difference is felt.

    Split deck also helps reduce vibrations, I think.. (At least Chris Rosser found out when analyzing the Apex frame?)

    split bottom plate designs don't have more parts if you made it a mono bottom plate it would still need some other plate to sandwich the the arm junction like all the frames before split bottom plate designs

    The community specifically asked them to fit the air unit cause reviewers keep pushing the latest and greatest and some of us have tons of perfectly fine air units that few are making frames that fit.

    It slammed enough. It doesn't need to split top. Also let's stop with the toilet tank because does that really help anything? I don't, it just easier for your battery to become loose and the probability of you ruining your batteries and props.

    • @Inertia888
      @Inertia888 4 месяца назад +1

      I agree, I don't like the Toilet Tank either. If I was building this frame, I'd put a battery strap behind the rear FC standoffs, and a forward battery strap, behind the front FC standoffs.

      @timmytson1 4 месяца назад

      @@Inertia888 I tried the toilet tank . Def wasn't confident after small bumps. I went with two straps and the flat top deck

    That top plate not being symmetric left/right KILLS me, I don't like that look. Also that very acute angle around the second most forward screw to the left of the drone is going to cause a huge stress riser there, not that broken top plates is really an issue.

    • @woltervandenberg
      @woltervandenberg 4 месяца назад
