If i was driving and came across this i wouldn't need anybody to warn me, i would see it with my own eyes and turn around. It's all their own faults if seeing the water isn't enough to make you not go for it then the big crowd gathered with cameras would surely make you think twice. Just can't believe the number of high value expensive cars that attempt this, i drive a fiesta that's nearly 20 years old and i try to avoid puddles let alone ploughing through something like this 😂 I honestly wonder how some people get so far in life, they can have all the qualifications and s**t like that but have zero common sense. Seen one video of a guy in a 21 plate brand new car and he conks out right in the middle of this, puts his window down laughing his head off and tells everyone he wrote his last car off in the same place 🤔 Like seriously you just can't make it up 😂

I have been through a number of flooded fords in different cars and survived them all because...... I know how car engines work. Two simple things, air in, exhaust out. Never drive fast into water, drive slowly with very high revs. Driving slowly stops water getting into the air filter box. High revs keeps the water blocking the exhaust. On a different note I waded through shallow rivers with my Range Rover adopting the same principle in the Scottish Highlands, never got stuck.

    • @-EC002-
      @-EC002- Год назад +43

@@tiedupsmurf The water floods into the air intake pipe and is sucked directly into the cylinders. You cannot compress a liquid so the piston can't move up, it's called hydro locking. When that happens the engine locks up solid but the car is still moving and the crankshaft still tries to turn but can't which is very likely to bend or break a connecting rod. Very expensive to repair, it doesn't always happen but some of those here were almost certainly damaged.

Not an exact science but i suppose there’s a chance you could take the air box off, remove the spark plugs or glow plugs and crank the engine over to clear the water. In some cases you would have got lucky. Then it’s oil changes etc... and back to normal with any luck. But just cranking the starter without doing that stuff first is simply destroying your engine. It’s incredible to watch but I guess if you know nothing about engines you just naturally try and re start it. If you knew about engines you wouldn’t have driven into the water in the first place...

Our village got flooded last week and although the handbook for my X3 says you can drive through 20” depth of water at no more than 3 miles an hour, what it doesn’t tell you is that this will put the transfer box for the x drive underwater with a vent pipe just 1.5” above. As I found out to my cost(6K) even at that speed and in less than 20” the water disturbance is enough for water to enter this vent tube and mix with the oil, completely wrecking the box. Design fault I think!!!

Proper way to go through floods is fairly high revs but moving at crawl speed. The high revs to blow out water in the tailpipe, and the crawl speed to avoid a water buildup at the grill, which causes water to enter the engine air intake, leading to water in the cylinders, and a sure way to destroy your engine.
One factor that leads to these fails is the use of automatic transmissions.
Higher revs will just increase the speed.
In a manual transmission, the driver can control the revs with the accelerator pedal and the speed with the clutch.

      bend rod
      damaged head
      Damaged valves ....
