I think he still means to use the one pin but if DP finds placing the blade just off vertical he could utilized the 10 (not 8) lug nut positions to adjust the blade angle by 36* off vertical or horizontal.

Might I suggest that since y'all have plenty of studs to bolt it to.
Take three of those out, and replace them in a way to taper them as alignment pins that are longer than your attachment studs.
That'll make it much easier to connect everything together.
Otherwise I say y'all did excellent work both in conception as well as construction of y'all's universal implement.
Nice rake for cleanup afterwards too.

I had some loggers once that, once they got into the shop, there was no getting them out until they ran out of money.
The saw on the TacoTractor really looks good. I can see doing some definite timber stand improvement with it. The only thing that I'd want is a way to change the angle easily from the cab. Snowball Engineering just did some repair work on an attachment for tipping boxes over to dump them. Used a hydraulic cylinder and a rack.

Great job on both of those projects. I have a couple suggestions for the eliminator. I would think you would have better hose protection if you rotated the saw so that the blade was above the attachment in the horizontal cutting position. The second suggestion would be to add a skid attachment to the end of the saw so that if you hit a dip while running the skid steer, the skid would prevent the saw blade from gouging into the ground. You could also consider building a bolt on skid that sits back offset from the motor side with an additional skid that would prevent the blade from going into the ground while in the vertical cutting position. The only downside to it would be that it could be in the way if you're trying to cut in between trees that are close together. Hope this helps

I got something you should think about if you want your jag. To be stored somewhere. Why don't you take it? Get one of those Jack mounts and put on your plate. On this that goes on the skid, steer them. That way, when you're using it in the sideways position. Flat position, then you're Jack. You can put it up there on that plate. And it'd be all the way

Hey Mike. Very nice job. With an air ratchet to mount and unmount, it seems like this will be more challenging for an on-site switch over from one mount to the another! Just a couple of thoughts on improvements. (1) You could mount the stand to the top plate that connects to the 240 (Plenty of space on top of the 6x6 bar). (2) You could add in a valve control bypass to give it more power if necessary. (3) Ever think of replacing the saw blade with a chainsaw bar? Looks like it is possible and you could get some extra reach with larger limbs, maybe in the range of 16 to 30 inches! Where to mount the auto bar oiler! 😁

  • @jrbrumley9334

Mike, it looks like operating with the blade in the flat position really works for cutting down the trees. I could see where trimming limbs straight up and down position would work really well along a trail as you mentioned. Trying to cut small trees with the blade straight up and down leaves a pretty dangerous stump but when the blade is in the flat position it looks like you can get pretty close to ground level. Great job and thanks for taking us along during this journey of yours. J.R.

It seems to me that you could benefit from adding a 'wedging' arm to your spinning blade. This could conceivably stick out from the main arm at an angle of about 45 degrees and be a few feet longer than the blade radius. A strong-enough loading spring could work ... to stabilize the saw and arm as you approach a trunk or a branch without creating hard collision.. Right now, everything is sort of wobbly and you waste time lining up properly. The arm would slide against the object to secure it to the saw arm and allow smooth cutting without bounce.

While you're getting the hoses, have a quick coupling mounted on the lemonador to where you can put a quick cup line there and then at a quick complaint on it. The skin steer and then that way. That set of hoses will be one size and then put a quick coupling. Um, the hoses for the excavator and then you won't have to change it. Do nothing but change out the 2 sets of hoses. That way you won't have to have too long. A hose on one or two or two shorter holes, on the other think about it
