I just try to stay healthy but my acne doesn't seem to be influenced much on diet. I just used a exfoliant and a serum(+moisturizing), that gradually got rid of my type of acne(mostly comedonal).
I am vegan , i have dry skin , i dont touch my face only after washing my hands , i drink alot of water and i still have acne . Great and honest video thanks !
vitamin d3 is super important for skin health. and you need cholesterol in order to receive it when ur in the sunlight, which means you need to eat meat. Also vitamin A is not in a vegan diet.
@Joshua Miguel De Guzman 65% of all people are lactose intolerant, which can cause acne. Dairy also contains female hormones which can cause hormonal acne. It's true that not everyone gets acne from dairy but there definitely are people who do
I cut milk years ago, but have cheese once every few months because it’s difficult to avoid. EVERY TIME, I break out with cystic acne. EVERY SINGLE TIME.
Same. I also am thinking eggs cause acne for me. I try to hit my protein goals without supps and eggs are relatively cheap and delicious but as I eat more I am noticing red cheeks and tiny pimples. Gonna experiment and cut them out for a week to see the results.
I've dealt with severe acne in my early twenties. I dealt with doctors and dermatologists. I've also tried every acne skin care regiment known to man. Everytime, I visited my Dermatologist, he's told me that diet never leads to acne and continued to provide me with antibiotics. I got tired of taking medicine so I decided to do some research. I found that acne is caused by one of the 3 factors: dairy, glutten or sugar. I decided to cut one of the three for a month. When I cut dairy and glutten, my acne didn't subside. It wasn't until I cut sugar for a month that I realized that it was sugar that caused acne for me. I even took this study further and figured out the tipping point of how much sugar I can eat before I get acne. For me, it was 20 grams a day for a week. Anything more than that will 100% spike up my acne the following week. So, I completely disagree with "science" against acne. The pharmaceutical industry just need to profit from everyone and it's a shame.
For those who struggle with acne, do yourself a favour and don't listen to this video. Change your diet, remove sugar, dairy or glutten in your diet. I have 100% clear skin now. No thanks to people who say acne isn't caused by your diet.
@@BrockMcGoff95% of the research on acne is testing either antibiotics, accutane, or topical medicines to treat acne. It’s very clear as to why we haven’t figured out what causes it; the funding isn’t there to find the root cause, it’s simply to treat the symptom.
I love the honesty in this video. However I still feel obliged to say that knowing about pretty much each one of these "myths" (except for the oily skin part) helped clear my acne. But I gotta admit, it's not that just ONE thing cleared me up. I stopped touching my face, started cleaning both my phone and my sheets regularly, cut completely dairy and sugar, tried to get more sleep. The crazy thing is that even if I have a good/consistent acne skincare routine and I never miss on the "topical" approach, the moment I forget about one of the good habits above for more than one week I immediately have a bad breakout. So for you people with problematic skin like mine out there, if you feel like trying to follow one of these myths (alongside good skincare, always!), just do it. Cutting on dairy (and sugar) is not that big of a deal, cleaning sheets more is nothing but positive and getting enough sleep is not gonna do you any harm. If it doesn't work, that's ok. We're all different.
Brock, I am a scientist, and I agree with you. Dealing with acne should be based on scientific data, in consultation with a dermatologist. Excellent video!
Light.Bright919 it doesnt u just have a reaction to it and it causes acne to you i always had acne still have a little bit but it was never due to food or whatever its just genetics and the only thing that cures it is accutane
It May happen to some people but for me dairy doesn’t affect me at all, I can drink 2 whole cups of milk and nothing will happen but when I eat a lot of greasy foods that when I breakout
@@juanparra9178 yeah you can't eat and drink both Milk and fast food at the same day or time. It will cause acne. Either u drink milk and don't eat fast food. Or you eat fast food and don't drink milk. Well that's the formula am using since my 20s. It's going perfect 😁
Thank you! No one addresses the fact that acne is a very under researched topic. We don’t know why it happens and what factors contribute to it with foolproof certainty. I appreciate the educational effort, because some of these myths are so irrationally pervasive.

You forgot that it has been proven that acne can be a symptom of a food intolerance. About 65% of the world population is lactose intolerant and a lot of people don't know they are, so eliminating dairy could definitely work for quite a lot of people. There's also been some research about the estrogen in dairy that suggest it can have an influence on hormonal acne, but there hasn't been a conclusion yet.
Yes exactly so true, I have 4 different types of food intolerances that include casein protein in milk, Bananas, eggs, gluten and pork and the dairy casein protein in milk made me get acne and I needed to eliminate it from my diet and my acne cleared up completely.
so, i used to do dairy free (for about 2 years) but it never cleared my skin AS MUCH as full fat dairy did! I switched back to dairy recently, but I only drink full fat milk and full fat greek yogurt. I try to have some every day, and my skin has been clearer than ever... From what I read, it has to do with the vitamin A you're getting from the natural fat in the dairy, and that helps fight off the casein and whey that triggers acne. I'm not a dermatologist or a food scientist... and after watching your video, who knows if thats the reason my skin likes full fat dairy so much. But everyone's different! I'm just glad I found what works for me and I stopped depriving myself of delicious dairy!
FtOrReEeSsT how can you say MOST people? I agree not everyone, but most people would never think to try this. I posted this comment for people to consider in case it might work for them. Never know until you try. A lot of the work behind clearing up acne is guessing and checking.
@@evessketchbook Statistically this won't work for most people because 65% of the human population is lactose intolerant. Acne is a symptom you can get from intolerance
While I appreciate what your saying. A study published a year ago (systematic review/meta-analysis) in the journal Nutrients showed that milk intake was associated with a higher odds ratio of acne compared to those with no milk intake. This review considered the many studies on acne, critiqued them thoroughly, acknowledged their methodological flaws, and still came to this conclusion. Milk is a rich source of the hormone IGF-1, when eaten, milk also promotes IGF-1 release. IGF-1 plays a key role in promoting acne, via its promotion of an increase in cell growth. Excess skin cells can cause blockages where the hair follicle resides, a build up of sebum occurs, resulting in acne. P.S. I have a video on this.

I know whey protein has milk/dairy but what about whey protien isolate?
@@ki11aqueen5 There are hundreds of other types of milk that are non dairy. I even found some that actually taste better than dairy when I found out I was lactose intolerant. Can still enjoy cereal and it's better and healthier
I know for a fact from many years of experience, that my cystic acne is triggered by chocolate. It's too much to be a coincidence. Some people are more sensitive to some foods than others.
I feel like the connection of dairy and acne is the fact that cows generally have a shit ton of growth hormones, which transfers into milk, these hormones alter ur hormones and into making kore sebum, it’s not the actual milk itself but the hormones so mainly I think it depends where u get ur products from rather than anything else
I'm a woman who watches your channel because I wish women's fashion worked like men's! Also I loved this video because you actually focused on science, reading primary sources, etc. As an academic and now academic librarian, yes. We need more RUclipsrs not dumbing down issues.
I am 54 years old and have struggled with facial acne since high school. I saw a couple dermatologists in my youth and tried Erythromycin and then Accutane with marginal results. In addition, a variety of topical treatments and skin care regimens have been tried, again with marginal results. Over the years, I noticed a definite link between diet and acne. It was not until I read "It Starts with Food" by Dallas and Melissa Hartwig, and "The Plant Paradox" by Steven Gundry that I discovered there are foods that are known to cause chronic systemic inflammation in the body. I eliminated these foods from my diet and the acne is gone (along with a few other issues). From experience with my family, the impact these foods have on the body can differ from person to person and can manifest as different ailments.
ohh thanks for the book recommendations.. This might seem out of nowhere but- do you also happen to have aches and pains associated with this chronic systemic inflammation? I've done a quick skim through general articles and I realized that some nerve or joint aches/pains have some connections to inflammation or just plain injury. When you fixed your diet, did any other usual aches/pains (if any) go away? How did you know that it was due to chronic systemic inflammation and if you had it? What kind of diet did you have before discovering those books? Lol this suddenly turned into an interview. 😅 Haha sorry if I ask too many questions.. I hope you don't mind, but these kinda stuff make me curious lol. I'm young but I know some seniors within our family/relative circle so I want to alleviate some of their aches/pains... even though they don't believe me because some of them are nurses! They think some diseases are genetic and not a result of certain diets...
There are lots of myth BUT there are ways to prevent acne: 1. DO NOT touch your face or your acne. 2. DO NOT pop, let it dry out, let it go all their cycle. 3. Clean your face twice a day using face cleanser, NOT srub. 4. USE moisturizer, dry skin does cause acne. 5. DO NOT let your hair get over your forehead especially if you have acne on forehead. Those are the basic. Don't watch any10 mins video just to get these points, read it.
Very Interesting video. For me it actually worked changing my diet, mostly the amount of sugar i consume. Instead of sugary drinks, i switched to water and tea exclusively and the food, especially candy, i reduced to a minimum. I'm a sweet tooth though, so when i eat too much candy it shows in my face, but i still feel confident since i can control it somehow. But as you said it really depends on the person. The prescription medicine my doctors gave me for example never worked for me, even though they have sworn on it.
No such thing as a sweet tooth u just continue to eat sugar so your body craves it when u go without for a certain amount of time there is no one who just craves sugar unless you’ve been giving into it constantly
I literally didnt have dairy for 3 weeks and my skin cleared up. then I decided to have one small bowl of cereal and got 5 new pimples the next morning
this video make people with acne be more confident and not feel stupid to take care of their skin. i always feel shy when my friends that have clear skin, they keep said to me to drink more water n get my skin care right send me a lot of video to take care of my skin. they don't even know that they have hurt my feelings. don't they know i have try my best to take care of my face

It depends upon people to people, age group, diets and personal habits how you often get acnes. Causes: Genetics, food culture and environment. Solution: Exercise and sweat always, cut dairy-oily foods-alcohol if possible until acnes doesn't go, sleep early(10 pm-6 am), try thinking less on pimple (ignore), lower stress & anger, lower eating habits during night time, for some case avoid direct sunlight until pimples go, etc. I am not vegan but vegetarian, it worked for me. Taking medicine and consulting doctors did help me, as i had salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide creams and antibiotics. But it only controlled for some years, the roots of acnes skin were still there. Notice: wash face only with water 2-3 times a day, drinking water 2 litres mostly always does boost immune, try to have weight according to biometric calculation. Modern treatment, laser does help but its costly, please also consult your doctor too. But the basic is controlling and stay with solution i suggest above If it does helped you please comment Thank you
The only "ingredient" that is really proven to cause acne would be sugar. Salt consumption has been criticized to our detriment, since our bodies require salt and no proven studies validate that consuming large amounts of salt cause acne (if one drinks enough water). Now that that is out of the way, we can get to sugar; sugar is shown to excite oil production of the skin and increase cell turnover, which in turn leads to clogged pores and acne lesions. Added sugars are the culprit here, and you can say that carbs are the "covert poisons", but our bodies have gotten used to us consuming grains so the negative effects of carbs are meager. Added sugars are a new addition in the modern human diet, since it only gained popularity over the last 500 years, and even in the 1800s was reserved for the rich. Primitive man only got to consume sugars or fructose when he stumbled upon a fruit tree, and then again only certain fruits have very high concentrations of sugars (like dates), therefore primeval mankind didn't have the opportunity to overload their system with added sugars. Basically what you're looking for is hormone-free, low-sugar, low lactose( a sugar found in milk) products, and chances are you can consume goat or sheep cheeses, since they contain a dairy with a different make-up, and with more vitamin a (really consider upping you intake of Vitamin A, just don't overdo it). Vitamin A can be found in animal livers (cod, chicken, etc) and in sweet potatoes. Happy eating!
I stopped eating dairy to have clear skin and wounded up having vitamin D deficiency and a numb leg. Now I am supplementing myself on prescription vitamin d and calcium from dairy. And my skin is still clear. :-/
The answer for vitamin D is the sun, from which you will get miles more than from any diet. As for calcium, you do not nearly as much as the RDA leads you to believe. You can watch Jason Fung's lecture about calcium supplements to learn about that topic
Milk caused my acne. I stopped consuming it for a week and all of my cyst reduced tremendously. I had horrible cystic acne all over my face, neck, chest and back. Quitting milk and anything with milk in it is has been the only thing that cleared up my skin. 4 years on antibiotics and horrible topical creams and it was all milk… if I eat a milk chocolate bar or ice cream I’ll get one or two on my face.
Loving the depth you went into in this video despite it being about a list. No problem with with anything more long-form if it means you can get all your points across more meaningfully, maybe you can explore this format further (yes I know this isn't actually much longer than most of your videos but tbh it felt that way).
It May happen to some people but for me dairy doesn’t affect me at all, I can drink 2 whole cups of milk and nothing will happen but when I eat a lot of greasy foods that when I breakout
Yes same here i am very sensitive to the protein casein in milk as well along with gluten eggs bananas and pork and it gave me so many different symptoms including acne and I don't eat dairy anymore and no more acne.
I made the experiment on myself I have had acne my entire life, tried dermatologist who prescribed all types of products and nothing helped. Later I tried with birth control and it cleared it considerably, however it was only when I tried a low carb diet, to control my hormones when my skin really cleared 100% no more acne anywhere my body, once I dropped that diet it came back. So acne is not something you can cure with creams, it is your body screaming for help it is internal not external. If your dermatologist doesn't mention anything about the diet don't even waste your time and money there
Thanks for this. Hugely appreciate your understanding and explanation of the scientific method and objectivity. It also shows that you care about your viewers/readers. Sir, you’re a gentleman and a scholar.
Certain foods do cause "inflammation" which causes acne for certain people. People get acne for different reasons overall, I've used Accutane and it did not work for me because I figured out, more importantly, it was the "food" I ate that caused my acne. I've been eating food my entire life that I was intolerant to such as bread, yeast, & milk and these are ingredients that are heavily in the western diet. Overall it caused me to have multiple problems such as "leaky gut, over-growth of candida, & poor kidney function." When I stopped eating all these foods, including processed, & healed all of those problems from inside my body; it dramatically reduced my acne but I still have acne prone skin so I still need to cleanse daily. For a lot of people the western diet, in general, is causing people their acne, for example, if you look at 3rd world countries they do not have such acne problems like the Americans or compare to our ancestors that didn't eat the western diet. BUT like I said earlier, people get acne for different reasons and FOOD is one of them! I've done everything the dermatologists prescribed me/gave me and my acne had no hope of clearing up & in the end they said they couldn't do anything more for me. As you should know, you don't need scientific evidence for everything for proof of correlation. If you believe so much that diet doesn't cause acne, you should be easily able to accept a bet right? The bet is $10,000. It'll be me drinking dairy milk, of course, if I don't get acne then you win but if I do get acne specifically under my jawline then I win. You see, I even know where my acne will appear. If you appear to decline in some way of trying to argue with me, consider this your loss in the "diet & acne" issue.
Truth! Money runs the world. Usually the people who say there is no food to acne connection are also promoting acne products to sell all for the money.
For six weeks straight I went straight on a green diet. Completely water, spinach, tomato carrot, etc. one apple once in a while, but nothing more. After six weeks all my acne went away and so did my other ailments however my eczema on the face the red part, patches did not. I still was a little red in the face but the acne completely stopped. Something is causing it, and I don’t think your body just produces it on its own I think something has to endorse it and the only thing I could think of is what we breathing, and take in through the nose and mouth or get exposed to on the skin.
If excess cells cause acne, wash your face gently that way your not breaking your healthy cells causing more dead cells, and this is just a thought, maybe wash your face with milk for a while until it can't effect your face anymore because you become immune. Sounds counterintuitive however so is eating local honey to help your allergies
Hi Brock, great video! I love that you went the hard way and did your research properly. I actually suffered from acne through my teenage years up into my mid 20's. I used prescription topical treatments (Differin, Benzoyl peroxide), did an antibiotic treatment (which helped temporarily). But in the end what did it for me was an isotretinoin (a.k.a. accutane) treatment (a rather strong retinoid with possible side effects). I feel so much better now that my acne has mostly gone away. I recommend everyone who has suffered from acne for a longer period of time to consult a dermatologist. It may be pricey but it is worth it. Sure you can always try to adjust your diet and whatever, but if you want results rather quickly, the dermatologist is where you should go.
Over 10 years and through various diets I can confirm that, *in my case*, soda gives me acne. Every. Single. Time. I can go a month without any breakout, chug that godly Mountain Dew or Orange Crush and look like an ogre a couple days later. What worked best for me was changing pillowcases every other day, finding the proper face wash product and working out. The thing about hands in your face is that, while it doesn't directly cause acne, it can lead to acne breakouts among other things if you have skin issues
Diet and acne do go together but not for everyone. Those who are allergic to some foods can have all kinds of skin conditions including acne. An allergy symptom isn't only hives or symptoms you can see, it can also cause internal symptoms. acne, eczema stomach problems, lose stools etc if your getting acne and have seen a link to the food you eat then it's likely your actually allergic to that food. Or can't tolerate too much. Oily fried foods can contribute to acne while healthy veg can reduce the symptoms which is a fact so you should do what you think is right for your body. Dairy causes acne eczema and bad stomach for me as does too much junk food
Just because you linked sources does not mean the points you have made are 100% correct. I can just as easy link other sources proving you wrong that doesn’t mean I am 100% correct either. Acne causes vary from person to person. I went on Accutane because my oil glands were going crazy **oily skin** unless you have an MD and are a License Dermatologist your credibility is minimal. My advice to everybody that sees this is to book an appointment with the license dermatologist and get to the root of the causation of your acne. Accutane has been proven to work 100% of the time and that’s a fact. Side effects may be harsh but for many they are worth it.
It's weird for me, when I go to college my skin and hair are altogether better, which is a located in planis and is pretty polluted, but when i return home I get serious breakouts and tremendous hair fall even though I live in a very less polluted city with even less population and ofcourse in the mountains 😶 i have also seen quite a few doctors, my acne come and disappear then make a return again after months 😃
If you think of acne like a stomach ache: I can say spicy food caused my stomach ache. But that doesn’t mean every stomach ache is caused by spicy food, you may be lactose intolerant ect.
My acne seem to go away but it keeps coming back at the same spot. It's always on my left forehead and I cant even grunge up my hair confidently cause of the horrible red spots.
Brock, I commend you being honest that scientifically it is not well understood what causes acne. One thing I would mention about the touching your face myth is that it's not just dirt that we're getting on our face. Our bodies are covered in microbes, particularly our hands, which we could inadvertently innoculate our faces with. For example, when you pop a zit, you're effectively innoculating your skin with bacteria, because you are creating an opening in your skin, allowing microbes on your face and hands to get in. That's why you notice redness in that area several hours later. Overall, great video and thanks for making people aware of the science out there.
Another excellent video. You're great man. If diet had something to do with acne, then age would not be a factor. I've dealt with acne, and have tried everything ... including altering my diet. Other than the topical medicated products, nothing really works. Completely agree with your thoughts on the subject.
I lived with parents till i'm 24 and always had whole foods with them , the moment i moved out and started eating junk and lots of suggary drinks, i started to get acne. I've never had acne in my life and my skin is dry but now i have pimples all over my face cz my diet changed in the past 4 months.
yea, its sad how some media outlets are dishonest and just want to create clickbait headlines! not just when it comes to acne, just in general its a very bad thing and causes a lot of trouble. i hope this gets regulated one day. anyway so what helped me was minocycline (antibiotic pills), i heard that something called isotretinion helps a lot, too but i also heard it could cause balding? im not sure if thats true tho.
Brilliant video Brock! I wish other youtubers would take a leaf from your book and stop pandering to these so called studies. Even the so called heavy weights of Men's style just casually quote often, "According to a study". Love your channel the most, keep up the good work!
For a while I was thinking to myself that milk or dairy causes my acne, and then I realised that actually I barely even consume either. The only type of dairy I consume is cheese and that’s literally it, might go back to whey protein and milk to see if there’s any differentiation
I'd still recommend people stop drinking dairy. It's just not good for people and it does mess with hormones. Not only that but 70% of the population is lactose intolerant, so dairy just isn't a good thing to consume.
"70% of the population is lactose intolerant, so dairy just isn't a good thing to consume." That is not how logic work at all! Also, please do proper research.
R Q I'm not saying it doesn't affect me. Lol. Reread my message. I'm asking about what the hormonal changes are so I know what I'm doing to myself drinking a lot of milk.
Jack Frampton bc dairy has mammalian hormones and btw cows have to be pregnant to produce milk, so obviously when they're pregnant they have a lot high estrogen than normal and they secrete all that estrogen and testosterone into the milk. If you intake hormones, especially mammalian hormones, it will affect your own hormones. You may not see it affect your hormones but if you get your hormone levels tested after consuming dairy everyday for two weeks, then get them tested after not consuming any for two weeks, you will see a difference. The difference may not be that big (then again it might be) but messing with your hormones is never a good thing.
Ramza Beoulves actually it does and I've done plenty of research. If 70% of the population is lactose intolerant, that means 70% of the population shouldn't consume dairy, that means there's a very good chance that includes you. And if 70% of the population is lactose intolerant, that tells me that dairy isn't a food that people should be consuming. If it were, the intolerance levels would be much lower.
I find that for me personally, I see a huge correlation to my dairy consumption and my acne. I think its a combination of eating poorly and unregulated hormones.
Great video Brock for those who suffer from this. I get the occasional random single spot, but nothing really since I was a young teenager, guess I'm a lucky one in this regard!
I stopped Dairy first, thinking Dairy was the only culprit of my horrible cystic acne. But I would keep getting pimples/acne every so often. Then I started to stay away from sugar, and now, I can have more Diary than usual, and if I get a pimple, it is so small, it is unnoticeable. So now, I try to limit Dairy and Sugar, and my acne is pretty much gone.
Pls help me, my family has no history of having a pimple, my parents down to my siblings doesn't have pimples. Many says that it was about my genes? Or adolescence? I really don't know what to do. I even drink a lots of water but my pimples are still here. Maybe you have some idea? Pls share it to me. I don't like using lots of products because it can maybe make the situation worst. Thanks for the answers🥺😊
Im a 30 year old male, i used to have perfectly clear and elastic skin as a teenager but have slowly started to develop some type of acne. Beginning to think it might be dairy, amongst other things. It would also be useful to note that acne isn't caused by one thing. There's different types of bacteria that are affected by various treatments. In some cases all you need is an antibiotic ointment, in others, that does nothing and may actually be detrimental. Some are alcohol resistant, some are destroyed by alcohol, etc. Your best bet is always going to be a professional.
My face was clear nearly 3 years and than I have done fraxel lasser treatmant and that thing has totally destroyed my skin. But dermatologist don't want to accept the truth. It was boh stress for my skin. My hormones are ok. And I am asking what can help?
Dairy on its own isn’t meant to be consumed by humans in the first place. Our digestive systems can’t digest the fats and acids properly (which is why many feel bloating, heart burn, migraines, and constipation or diarrhea). It’s just like how we aren’t built to digest raw meats; the enzymes are inadequate at breaking down the molecules within raw (meats).
No dairy products do cause acne . Because i stopped eatting dairy for 2 months and all the break out stopped and i tried eating dairy again and i got dairy so now im dairy-free again happy with the result

From my experience holding up the cellphone to your face can cause breakout especially when you are on a phone call. The phone tends to rise in temperature and causes irritation, for my face causes bumps.it all depends on the person.Just use process of elimination.
The problem with the dairy studies may be their sampling. If we do a study where we only take people who've anecdotally claimed that dairy causes their acne, maybe we can find some kind of correlation.
dairy isn't the root cause of acne. acne is caused by hormones, and the hormones in cow's milk may interfere with those in your body and make your acne worse, but the root cause is a hormonal imbalance in the body.
There’s no debate that dairy/sugar cause acne in at least myself and I’m sure many other people. Ice cream 100% is terrible for me. It takes about 2-3 days of eating only meat and vegetables to clear my skin. Trust me try it if you really want to help . Nothing to lose.
Do you have any specific advice for a guy who doesn't have a huge problem with acne on the face (my skincare routine is taking care of that, slowly but surely), but has a huge problem with body acne. I got pimples and scars all over my back shoulders, and arms. THAT has been debilitating and makes me not want to take my shirt off.
Hey! Here from 2022 and I think this is the year to redo this episode. There have been a lot of studies in three years and I think it'd be a great video. Also, with a basic understanding of human biology, it's very hard to see how diet does not effect skin.
Media is evil. What I'm gonna take from this is keep to what makes you feel good. Like I will drink water when I feel dehydrated, I won't drink too much pop because I feel groggy afterwards but it's alright if I have one coke. Eating bunch of burgers won't make ya feel good but I love burgers so I'll eat them to the point where I enjoy them and stop then I might go eat a homecook meal cause damn they good. Also have a good skincare routine with good products.
It’s weird how there’s always a polarization with “Science”. It’s nothing less than a branch of philosophy. It gives reason but nothing’s ever absolute.
I know this is incredibly discouraged when it comes to skin care, but what works best for my face is regular bar soap. Throughout my teens, I struggled heavily with controlling my acne, in which I tried using a bunch of different over-the-counter face washes after reading reviews, doing online research, etc, as I never had the money to afford going to a dermatologist (hell, didn't even have health insurance growing up). However, the second I started using bar soap, I had nearly instantaneous results. I've been using it for almost a decade and very little of that has been spent worrying about what my face looks like, or needing money to afford it, which has been quite dandy.
I literally don’t know what to eat anymore

Just the fact that there is so much speculation and conflicting research gives me acne. Stressing about acne gives me acne
Great and honest video thanks !

even vegans get acne, from bread and sugar and pasta.
vitamin d3 is super important for skin health. and you need cholesterol in order to receive it when ur in the sunlight, which means you need to eat meat. Also vitamin A is not in a vegan diet.

I cut milk years ago, but have cheese once every few months because it’s difficult to avoid. EVERY TIME, I break out with cystic acne. EVERY SINGLE TIME.
Julia Asnadi Yes! I am coming to grips with the horrifying reality that I cannot consume cheese at all! Ever!
How about yogurt?
Milk is good for u tho
Nope everytime I drink milk or eat ice cream I’ll break out but not with yogurt or cheese look it up there’s actually research on this as to why
This is clearly true for you. Bravo for figuring it out. It’s also 100% anecdotal, so it doesn’t make sense to assume this will work for anyone else.
When you say cutting sugar you mean refined sugar? Like chocolate, or fruits?
Thanks
@@BrockMcGoff There is some scientific research into the influence of high glycemic diet on acne, so it's not entirely anecdotal.

Everybody's saying stop dairy stop dairy. But I havent been eating dairy for years and my acne is the same💀💀

so, i used to do dairy free (for about 2 years) but it never cleared my skin AS MUCH as full fat dairy did!
Good for you. But this will NOT work for most people.
FtOrReEeSsT how can you say MOST people? I agree not everyone, but most people would never think to try this. I posted this comment for people to consider in case it might work for them. Never know until you try. A lot of the work behind clearing up acne is guessing and checking.
So basically you could get vitamin A from other sources and quit dairy and have amazing skin
@@evessketchbook Statistically this won't work for most people because 65% of the human population is lactose intolerant. Acne is a symptom you can get from intolerance
so basically, vitamin A. So essentially, just eat carrots
AdventurPreneur whey stimulates elevations in insulin which also leads to acne

Try vitamin b5
ohh thanks for the book recommendations..
There are lots of myth BUT there are ways to prevent acne:
Don't watch any10 mins video just to get these points, read it.
plot twist it's just genetics.

Dairy contributes to acne in some people in others it helps to grow things like tumors
But the basic is controlling and stay with solution i suggest above
If it does helped you please comment
Thank you
The amount of sugar that I consume spikes my acne. I eat a snickers bar, it'll appear alright. It's definitely the cause for me.
Finally one more man in the enlightening minority of RUclipsrs who uses honest, science-backed research to bolster their advice. Thanks again.
I stopped eating dairy to have clear skin and wounded up having vitamin D deficiency and a numb leg.
Now I am supplementing myself on prescription vitamin d and calcium from dairy. And my skin is still clear.

Jas Hobbs i tried but i can not help but eat a little everyday. i’m only 11 with acne and i just want to eat whatever i want
Why dont you try to eat more food that contains calcium? I am lactose intolerant and my calcium is higher than when I still consumed dairy.
The answer for vitamin D is the sun, from which you will get miles more than from any diet. As for calcium, you do not nearly as much as the RDA leads you to believe. You can watch Jason Fung's lecture about calcium supplements to learn about that topic
There were 2 RUclipsrs who ate and drank foods that guarantee acne for a whole week. One guy got pimples while the other didn't

Scientific conclusions are irrelevant when there are conflicting anecdotes.
Sugar too, at least for me, I cut out my sugar intake considerably and most part of my breakouts went away 🙏
Food intolerances affect my skin. Gluten, dairy, yeast, corn. A gut issue we can say.

I appreciate how well you organised your researched links with the timelines.
Touch my face DOES cause acne.
Drink dairy products DOES cause acne.
Lack of drinking water dehydrated my skin DOES cause acne
Nice to see the channel growing
Sure you can always try to adjust your diet and whatever, but if you want results rather quickly, the dermatologist is where you should go.
how long it took to cure ur acne? and what exactly you used?
I did istotretinon twice… didnt work
Glad it worked for you
Over 10 years and through various diets I can confirm that, *in my case*, soda gives me acne. Every. Single.
Touching your face doesn't cause acne but pressing your skin for long time does.
I don’t know who to believe anymore😫
I just want clear skin

Brock aka the modest man has the best looking face
Great video Brock for those who suffer from this. I get the occasional random single spot, but nothing really since I was a young teenager, guess I'm a lucky one in this regard!
Stress and post-trauma are the main causes for me

Where are the timestamps you speak of?
lol so true
In the description...
in the description he literally said it....
Dairy always makes my face more oily and drinking plenty of water keeps y oiliness in check.
Who is veryyy tensed from pimples😫😫😫😫
Im a 30 year old male, i used to have perfectly clear and elastic skin as a teenager but have slowly started to develop some type of acne. Beginning to think it might be dairy, amongst other things. But when i was 17/18 working out alot i would drink 4-6 pints of whole milk a day and never had issues. Is this something that can be developed
I gotta disagree with drink water doesn’t help with acne I started to drink 6-8 bottle of water every day and it has helped me a lot
I've cut of some food, I've used different products including benzac proxode which I'm still using now but still hv acne. Wat I have realized is that my skin becums clear only in the winter, when summer comes the struggle continues. I'm 26 acne has bee an issue since puberty
I seriously love dairy so much and have always had acne. I feel like it is definitely the culprit but I keep getting so many conflicting views and it's stressing me out. If I cut it out of my diet and it doesn't fix things I'll be so angry :(
@@JoshGoingRAW I've cut dairy out of my diet I break out weekly. Haven't had dairy in a year. Derm has me on aczone for my acne. It seems a little better. Maybe some people have a dairy allergy but for me I haven't seen a difference. That being said I just had cheese sandwich. I'm tired of depriving myself of things.
@@hunterjwwej5878 well I'm happy and sad to hear that it hasn't had an effect on you. I went no dairy a few days ago and skin looked better but could be due to other things, then yesterday Sonic had $1 mozzarella sticks so I definitely went on dairy overload lol. Waiting to see how my skin reacts to that.
Hey modest man. Just got into your videos today. I'd say I'm quite stylish .. well, I keep myself simple and presentable and my clothes fit well. However, I am moving to Singapore in a few months .. the weather will be drastically different from the UK and so my whole wardrobe will have to change ... As in the UK you can almost keep the same style throughout the year, plus or minus a coat. Singapore the weather will be 35C+ everyday. Trousers and long sleeves are basically a no go. However every video I see always involved fashion for mild weather . Do you have any videos or tips on summer fashion? So mostly advice on how to wear shorts really lol. Cheers.
This is the truth. Thank you for educating others about the importance of the scientific method!
There’s no debate that dairy/sugar cause acne in at least myself and I’m sure many other people. Ice cream 100% is terrible for me. It takes about 2-3 days of eating only meat and vegetables to clear my skin. Trust me try it if you really want to help . Nothing to lose.
Meat has hormones that affect ur skin too
Do you have any specific advice for a guy who doesn't have a huge problem with acne on the face (my skincare routine is taking care of that, slowly but surely), but has a huge problem with body acne.
32 years with hormonal acne... very depressed. Vegan, helped but didn't fix.
Quitting milk is very hard, I work out in the gym and rely on milk afterwards to rehydrate and provide some protein for my muscle cells.
you could drink water or coconut water.
Drinking water actually clears our skin
Based on my own experience, yes dairy does cause acne and water providers healthier looking skin
Hi Fernando, thanks for your comment, I wonder which brand of bar soap you are using? I want to give it a try!
