I'd say the biggest misconception was rock is immune to electric. Everyone made this mistake because they didn't get that Rock/Ground was a thing. The anime, the guidebooks, everyone

I heard another version of the "Dragonite evolves into Yoshi" rumor that if you went through the proper steps, your Dragonite would look the same but would just get a Yoshi's head.

I remember as a lil kid being sad about knowing that mew was in the truck but not knowing how to get to it lmao
...I only learned about the mew under the truck thing like last year, and have learned since that pretty much EVERYONE ELSE except me thought this to be the case. I always thought you had to surf in the water around the SS ANNE xD
And also, before you showed the picture, I didn't even know that the mythical truck was right next to the ship

jeez i can barely remember the playground rumors at my school
there was a rumor that you could send pokemon back to leaf green or emerald from platinum and diamond, but if you send a mew and mewtwo you would bring it to a scientist and he would merge them to create mewthree
Contrary to the anime misconception you showed, about Onix being affected by electricity, the most common gen I misconception I struggled with, around my group of fellow pokemon players as a kid, is that Rock-types are just as immune to Electric attacks as Ground-types are (clearly untrue, but since most gen I Rock-type were also Ground-types as well, some just took it for granted). Seriously I couldn't clear this misconception, no matter what kind of proof I had showed them, they would just ignore it and call me an idiot. Some of them realised that I was right, around gen III, or IV, but some are persistent, even to this day.
Never heard of the Yoshi thing until relatively recently.
I was told about Yoshi when I was a kid but my friends never knew the method and just claimed that they had him in the game that they "left at home"

The episode makers, for a very long time, had the misconception that Rock was immune to Electric types because in Generation 1, all the Rock Type Pokemon (except fossils) were also part Ground type. And yep, you ended up mentioning this in the video....I guess I should have posted after watching.
One misconception that took a while for me to let go of was electric type moves had no effect against rock types. The reason for this is, in the original Kanto region, there were a lot of ground/rock types, which, with my lack of knowledge that it was the ground typing that made electric type moves utterly ineffective, I thought rock types were also immune to it, too. This took me a while to remember, embarrassingly enough. XD

one of the big misconceptions in my time of playing Pokémon was lucario and zoroark were thought to be legendary ed at one point
When i was a kid, i assumed the Sprinkers was what defeated Onix & Pikachu did very little, except maybe pull the final straw.

Once, in the battle institution in X and Y, I saw a Serperior who's leaf storm raised its special attack instead of lowering it. Since I didn't know what contrary was, I thought it was hacks
The Mew under the truck can be found after activating a glitch. I think they showed it off at AGDQ 2016.

In relation to facing off against Brock, I gained the misconception that BOTH rock and ground were immune to electric type attacks because Brocks pokemon were both rock and ground types so you could not tell if one or both were immune to electric type attacks
you forgot pressing A plus B together will let you catch any pokemon without fail , I've even heard double tapping a and b rapidly to , but the mew under truck was the biggest everyone heard that
the fact that I witnessed my buddy do the truck method on his game cartridge for Red/blue makes me believe maybe only very rare few games could actually obtain it and that he got very lucky. that or he had a hacked game and didn't realize that lol
Classic missconception in my childhood: All ghosts in gen 1 had a poison double type.
"But.. but psychic is effective against ghost.. right? RIGHT FOLKS??"
...nope.
The show made it abundantly clear that Brock's Pokemon were resistant, if not immune, to electricity. In the anime Thundershock only worked as the final blow against Onix was because it was covered in water, a hazard battle condition that didn't exist in Gen 1.
The thing that really got _me_ was that I always thought Ash was officially eleven in the anime after about halfway through the Johto arc because, y'know, he celebrated having been with Pikachu for a full year and got the Pikachu shortly after turning ten. But nope! Somehow he's still officially ten after experiencing multiple years of life since his journey began.
they have erased all continuity in the show outside of each region
I think we have Black and White to blame for that... in the first episode they say "Ten-Year-old Ash Ketchum!"

I always feel compelled to point out that we DO have a Yoshi Pokemon, even if it doesn't evolve from Dragonite. It's called "Shiny Bagon". Except people usually miss that I'm joking.
What if in sun & moon, mew gets a mega evolution and the stone is found under a truck, we actually know trucks will somehow be involved in the games. I could totally see them messing with us that way since even the creators know about the existence of that rumor
My friends and I used to think Scyther was a legendary because in the Pokémon TCG it was the first Basic card we got that wasn't small and cute

Another misconception would be Electric being weak to Rock and not effective to rock, this is because all Rock types in Gen 1 were also Ground Type

Not a gen 1 misconception, but I thought Shellos was a pre-evolution of Lapras before I saw a Gastrodon.
+ Arcanine was originally intended to be one of the legendary trio (instead of moltres) but because 2 birds and a dog is stupid they created moltres
I would often mistake Drapion for being part Ground type, as well as mistaking Forretress for a Rock type.
...Did a ton of people just watch the last part of that episode with Brock or something? I seem to recall Brock's onix easily besting pikachu with its type advantage until pikachu managed to basically make the sprinklers use Soak on onix several generations before this was possible in the games. I think a less absurd, somewhat related misconception would be the idea that the rock type is immune to electric attacks. Sure the first rock types you'd think of are (namely the ground types that Brock carries), but try getting a 1st generation fossil pokémon to shrug off a thunderbolt and you'll be sorry.
A lot of these are less misconceptions and more just plain rumours. Most of them people believed because they were told rather than logically coming to mistaken conclusions.
Arcanine WAS once legendary. I think you meant to say "IS"

It's hardly a misconception that Arcanine was intended to be a legendary pokemon, because he was originally intended to be a legendary pokemon. He was given the base stats of a legendary, and as you can CLEARLY see in the anime, he was portrayed with the legendary birds, however, the developers decided he clashed against the theme of the birds, and since moltres was already part fire, they demoted him to just.. a really great normal pokemon. So no, he was not misconceived as a legendary, he was demoted from the status.
Um, just an FYI I have found mew under the truck. Now granted, I haven't played in a long time, and I cannot remember if it was in a playthrough of my actual game. Or a rom on my phone, but I have done it. It's not a rumor.
The video was good but the volume was a little too low. Especially in contrast to Birdkeepertoby's video.
The good thing about most of these hoaxes is that they left you with a much stronger party
