Stone Knights are ENORMOUS! (but die easy) | Lets Play Dark Souls [Part 13]

Never played Dark Souls, never played a Souls-Like, but I've heard from many of you that they are amazing! So I guess it's time for me to put my big-boy pants on and give one of these a try. Things I've been told to expect:
- I'm gonna die a lot

- I might want to throw my PC out a window
lol... I'm SUPER excited though to delve into the genre that has defined what a 'challenging video game' looks like. I really hope you have an awesome time, and if you do, it would be amazing if you'd consider subscribing.

MECHANIC: if you 2-hand a weapon that you aren't strong enough to use, you only need 2/3 the strength requirement.

Aswald, the "sins guy", is not really a covenant guy, yes he sells magic, but his main purpose is mainly gameplay, as you discovered you can attack npcs, and Aswald can help you make peace with them in case you make the mistake of aggroing them

I love how everyone goes from thinking the first castle was really hard, to realising the OTHER areas in the game can be way harder. Personally I think the Devs made that castle as an extended tutorial.

I'm not sure if you realize this in later videos, but the only thing you get from upgrading shields is upping the attack of the actual shield, like if you two handed the shield and started bashing people with it. what you want to be looking for is the damage reduction on the right side of the stats, and that doesn't go up with upgrades. stability is also important, the higher that is, the less stamina blocking attacks takes. so i don't wanna say those levels you put into the shield were wasted exactly, but most of the time you don't need to upgrade a shield at all, unless it has spikes on it or something lol

People have already told you about this, but if you have half the strength requirement for a weapon you can use it properly by two-handing it.

You can two hand weapons that you can't "use" as regular, so if you want to try out a weapon you don't have the stats for, play with it in two handed mode.

If you hold down on the d-pad you will automatically select your flask no matter what item you had selected before. It can be nice to be able to get your flask out without needing to cycle through every item in the way.

Yup just 2 hand everything...I watched the best speed runners try to fat roll a game as a tank build they all got there ass kick ...it's all about speed

you can dash back when those stone knights are casting the spell to get out of his range.

for strength builds the clubs are the best weapons

MECHANIC: you are trying hard not to over encumber yourself with weight, but that's for people who play dex builds so they can light/medium roll.

Have you figured out where to use the basement key in future videos? That's one that took me a little while. Also about the 2 handing comments, since it's only 1 button press to swap to 2 Handed it means that your shield can still be equipped and brought back out with a single button press. Can Be verry handy for emergency damage.
