Rest in Peace, Fletch. It was good, but sad, to see you again on this video. I went to this concert back in 2017 in Washington, DC. Fantastic performance.
A buddy of mine came up to Martin Gore one time he was djing in San Diego without knowing who he was until later just to complement his set and told me Martin was like the sweetest guy engaging in conversation just as if he wasn't the mind blowing rock star that he is.
I once met the former drummer of Siouxsie and the Banshees, Budgie, by accident in Berlin (where he lives). Hung out with him for 2 hours, a very sweet guy.
You see him in NYC? I heard they were working on a new album.. not sure if that's true but yeah, hopefully they leave politics out of it. So many celebs ruin their creative energy by pushing their opinions on it. JS
Lex Ham He's not musically inclined because he can't read sheet music and isn't trained? Music is an art form, it's malleable and entirely human. It's creative expression, so just because someone doesn't know how to read music notes doesn't mean it's impossible for them to make beautiful art. It must take a stroke of genius to create art in such a way that captivates millions of people.
Lex Ham Alright man it'd be a waste of my time debating you because as you said you'll stick by your opinion regardless of what I or anyone says. Thanks for calling us deluded it really helps get your point across. I doubt anyone will be holding Vince Clark at such high regards as Bach or any of the other composers you mentioned. In my opinion Gore is a brilliant songwriter, without him Depeche Mode wouldn't be where they are today. I really appreciate what he's done. Btw he's also played various instruments while touring with Depeche Mode and even provides vocals to their songs. The man is talented and you'll never take that away from him, regardless of what you think.
Lex Ham So you agree with me he's talented but then say that everything he does is so basic that even your children can do it. I'm sure you're aware that you're basically undermining Gore's contribution to the band and his music by stating things like "Gahan's singing is what sales" and the way he plays an instrument makes you cringe. You're almost implying that the real geniuses behind Depeche Modes music are the sound engineers and producers in the studio. I have no idea what their whole recording process is, but I'm sure it's comparable to all modern artists out there. They bring a demo, then they refine the sound and rework the composition in the studio. I've heard some of Depeche Modes demos written by Gore, demos that you can tell were probably recorded in his bedroom or wherever, but definitely not in a studio by sound engineers. I think humble pieces such as that truly showcase his creative qualities. As for Vince Clark, we both know he's never reached the heights that Depeche Mode has. Maybe a few hits here and there but definitely not Depeche Mode quality - but music is subjective. I can't believe you're implying that Depeche Mode wouldn't be where they are today without Vince Clark. They seem to have done extremely well without him; if they weren't great they wouldn't have been able to maintain their popularity and their solid music.
Seminal band of the eighties. Their originality and influence was profound and enduring. These guys, The Cure, Psychedelic Furs, Echo and the Bunnymen, and others totally rekindled my interest in music and I'm very grateful to all of them for that.
I just love these wise guys 🖤 they are amazing to last 37 years. And much more years to come. Depeche Mode is sound track of my life. It carried me through high and low.
Wow I love Depeche Mode. This just popped up on my list of videos so I was lucky to see it. As a kid I loved these guys. I don’t think people realise how great these guys are in the early 90’s they were one of the biggest bands in the world. I miss Alan but it’s great that the three originals are still going.
Essex to their core!!...remember Dave Gahan popping into the our price basildon record shop I worked in in 1990 at the height of their success. Violator no.1 album and there he was having a browse on his own in an empty shop!! Couldnt do that now...someone in the public eye like that would either insist the entire shopping centre be closed while surrounded with bodyguards or just get a gofer to get what they wanted.
Music: Yes it makes sense and lights up the whole brain and I thank you all the artists of Depeche mode for being who you are in this journey and glad we incarnated in a time I could hear and see you. 💓
Man , i love depeche mode , saw them live last year 2023 .I will keep on buying their records and see them live as long as i`m alive. RIP Fletch and long live dave n martin.
I like them so much 'People Are People' is covered in my LIVE show because it gets one excited about the 80's. Groovy baby yeah! Go for it 'Hurried Fashion' AKA Depeche mode 🤩
In the nineties I got hooked on what was called Rock in espanol there's a band called celta's cortos. And that album cover says when times of political unrest. The arts come alive.
Kort Kramer Andy and Martin are shocking bad at these type of interviews , Dave over does it to make up . They are better at music journalist interviews in general
I'm just so glad we have artists like this (who are notoriously guided by emotion) to tell us how we should all be behaving politically. Seriously, I don't care what side of the political spectrum you're on. People listen to you for your music. We don't give a crap how you vote. Please don't share it.
The clip with Dave setting up chairs around UK dressed as a King need a a reboot, obviously. Remixes worthwhile. Maybe Trent Reznor,Moby, Beck can help remixes. That would be amazing. But hey Ricky might star inthe clip too....stay strong UK. Whole World is in a funk, but you punch above yr weight and you got us through covid with vaccines and movies/tv/music/books. The Queen's messages. We will get through this.
This is the only time I have seen a look in the eyes of Ricky Gervais that suggest he clearly CANNOT BELIEVE what is happening, how he got there and who he is on stage with!! I see him a bit like Del-Boy from Only Fools and Horses in this.... "Play it cool Trigger... play it cool"! 🏆

Martin Gore makes me think of Howdy Doody☺ David Gahan and me have the very same Birthdays including the year. But I'm not a Bowie fan though I like a lot of his work I am 100% Beatles and British Invasion of the 60's super fan.
Shame how they just erase Alan Wilder from their history. They may have been big in the 80s, but he helped them become massive worldwide and carried them when Dave Gahan was killing himself with drugs, Martin Gore was a drunk and Andy Fletcher had a nervous breakdown. No wonder he left.
They are usually a little more open about Alan Wilder than they are here, especially if asked directly. That said, I think its hard to expect them to bring up Wilder at every opportunity as he's been out for over 14 years. Plus, he's been a bit of a recluse recently. Which sucks because his mixes and his Recoil output are wonderful.
Ironically during the press pack for S/FD they touted the importance of all the members and the cohesiveness that made them A band. They lost their sparkle when he left.
@@chrismullins8061 I understand why you said 14 years, because that's what it feels like to me - but it's actually been 24 years. I must be getting old.

The interviewer is a master of his job,he does not interrupt and asks interesting questions.
Skvalan is clueless and high on himself...... Don't know shite about his guests...... He's now off the screen
Hahaha. A lot of people in scandinavia that disagree with that. He's quite infamous over. But imho he does get a little too much critisism.
