Vaughn, I started watching this, and I saw Alan’s video, and then your face and heard the siren. I laughed so hard. I was thinking, Vaughn glitched out in real life.😂 Then my WiFi cut out, and I had to wait to watch the rest until an hour or so ago. I am so happy that fans get this unique opportunity. I was so sad that you cannot be there. Do you have someone going to the shop with like a cellphone camera to show you the merchandise in case you want to purchase something? If not is there someone in one of the groups that would do that for you? You of all people need a least one thing since are THE Ultimate fan boy. 😀 it is nice if Alan to share this, and the shop owner seems so cool. I wish I could just be there to hang out in the cool vintage shop atmosphere with fans of all music. Thanks for being on top of it as always Vaughn!

@@blueroses7935 Thank you, yes It is a small town with only 12,000 inhabitants. My mom has her apartment just a few meters away from where Alan filmed his video. This is a fairly large swimming area where there are often many people and in the evening it is a party place for young people:) Yes, there have been quite a few parties there when I was young. (Now I'm over 50 and I miss the 80s as much as you:) I've stood on my mother's terrace and scouted for Alan a few times hahah, but I haven't seen him. I had some great meets with Alan backstage over the years and also had lots of comms with his mum Kathleen, who was a lovely woman and always went out of her way to write to me and send me photos of Alan in the choir and band when he was at school. For me, Alan was very much an integral part of the band in so many ways and will always be much loved and sorely missed, in particular, for his musical/production excellence, but also his charisma.

I was always very curious about Alan’s family, because he never talked much about his parents. So it was interesting to read your comment that Alan’s mom was a lovely person. Thank you for sharing your experience!
For me it is simple enough: the real Depeche Mode was of 4 members: Dave, Martin, Alan and Fletch. No Alan - no Depeche Mode. Since his departure they have been making quite good music, but they are not Depeche Mode anymore.

He produced another artist in 2016 I think, then seemed to disappear. I have always thought he basically retired too early from Depeche Mode. A few years later digital downloads came along and then streaming soon after, which basically meant artists earned their real money from performing live, with tickets sales and all the merchandising revenue. The stuff he did after Depeche Mode was more of a hobby or labour of love to be honest, as great as it was. It sounds like he is selling off more of his stuff to earn some extra money, which is a shame, but that is the way the music industry is nowadays. Copying is rife and artists earn peanuts from streaming. Plus I believe he said something like, ' I can work on an album for six months in the studio, only for it to be downloaded for free the next day'. Like all fans, I wish he had returned to the band, even if it was for 80's specials, where they played only that era on the old Emulators, so new fans can experience the concerts I enjoyed so much.

According to quick searches on the internet, a 12 inch vinyl LP weighs 140 Grams, and 140grams of Gold is Worth $11,105.
A tad less than an arm or a leg, kidney, eternal soul or my first born son (although he would happily move into the record shop for free if he just got to play his guitar in peace)

Alan is selling (or has now sold) his big mansion house, with his reasoning being to downsize his life he said in a recent property promotion article in the Evening Standard online in April this year. I guess it's extended to his other possessions too... If he's digitised all his music to FLAC files then he's not losing anything in the virtual realm, just the physical one. He's quite right, you can't take it with you. Hopefully he's kept a few select ones back for himself.

Alan Wilder outside Martin Gore wings is nothing. Its was really enjoyable see him playing live with the band. Dave Gahan and Martin ate fucking monsters to this date. See them twice last tour, really amazing experience. Also, Memento Mori did grab me as the 80's and 90's. Though my favourite album stills ULTRA. What a perfect record song by song.
