looks much better than the older version
Yeah can skip Volvo xc60
Walaahi
Absolutely.
I own this car (the 2023 version, which looks identical except some minor differences) and I am very happy with it. It is basically gimmick free, and everything just works well. The build quality is amazing and it feels much nicer than other cars in this segment. The back doors opening wide is super useful, something I didn't even consider as relevant.
Could you please share consumption figures?
It is the hybrid and I get ~33mpg in hilly terrain and mostly short trips. When driving more highway, it was around 35-36mpg. @@scaryfear21
Is it quiet on highway ?
And whats the mpg in the city and highway ?
@@imadr36082024 crv exl .Yes, it drives very quietly at high speed, city 26 highway 30
Lol I have the 2002 version and I will never have the most recent one but I’m still watching and happy, being alive and healthy is the biggest gif I can have 😊😉

You know it’s a nice car if the only complaints are about seat material and spare tires.
and engine and cabin noise etc etc. not on german standard exactly, but still overal nice suv..
@@izoyt hopefully there isn’t an over-abundance of critical parts assembled with plastic, which unfortunately has become a German standard with some companies (I’m looking at you Volkswagen Group).

Hi Thomas, you referred to Volvo for the rear lights, and I can see why you said that, but for me it was more BMW! Anyone else saw BMW?
Very popular here in Switzerland! 🇨🇭
I believe you mean "texture" when you say "structure" for the surfaces of the components. Structure is something else.
I own previous gen crv. Not the most beautiful, but very reliable car that holds stress test of Ukrainian roads well. This new gen looks like perfect iteration as it adds everything i miss in the current one, though the price is a bit ridiculous now. I will consider new Tiguan packed with options or Kodiaq instead.
Love this channel BTW
Thank you very much!
Very nice, practical and unoffensive interior and exterior, no wonder the car is popular. Wish Honda offered Accord with the same tech and design in Europe.
Hello Thomas. Very good review. Was the noise on the highway just from the wind or also from the tires? Does it have good insulation in general?Does it has laminated windshield or thicker windows?
Thanks 🙏 as I said in the driving part, its not the most silent one, but i think the rav4 might be even worse. Mainly wind noise i felt
I have had a new Advance Tech Plug in Hybrid. Charge overnight on a domestic plug on cheaper electricity. Most of my journeys are now done on electric. Comfortable, quiet, practicable, Bose Stereo is very good. Wireless Apple car is also very good.
Huge improvement
Finally crv come with 7 seater . Worth to buy
If you compare it with it`s direct competitor - X-Trail, which one would you choose?
Idk if it's as bad elsewhere in Europe but a major problem with Honda is their pricing. Toyota has rather expensive starting prices for their cars here in Finland, but Honda is way worse. HR-V starts at 37,000€. No wonder they only sold 200 cars last year to Toyota's 14 thousand (or Nissans 2,6 thousand). Honda makes good cars but they are way too expensive for what they are right now, I remember seeing Civics everywhere in the early 2000's, now I don't see any new Hondas which is no wonder since they sell even less than Subaru and Lexus.
Yep look my price verdict in the video
Somehow, in my country, it costs the same as a much more premium Mazda CX60 with a straight 6 3.3 litre diesel and the same as a larger Hyundai Palisade. It costs 25% more than the equivalent Tiguan, Sportage etc. It can't be justified. Hondas used to be all over the roads but these days I barely see one. Their pricing strategy is out of control. They're pricing like they're a premium car maker but they're not and neither are their engines and drive trains. I don't get it.
Honda CR-V is the 3rd best selling SUV in the world in 2023 with over 600k units sold despite its hefty price.
@@SDav21Their pricing is justifiable because Honda is way more reliable than BMW, Mercedes, Audi etc.... the CR-V is the 3rd best selling SUV in the world behind only to RAV4 and Tesla Model Y. In the USA and Canada, Honda is everywhere.
@@user-hi8np4nm2v Their pricing is maybe justifiable in the US and Canada where it isn't 30% more than a Rav4 or Mazda CX5 both of which are equally, if not more, reliable. You can't compare the CRV to a Mercedes, BMW or Audi. It isn't close to that level in terms of drivetrains, suspension components or technology. And it most certainly isn't justifiable being the same price as a much more premium Mazda CX60 with a straight 6 diesel and it is much smaller than a Hyundai Palisade and Kia Telluride. For the rest of the world, the Honda is over priced. It's price is therefore not justified and that's why Honda is fading into irrelevance everywhere else in the world. Their cars are not competitive enough to warrant an extra 30% more than it's direct competitors from Toyota, Mazda, VW, Hyundai and Kia.
Hold my Japanese beer got me😂
i am owner of 2002 honda crv just this year sold it and got again crv 2014 very practical efficient easy drive , cheaper spare parts than german models like tiguan
We have owned two USA Honda vehicles.
They both suffered from LOUD cabin noise.
Starting price for this car in the UK is £46,000 going to £54,000. Top price for this in America is $41,000, which is about £32,000. Mmmm. 😊
You live in wrong continent
"Hold my Japanese beer!" :D
Great, thorough review as usual. Thanks! Almost bought the CR-V 6 years ago, but decided to go for the X1 instead at the time.
Cheers m8 😎
beautiful car
Way too expensive for what's offering, this car it's 56k in ROmania which it's a huge price.
Pathetic towing capacity...
The engine which works well in the Civic is simply not powerful enough for the CRV..
Headroom in the rear isn't acceptable..
And far too expensive in Europe... We need a 30,000€ version like the US market .
The price is crazy for a car in this segment. Somehow, in my country, it costs the same as a much more premium Mazda CX60 with a straight 6 3.3 litre diesel and the same as a larger Hyundai Palisade. It costs 25% more than the equivalent Tiguan, Sportage etc. It can't be justified.
Such a great car. Amazing price, practicality, looks, and resale value. Can't really ask for more.
Somehow, in my country, it costs the same as a much more premium Mazda CX60 with a straight 6 3.3 litre diesel and the same as a larger Hyundai Palisade. It costs 25% more than the equivalent Tiguan, Sportage etc. It can't be justified.
@@SDav21My thougth exactly. For that price you can get Mazda CX60 3.3 diesel full specs or Hyundai Santa Fe 2.2 also full spec. It's a great car but it's at least 10k more than it should be
@@strezification what did you go for in the end
How can you permanently disable the sound of the traffic sign detection beep when you exceed the speed limit? Also, how can I enable the auto lock when I walk away without manually locking the car using the door handle or fob?
I don't understand how is it that cars are so much more expensive nowdays in Europe. And it's not just Japanse brands, VW is much cheaper in China than in Europe. It's like someone is robbing us. Also European brands are cheaper in US.
It's a Honda's strategy in EU, make a profit not by quantity but by margin.
Their main markets are USA and China,
EU market is not interested for them, unfortunately
@@paulo_pastore I'm not sure what it is but compared to NA market many brands including some European ones have higher prices in Europe. In last half a decade prices in Europe skyrocketed while in last decade or so they became noticeably higher than on NA market.
As a total outsider, I would guess that the EU market has the highest amount of accountability and maybe liability/exposure. I’m referring directly to environmental, safety and social exposures companies face when engaging the EU market. Which is good but it is not free. Big stories of Microsoft, Apple and Google are well known but this also applies to everything else. In other words, it costs more to sell a product in the EU so it is more. No doubt it is more complicated but we’re not going to peal back those layers in a comments section.
20% VAT (import turnover tax), 10% motor tax and 1000-2000 shipment cost per car, more expensive employees in dealers etc. leads to elevated prices. VW car produced in chinese factory is still imported car for EU legislation.
Can you test the Jaecoo 7/8
In my country, final price in PHEV...74K€ just unacceptable, too much noisy, nothing special inside, seats are not the best....for 13k€ LESS I choose the CX60 254hp inline 6..after 3000km the fuel consumption is around 5,5L/100. I really not regret my choice
Rav4 plugin with 4wd starts 57k€ in Finland. I negotiated medium trim to 60k€ so that is what I got. I put 1.5k€ to rust protection and sound insulation.
Somehow, in my country, it costs the same as a much more premium Mazda CX60 with a straight 6 3.3 litre diesel and the same as a larger Hyundai Palisade. It costs 25% more than the equivalent Tiguan, Sportage etc. It can't be justified. The CX60 is a much better choice.
@@SDav21 Honda is made in Canada and adds to cost.
@@MrRaitzi Honda should've hedged then. Because at this price, this mediocre SUV will not be selling well other than in the US.
Why am I even here? I can’t even afford the wifi that I’m using right now 😢
Another great review Thomas. Thank you. I have noticed that many vehicles ,when sold in Europe, have much more electrification than in North America. The CR-V PHEV is not available in North America. VW is worse...no HEV or PHEV models at all in North America. Any idea why that is?
One special vehicle 👌👌👌
Very smart design without being overstyled. Would definitely take this over a Tiguan.
I would not because Tiguan All Space is better and Tiguan even at 200kmh speed is silent, passengers won’t even notice how fast car is going unless they see it. This one is noisy at 130kmh 😂. If you want save money buy Toyota Yaris better.
@@NaviNavi-1uu8tg Refinement levels are high in this CRV. Smooth and seamless I-MMD hybrid system. Tiguan has VW engineering. Poor quality designed to fail. Cheap touch capacitive controls on the dashboard. No thanks.
@@jdmguy44 VW is quieter but everything else is horrible there. I test drive a lot compact SUV's recently including CRV, Tiguan, Kodiaq, Sportage, XC60. I dont understand how people like or can even drive new VW cars with in your face drive dashboards. Its just one big straight forward dash and so close to your face. It looks like a plane or electric car in inside. Kodiaq is same as its VW group. Sportage looks better inside but horrible build quality and ride comfort. There wasnt better choice than CRV. Unless you do highway drive every day and Live in Germany. Mixed drive i would say wind noise is ok for CRV, other cars are same. XC60 mby is bit premium but it costs way more with same extras as CRV.
IF somone want to drive compact SUV over 120km/h often they should look Lexus or XC60 and pay premium. I dont think its worth thats my feedback.
I miss when you did a short review of the stereo sound quality of the different cars
They are gonna sell like 7 of these across Europe for that price. They are at least 10 000 euros more than this car should be... Great car bad price
Thomas , I specially liked your reaction when you did the acceleration test 😂. When you said " interesting " , i knew you wanted to say , just like me , its a shit sound that CVT 😂
😂👌
It's a horrible sound
Just like the new civic. Honda just nailed it
This setup is called a parallel hybrid. This is basically how a Prius works. It is actually pretty economical to run. They’re really catching on in India. The economy on highway speeds here (100-120 kph) is around 20 kmpl. These cars are a great stop gap for us in developing nations that cannot quite afford a full blown electric car.
I believe Honda and Toyota use different systems. Toyota has a power split transmission that can divert any ratio of power between the wheels and the motor-generator. Honda has the engine connected to a generator, with an optional clutch that can connect it to the wheels around 90 kph. This means that a Prius can have the engine connected to the wheels more often, while Honda could have more torque.
Did the engineer from Mercedes move to Japan and too his fake exhaust with him? As pedestrian as the CR-V is, it has one of the best panoramic sunroofs on the market. Because it open internally, it can open fully and flush with no overlap.
There's no need for carmakers to include built-in USB A ports at this point. If anyone still has those legacy electronics, its a simple fix to order an adapter for a few bucks. Too bad the door bins are not lined, meaning anything you put in them will be rattling around as you drive.
Good feedback!
l prefer the new mazda cx60 👍
me too
Good morning, I have a difficult question, I am from Guatemala and we have a doubt which is the best car to buy. My questions is between Honda CRV EXL 1.5 turbo with all wheel drive vr Audi Q3 1.4 turbo front traction with comfort equipment. If you can tell me witch is your recommendation I will appreciate, thanks in advance
Cuz it’s non German and has good quality
Seating materials aside, that's a really nice car.
Come on Honda, where are your sustainable seating materials? This is 2024, not 1994.
👍
Honda profit margins must be awesome
Fantastic review as always! So many things we don’t get in the US. Plug-in hybrid, panoramic sunroof, digital instrument cluster, head up display, ventilated seats, heated rear seats. Wish Honda would actually try in the US.
That's because the Acura RDX, which is based on the CR-V, has those options along with a 272 HP turbo inline 4.
@@fartamplifer U.S. Honda product planning suffers due to the presence of Acura.
@@fartamplifer even the RDX is missing some of those features. Hondas main competitor Toyota offers them on the RAV4. Honda US is just lazy and complacent. The vehicle is going to sell well regardless.
Maybe it's because it would cost too much. This new CRV is a poor seller in my country because it costs 25 to 30% more than the equivalent Tiguan, Sportage, Tucson etc. You can get a 3.3 litre straight 6 diesel Mazda CX60 for the same price as this new CRV. It's ridiculous. Honda has priced themselves out of the segment.
@@SDav21Toyota RAV4 just rose their price value by at least $3k for each model while the CRV did not. I check last week and the price just went up the following week. So what give?
I use to have a Mazda 626 and at the end, it was giving me many problems especially the spark plug/alternator which i kept fixing. The space on their suv is alot smaller than both Toyota and Honda. Depreciation on Mazda are sharply decrease by alot more than Toyota and Honda.
Best selling car… but that’s the sound when u accelerate😂😂😂 i am dying
It’s on breaking period right?
Why japanese don't put better sound insulation is always beyond my comprehension.
This is the problem it seems with every Japanese car except Lexus and even Lexus is usually louder on the motorway than it's luxury rivals....
Because culture in Asia is different than Europe. In Japan, car enthusiast like to hear the sound of the vehicle as it brings better driving engagement.
I have the previous CR-V 1.5 193 AWD CVT, done 90+k km with it, including many long rides of 1500 km. It is very good car, fun and enjoyable to drive. This new model for me looks more like refinement, incremental improvement in many aspects. Unfortunately I do not think I will be buying it anytime soon due to the pricing. Recently I asked my local dealer here in NL how much it would cost to trade-in my current CR-V with the new model... the difference is like 25k EUR or more for HEV. For 5-10k EUR less I think I could get maybe Mazda CX60 PHEV, or Toyota RAV4, even the new Tiguan would be significantly cheaper. We will see though in 2-3 years, the pricing could be corrected, hopefully.
Somehow, in my country, it costs the same as a much more premium Mazda CX60 with a straight 6 3.3 litre diesel and the same as a larger Hyundai Palisade. It costs 25% more than the equivalent Tiguan, Sportage etc. It can't be justified.
Can we compare it with Nissan X-Trail e-power, i guess it will be better
The only thing that i miss in the interior is sum nice ambient lights on dashboard and on doors...
For what? Cars are not circus
Thank you Thomas! I am buying this car based on your review. I love the Audi controls and Volvo styling with Honda build and price. Also it’s a too consumer reports AND car and driver pick.
Cheers m8 enjoy! Try to get non animals seating 😎
I WISH I could, but in the USA only the top line comes with part animal :(. I’ll research more to be sure before I buy, maybe I can spec out the regular EX with options. Going for the FWD and regular ICE engine based on your recommendations (and others agree). Unfortunately the hybrid doesnt seem to add much on this model. And since the 4WD isnt full time on this car I dont see the point of the extra maintenance complication.
Yeah bs combinations again by the manufacturers. Sometimes u can get lower trim and add some options, but depends on what else u need
Is the frequency adaptive dampers available on 1,5 Turbo?
Thats a good question
Great review Thomas, it’s nice to see these affordable global vehicles reviewed from a European perspective. Hope you can soon review the new Hyundai Santa Fe 😅
This isn't really affordable anymore outside of the US. Somehow, in my country, it costs the same as a much more premium Mazda CX60 with a straight 6 3.3 litre diesel and the same as a larger Hyundai Palisade. It costs 25% more than the equivalent Tiguan, Sportage etc. It can't be justified.
Hi Thomas, could you do a review on the 2024 Honda Pilot next?
I d love to but we dont have it in Germany.

No panoramic roof in USA 😢
Am I looking at Rav4 2021 ?
Re comment because can’t find first one….
Why doesn’t the North American 2024 have the push button gear selector, or is it an option. I test drove a hybrid touring and it was a normal shifter😢
Decent no fuss family car.
Looks very Q5'ish in deed 😅 I onw one, and this Honda CR-V seems a very good SUV for a more relaxed week commuting!
I decided when I traded in my old Honda that they had become too expensive, and bought an Ioniq instead, but I do like this new C-RV.
Give it the 2.0 turbo petrol engine and Honda 10 speed auto and it will very desirable!!
Perfect combo
I am thinking about selling my 2017 CR-V which surprisingly has an excellent re-sale price, I have received a couple of offers above $20K, for a 7 year old car.
How much did your CR-V cost in 2017?
I'm bought KIA SPORTAGE in 2019 for $20K, now I have offers $18k.
They base on what they can get for the car. Also, interests rates were very low in 2017/19.
its refreshing to have a Japanese car's appearance that is balanced, elegant, and even dynamic. Usually they look like sci-fi cartoon freaks. Not this one.
I’ve owned 7 Honda’s. They have lost their way over the last decade. I look forward to their designs showed at CES 2024.
When @11:38 trying to accelerate, the engine protested so loudly 😄 These big, heavy cars with small, weak engines make me sad tbh...
Füken awesome 👏🤓
CRV did vertical tail lights before Volvo
Absolute right
Is this the full option?
Yep
"Why is it so popular?"
Because it has excellent build quality, durability, reliability and resale value.
Basically everything german cars don't have.
Honda will never have german driving dynamics
@@gullible119lol the equivalent Tiguan (for example) compared to this probably drives 98% the same.
@@deviouslawfor the price it better. No one is buying a honda over 45k
I agree reliability is the only thing that i’m keen on
Yeah the German offerings (Tiguan) are very lacking here in the US.
Not sure about Honda quality anymore. Have a 2018 Honda Fit and it has been the worse car I ever had. I don't plan on buying a Honda ever again.
It really looks and feels great this new CRV but looking at the package as a whole (at least in my country) it should be priced at least 10k Euros below the current price when compared to Korean/Japanese and German competitors. For 54k eu what is a starting price here you can buy either diesel or PHEV Mazda CX60, or even a Volvo XC60 which are in my humble opinion a class above. Not to mention Tucson, Sportage, Tiguan, Kuga, CX5, Forester... SUVs from Stelantis group are maybe only worse priced cars in the segment. But this is not the worst priced Honda in my country. Idiotic ZRV is only 5k cheaper than the CRV with a pathetic boot that is smaller than in a Dacia Sandero and only FWD. Honda is really not trying to do any good in Europe obviously, and they are looking to have a large profit on a every single car they sell, and not going for mass sales results.
Good analysis
@@autogefuehl Great reaview by the way :)
🙏🙏
I test drive Volvo XC60. i dont know what country you talking about but when i asked offers for CRV and XC60, then XC60 with same trim level or packages costed about 7k EUR more. XC60 over 60k. Test drive Tiguan and Sportage also. Tiguan premium is only quieter noise high speeds but the cockpit display is horrible how its in your face too close. Also all the stuff is adjustable from new touchscreen. This is why this review was spot on. When i test drive i dont want to start meddling with center screen to find crucial settings for heats, cools and such. XC60 was even worse they have everything now in one big tablet screen adjustable.
Honda is doing great in Europe, because Kia doesnt sell well and they are doing aggressive discounts. Sportage has nice up to date screens but car itself is not even close to CRV level. Mazda hybrid engine is bad. Seen many engineer video reviews about it and they warn about the design of that engine. Its jerky to ride or lags when you want to speed up. It has to switch between electric and combustion engine and it causes horrible delays.
@@supremeboy if similarly speced XC60 costs just 7k more than CRV, in my opinion it just shows that Honda is overpriced. I also hate the infotainment in Volvo and generally buttons layout in Volvo is really not my cup of tea. Volvo is just a nicer car, stariting from seats, interior quality, ride comfort (although it leans a bit in the bends), smooth drive etc. Diesel engines in Volvo are only a bit to noisy. I tested Mazda CX60 hybrid but it really was a short ride, i spent more time in 3.3 diesel and that thing is briliant. I heard a lot of criticism on the ride quality and jerky ride but did not notice it to be honest. Do not get me wrong I love Hondas, owned 2 of them, still have one in family, but they are just overpriced for what they offer nowdays.
It’s a nice car but too overpriced. For the same cost as the entry level bare-bones version here in Sweden, you could get a certified preowned facelift 4th gen Lexus RX 450h that’s fully loaded (incl. Carplay/android auto), comes with winter tyres, and that has 6-8 years of extended warranty left. Sure the used Lexus might have run for 50000-100000 kms, but considering that the extended warranty covers up to 200000 km and that the old Lexus/Toyota V6 easily runs for 400000 km, it’s not a big concern. In the Nordic market the CR-V is simply a poor value proposition, which is a pity as it’s a much nicer looking car compared to the RAV4.
These are amazing machines and competing quite well with perennial Top Dog Toyota Rav4 the latter of which continues to make a big push into hybrid with the Rav4 Prime. Honda CRV materially larger i think is the big difference between the two. Tesla Model Y still making a lot of noise in this hugely profitable vehicle segment both in upon North America and globally. "Self driving"(hands free) is still what sets Tesla apart from Toyota and Honda and is a game changer for the actual driving experience and for safety same said. Legacy pure play ICE Honda and Toyota will continue to need to "run to stand still" to keep pace with Tesla the Insurgent as a consequence. Winner i agree: actual buyers. Great time if there be the respurces to buy this vehicle and like types.
Toyota and Honda have the best quality and resale value in America versus Euro and American makes.
They offer more trim levels and features in the European market than here in the states. I wish I could have things like ventilated seats and full digital display. Oh and also the blind spot monitors. Why can’t we have nice things too?
I read somewhere it's because the US has Acuras, which aren't available in Europe. I wish CRVs had those features too--and foglights! We got a Sport-L anyway and love it.
at the other hand, the price in Europe much more, 10k$ and more
Why didn’t they use the push button transmission on the North American ones
2024 crv have head up display?
Depends trim level but in Europe highest has it standard package. I know as i ordered one.
cockpit screen could've been bigger.
Nice car. The only thing I don’t like, the lack of a gear stick. I rest my hand on that in my car.
Why does Europe get ventilated seats in the CRV ?
In other market you don’t get ventilated seats or without heated and ventilated seats
specs are sometimes weird from market to market. I prefer a "world spec" like Tesla does
Thanks for sharing. Why can’t German manufacturer best selling SUV ever ???
More chiseled front and the back looks Volvo esque....a good thing. 👍
Why is the engine so loud?
euro ncap changes safety standart. if car doesnt have buttons it will have low safety rating.
Just read that as well! Well, they watched Autogefuehl 😎👌
But from what I read the proposals do not include radio volume and climate controls. Apart from Tesla most cars have buttons / stalks for indicators and buttons for the SOS system. It is a cop out really.@@autogefuehl
Yeah i ll contact them and try to find out more
@@autogefuehlplease let us know what you find out
The one I got is terrible 😢 😢, all the engine lights came up while driving and stopped in the road, now going behind it ti Honda Canada and the dealership.. no parts available..
Oh wow, is it a new one?
Never seen it in my life
You won't be any time soon with that price
Why this not in India?
Picked up a 2024 hybrid touring in nov / 2023 - Honestly, not a fan. I had better gas milage out of my 2018 gas model crv.
Low temperature/winter will take a hit on the battery hence lower fuel efficiency. I get 18-19km/l (mixed) or 42-44mpg in our tropical climate.
Good for PHV but not good for normal people
It’s actually blander compared to previous models imo ? Looks like a Volvo/audi/vw ?
No native speaker would say "one of the most sold ...". Use "one of the best selling...".
Mazda CX60 (phev) vs Honda CR-V?? 🤔🥸🦧
Lexus NX phev

The blind spot camera (fka LaneWatch) is not available in America. Terrible decision.
