In the autumn a minicab driver pulled out of a side turning into the front corner of my wife's Freelander. He hit it hard enough to bend the chassis rails and all the airbags went off. My wife was hurt so the police were called. The minicab driver lied and said that my wife was indicating left, but fortunately we got the number of the couple behind my wife, and they confirmed that this wasn't true. The police decided not to pursue the case (neither driving without due care, or perverting the course of justice) despite my wifes injuries and destroyed car. But go through a ford a bit quick and splash some water.......

It's this sort of situation where a dashcam is invaluable. Someone ran into me on a blind bend. He was travelling too fast and not paying attention. I managed to stop, he ran into me and ricocheted into the ditch. I had it all on dashcam. Despite this, and his insurance company having the footage, he still claimed he had stopped and I ran into him! People will lie through there back teeth to try protect their no-claims. They paid up! Moral of the the story, get a dashcam!

Probably careless driving, up to 5 grand in fines, 3 to 9 points and even a ban are possible. And yes they should be nicked, too fast and the vehicle can lift, losing control enough to hit another coming the other way head on. They also risk swamping someone else who is going through carefully destroying their car too, as one of the drivers nearly did.

I mean yes. Splashing random pedestrians by going trough puddles is illegal in most countries, but when the pedestrians ask for it in order to have fun, I think police can attend more serious business, or at most just supervise the action in case anything truly dangerous happens without interfering.

High Speed Pass to splash people (driving without consideration to road users , ((pedestrians ) ) )
Insurance or Tax , issues , ? the Ford attracts vans , and old ones there is a high chance someone will drive something poor

In short speeding or careless driving. In some cases clearly breaking the 30 mph speed limit. & In fewer cases not breaking the speed but still going through the ford too fast and kicking up too much water beyond what's strictly considered safe, competent and considerate driving. Basically if you go through fast enough that you kick up the water, strictly speaking you not going through it safely.
