    CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Dad (Ethan Hawke) shares his wisdom after Mason's (Ellar Coltrane) break-up with his high school sweetheart.
    FILM DESCRIPTION:
Richard Linklater's Boyhood is a coming-of-age drama that the director spent twelve years making. He cast a young boy, Ellar Coltrane, and shot the film a few days at a time for over a decade so that he could capture how his leading actor, and the rest of his cast, aged. The film's story simply follows a boy named Mason (Coltrane) as he progresses from age 6 to 18 and deals with the typical travails of childhood like his parents' divorce, bad stepparents, falling in love, finding his artistic voice, and fighting with his bratty older sister. Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette co-star as Mason's parents.

Ethan Hawke's performance was so natural in this film, it didn't even feel like he was acting.

I feel like that's sort of the Ethan Hawke calling card.

@@vanillatje8339 Yes man, he's a brilliant actor, that's what i love about him, his subtle acting, he rarely goes over the top, but when it does, he doesn't feel overreacted.

It's not really that surprising if you're a fan of Before Trilogy (which is also directed by Richard Linklater), watch those movies, especially his scenes with Julie Delpy and you know that he is a naturally great actor.

It's moments like this in life and small conversation like this which can have the longest impact... I remember a chat my dad and I had at a Burger King when I was about 16 years old. We were talking about girls and relationships but one thing he said stuck with me ever since and has continued to stay with me for over 20 years and that is "You've got to be your own man". Thanks dad

'Im sick to death a her' 😂 I found growing up that a father's straight forward way of talking to you about relationships gone pear shaped was always the best way to help me get over it, even as a female. Dad's are irreplaceable ❤
