I’ve been waiting for one too, didn’t see one so I figured I’d do it myself lol I also posted a disassembly video that shows some more of the internal parts
First off thanks for being the one willing to test this rifle and put it on the tube! You got my sub for that! Second, out of all the rifles that have come out lately this is one that I'm most interested in! It has several things going for it and I'm keeping it in mind for my next rifle buy. Please keep us updated on how things go! If things work out AND they do come out with a 8.6 BO barrel for it that will definitely put this rifle at the top of my list of future buys! Again, thanks for the review!
Thank you for the support! As of right now, I’m hoping to do another update once I get around 500 rounds through it, hoping that it will be smoothed out by then, or will have updates if anything else major happens with it!
It's a cool idea if you're going to fully utilize the caliber exchange feature. I don't like how the design allows you to assemble it just a tad bit out of battery, seems like a major flaw for what this rifle is trying to be. Also, that puts a question mark on its return-to-zero capability, cuz it would really suck to re-zero the rifle completely every time you change it back.😦 If that UXR requires SRBS762(not flow, but pretty close) to run semi-well, then it defeats a major reason why anyone would go for such a system in the first place. I tried my SCAR 17s NRCH(1.40mm or 1.45mm if I recall) and 20s NRCH(factory) on Nomad-L(a very high backpressure can), and they not only didn't have any issue cycling, but the ejection didn't even go forward of 3 o'clock. I suspect FN did tune the newer productions to run a little smoother. The break-in period is kinda strange but ok... mostly where I saw that kind of stuff would be tightly fitted and/or comped pistols, or some self-loading shotguns. 14:29 that SCAR is still very overgassed with that can, I understand FN's warranty policy is stupid but you shouldn't run it like that, hopefully you were just running it for that short test since you already got SRBS762. I appreciate how you didn't step on the SCAR while reviewing something new, cuz that trend is really obnoxious. Still, after all those years, I don't see many BR options as light as the 17s while being as reliable and accurate across different ammo. SCARs aren't even remotely the most expensive in their league against LMT, KAC, and HK.😂
Down the line I’d like to test the return to zero, not to mention the accuracy with the UXR. I won’t say that it needs a low back pressure can at this point since I still need to try the Saker on the true suppressed position. It’s tough to tell through the glasses, but with the Saker on the 17 it’s pretty much perfectly tuned with the gas jet I have in there. Need to run it on the normal setting for it to cycle with the SRBS on it. I’m any case though I love my SCARs, both the 16 and the 17. The only issues I’ve ever had with my 17 were from using too restrictive of a gas jet
@@OddlyArmed Cool, didn't know there would be a part 2. For the SCAR I just saw the brass in front of you so I assumed it was at least forward of 3 o'clock. Guess it was just the camera angle. SRBS762 is also my new fav for semi-auto 30cals, it just works so well overall without the cons that come with the flow ti can. Would be interested to see if the UXR bore evacuation system has any practical effect, maybe run the full backpressure can(not the SRBS) on both to compare?
that’s the plan at least, hopefully around the 500ish rnd mark but .308 ain’t cheap so it may take a while. Definitely planning on getting a more solid opinion on how much of a difference the bore evacuator actually makes
I had the same problem with it not going in to battery. When I got to around 140 rounds the gun started running better. I got to around 440 rounds when I had a bad malfunction. The bolt got stuck to the rear of the receiver. I took it to my local gun shop and they had to disassemble the gun to get it unstuck. It seems the cam pin weared part of the rearend of the guide rails in the receiver and was getting caught to the rear. I was told that it looks like I was shooting the gun over gassed and it was throwing the bolt back hard. I let the guys at the gunshop test it and they said the bullet casings had bad bends on the rims from the extractor ripping them out. They also said the gun was dirty. Keep in mind i was also shot all the rounds suppressed. I have the same srbs 762 can as you. So i let the guys at the gunshop test it and the bolt got stuck to the rear again. now theyre sending it off to pws.
Thanks for the info on yours, that’s definitely not ideal and I’ll be keeping a close eye on the rails to see if I’m getting the same kind of wear marks there. Let me know how it works out with PWS fixing it.
I agree with the instruction manual not having enough info. I was messing around with the gas adjustment trying to switch it. I used a screw driver to move it around. The manual definitely leaves alot out.
I’d like to get some more rounds through it and potentially get a .308 JAKL at some point. Then do a comparison like I’m doing in my other vids with the SCAR 17, G3, FAL, and potentially some other battle rifles
Thanks for the review. There's bound to be some teething problems out of the box on a new design. I expect pws will deal with and fix them. 308 seems like a good choice for that rifle. Any idea where that extra pound came from? I'd consider it in 308, but not 556 because of the weight. And I'm hoping pws puts a folding charging handle on the brn 180.
My guess on the weight is beefing up certain components to hold up better with .308, I wouldn’t be surprised if they ran into durability issues in testing with the lighter design
@OddlyArmed that makes sense. Especially if they used some of that military 277 fury. Too bad they didn't make a light and heavy models. But that would probably increase manufacturing costs. This definitely simplifies manufacturing.
@@markreynolds6715 I think there are some merits to being able to have intermediate and full power cartridges in the same platform, but they are fairly limited!
@OddlyArmed oh for sure. The ar180 is one of the most widely copied firearm designs but I'm speaking specifically on the brn180 that pws also manufactures. The ejection port cover and brass deflector look like the same part they're using to make the gen 3 upper that was just released.
@@maker_greg yeah that actually makes a good amount of sense, if they can make several parts common across their products, that would probably save a ton of money overall
Ive been eyeballing this rifle for a month or two now, especially because its definitely on clearance sale at a few retailers. What appeals to me the most is the relatively low weight compared to almost anything in .308 besides a scar. However, in the little user experience info I can find on the UXR, I have yet to see a single "ran flawlessly no problems" review. Which is very concerning.
I think they definitely have some cool ideas integrated into the UXR, but yeah so far the experiences I’m having and others say they’ve had shows there’s work to be done
I’m a Pws fan but this looks like a turd. Then factor in the price. There should be no break in period for a gun. If so, they should break it in with their ammo before putting it on the shelf.
I think it has some promise but they have some work to do, agree that there’s stuff they should have ironed out before releasing it though, and at least said something official about a break in period if there is one
@ no I’m not saying options is bad I’m just saying it’s crazy because for the hate the SCAR gets people seem to flock to it as soon as it’s 1/4 of the price. I guess my qualm is about people thinking buying an expensive gun makes them Chris Kyle and when they see that isn’t the case that gun becomes “overpriced”
I wish they would have just came out with there ar15 ar10 system but with a bufferless design... this thing is ok but I feel like it's to much... just design a small frame size an a large frame size an make the barrel swap an bolt swap halfway easy.. it reminds me of what desert tech is doing an its a cluster f@c
That’s a fair opinion I think, and my experience with the MDR wasn’t great, although I would like to get a WLVRN at some point. I do think there is potential merit in the caliber exchanges for people who are legally limited on how many firearms they can own, or for people who travel and want one rifle that they can flex into different categories, but those are pretty limited markets
Finally a semi comprehensive video review on this thing

Oh cool a new review on a new gun from a new channel
It's kinda interesting. You can see certain design elements they shared with the gen 3 brn180.
The design of the gas piston spigot is very similar to the original AR-180, even if the gas system works a bit differently

Kind of the other way around since the UXR came out before the .308 JAKL 😂
PWS has been doing long stroke for a lonnnng time!
So a review will usually be how the gun comes from the factory not how you put it back together all fucked up
**** break in period = bad excuse for crappy design, manufacture & QC..... UGH!
You want tight tolerances well, this is tigh tolerances 😂
Yet another huge turd and waste of money you should never buy. Its an expensive to for the Gucci Gun LARPing Gamer Bois and thats it. Big thumbs down.
