    So many guitar channels with substandard camera work, audio quality, guitar sounds, playing ability of the demonstrator.....this isn´t one of them....great tones and great chops! Keep it up!

    Thanks for this - I've been waiting for this one for a while now. Looking forward to seeing the PT20 VS The Mini DS (and maybe the new JJ Jr, too?). Thanks again - I'll be making the pilgrimage over to Peach later this year.

    Hey Jack! Thanks for the demos on the Friedman line of amplifiers. I've only seen one here in Seattle over the years and have never played through one. I know they sound killer and all and the build quality is fantastic but I'll take my Dr Z, Z Wreck any day of the week! But thanks a lot for enlightening me and I got to say I like the long hair better and your chops while they were killer in this video have just got off the map in the two years since you recorded this! You are one in a million dude!

    Love this series. I'm kinda like John - stick to a handful (or two) of guitars, but love to experiment with amps. Would love to see Morgan, TR, Carol Ann and/or Matchless on here, if possible.
    Cheers

    Great amps. By fav is the be50 deluxe cause it has that great clean sound. Better clean than fender IMO. Maybe not better but different. More mid ranged. And the drive channels are terrific. No fizz and not flabby. But such an expensive amp ! Still you get 3 usable channels and so much tone potential sculpting it’s probably worth it.

    Nice demo and overview; perhaps I missed it but what speaker cab/speakers were used? It looks like the Friedman 4x12 is being used but any insight is appreciated.

    They need to sign Marty Friedman to their sig artist list so that they can name the amp ‘Marty’s Filthy Lucre'

    I dig all the videos, but there seems to routinely be missing one important key gear info… I’m sure anyone can take a guess. Will you guys please let us tone hounds know what has been driving your sound waves and last in chain?

      I own the BE 100 and the Dirty Shirley 40 watt. Pretty well covers my dirty sounds, but with Daves Amps, they all sound different, so I might not stop hear.

    Wow! the Runt 50's clean channel beats them all! I think.

    • @cardbored_
      @cardbored_ 3 года назад

      I had a Runt 50 at one point, the clean tone is amazing for sure but is also quite bright. I own a SmallBox and a Dirty Shirley 40 and prefer them over the runt, but if clean tone is what you’re after the Runt 50 sure is a great option, the Buxom Betty is as well, they’re very similar clean tones.

    Great video. A couple of mistakes in your labelling of the amps...e.g., Runt 50 is not a single-channel amp. It's a 2-channel amp with a boost function (or cut...as Dave F. likes to describe it). Also, the BE50 Deluxe is a 3-channel amp, not a 2-channel amp. There may be some other mistakes...but, a lot of ground to cover. Well done! Also, noticed your Masters are all WAY UP THERE at a setting that you could not be sitting there next to them without feedback issues. How is this recorded? Obviously, your going into some sort of load box / direct cab emulation setup. Can you please detail? Thanks again. Great video!!

    What’s the difference between the Small box 50 and the Runt?

    • @MarkPritchardGuitar
      @MarkPritchardGuitar 5 лет назад +1

      The Smallbox is voiced more vintage, it has a plexi channel and a vintage style BE channel. The Runt has a dirty channel and a straight clean channel, the dirty channel is very similar to the BE channel.

    • @honeynut2307
      @honeynut2307 5 лет назад

      The Price Difference is that the Small Box is Handwired and the Runt is PCB...Both Are Great!!!! Some Time from now the Small Box will be easier to repair...I have played the Small Box and had the Dirty Shirley and Runt 20...The latter of the 2 amps seemed more open and what I was after...You should play them all!!!

    • @tomulator
      @tomulator 5 лет назад

      Runt 50 also has a terrific speaker emulated out that is just KILLER for FOH application live and/or recording send. It's PC board based but, is of extremely HIGH quality and is built like a TANK. Gigged mine many times with no issues.

    • @cardbored_
      @cardbored_ 3 года назад

      Yeah, I really don’t understand why people are still buying 100w heads and 4x12’s anymore. I have to imagine 90% of guitarists have no real need for that high wattage. People needed those back in the 60’s and 70’s when PA’s sucked. Clubs are wanting people to turn down more and more. I have a SmallBox and a Dirty Shirley 40 and both of those amps have more output than I need. Combine them with a Friedman vertical slant 2x12 and IMO it’s the perfect size/wattage for most current gigging guitarists.

      Agree, I'm extremely happy with my JJ Jr. Has all the power I need for any gig or studio.

    Friedmans are great, but man, some of the stuff that guy names his amps.. You just know Dave Friedman is that sleezy uncle that shows up drunk to the family gathering and can't stop cracking dirty jokes and hits on his nephew's girlfriend.

    • @adamscottv
      @adamscottv 3 года назад +2

      Brown Eye, Pink Taco... way to keep it classy, Dave. They do sound great though. I'm torn on the Runts and Shirleys.

    Why buy a Friedman instead of the real amp called Marshall that it copies?

    • @augustschmid3893
      @augustschmid3893 5 лет назад +1

      One reason would be volume. Friedmans have excellent master volumes, so you can get that cranked Marshall sound without having to kill your ears or having to use an attenuator, etc.

    • @tedmen1123
      @tedmen1123 5 лет назад +6

      They are much better sounding. A stock Friedman sounds like a fire breathing, roaring modified Marshall sound that everyone wants their Marshall to sound like. I have heard VERY few actual Marshalls that are not heavily modified that sound like a reg ole Friedman. For that style of tone Friedman's are the best!!

    • @tomulator
      @tomulator 5 лет назад +3

      So...can't afford a Friedman can ya?

    • @rangerdoc1029
      @rangerdoc1029 5 лет назад +6

      Because Friedman actually bothered to make the amps that Marshall fans have been begging them to make but they refuse to.

    • @JMPRocker
      @JMPRocker 4 года назад +1

      Ted Mencacci What sounds “better” to one’s ears will sound different to another’s. I own a Friedman and several Marshalls. Soon will be adding a Bogner to the stable. The Friedman is a killer amp. Love it. But I’d put my Mini Jubilee and 2204 up against it any day. Each amp is different but great. The Friedman is more refined and smoother . Mean sounding when you want. But nothing compares to that nasty Marshall growl that Marshall’s are known for.
