These SEO Experts claim all sorts of random things. If you ask a barber whether you need a haircut, the answer will be yes. I guess now one more expense to add to your online business is to hire SEO services to get things "right" because you can't apparently.

My site was doing 300-400 page views/day prior to the update. Then it dropped to less than 50/day. But a few days ago it jumped back up again. Lost a few rankings and had to deal with a few days of stress. But everything came out just fine in the end.

The problem is not taking things to heart, or taking them personally. The problem is no one really knows how to satisfy Google. I would bet most serious bloggers and site owners are fully willing to take criticism to save their business...but the information on improving a site is vague (at best).
Yeap. There are some bits of information I’m getting that seems to fit and maybe a way that google found sites and penalised them. I’ll investigate more before sharing

What did the SEO expert say you needed to change on your travel website? You taught me not to worry about big drops in traffic because it will probably be reversed… so I’m not worried. I’ve also seen sudden declines in traffic reversed multiple times now after updates. My sites weren’t hit too badly but two still saw a slight decrease in the first week. Now they seem to be improving.

gawed, I'm standing on the outside looking at the mess, there are people out there that are experimenting with 100% AI content that are saying they haven't been effected and then people that only do human written content that are having 50, 60% loss of traffic, seem so me there is way too much emphasis on google as the only source of traffic, there has got to be other ways.
100% correct. There are several ways to get traffic. I know someone in Canada who makes £10k a month just from Facebook

I can't believe that the guy really blocked you. Anyway, I don't like his way of communication when his target is us (niche website owners). He always mentions that our goal is to make money with as little effort as possible, which is the ultimate goal of everyone in the world lol. And that doesn't mean that we don't provide useful content. I'd love him to be more objective and professional when providing answers to questions people ask.
p.s. one of my sites got hit ca. 30%, and the other one (better one) got hit ca. 50%. So far, I realized that I need to shorten those long, boring intros and make specific meta titles and descriptions for each article (which, unfortunately, I didn't do in the past).

What is Google his masters doing then? Charity? They are also a business with the intent to make money. Not serve the human race. And they should look in the mirror before pointing fingers to others. Their product is garbage and that's why they need to keep updating it.
Featured Snippets & PAA have become a joke. 2 years ago (or so) I lost most of my featured snippets and probably all of my PAA snippets.
They were replaced by snippets, that are either inacurate or have nothing to do with the questions.

lol funny enough he used my site in his first video, but I've been rebuilding on a staging site since AG its great if you know but until you do you cant make changes. Im not an SEO nor do I ever claim to be. Im hardly a blogger either I'm a YT creator turning blogger but its all still new and a learning curve, google def makes you learn for sure

And they should do less changes, I bet half of these are useless to 90% of the websites.
Carl I am convinced that something is broken...because earlier wikihow was ranking for a search term which i am competing for but now I see crappy sites with dr 16 outranking wikihow ...and worst part is it has no h2 and h3 and its a thin page... real mess..even reddit results are no answering the query properly...infact bing is giving proper results...

I recently added a meta tag to my homepage as well. I’ve been researching more advanced seo practices since the google update. It’s the little things that you don’t think much of that end up being helpful in the long run. Fortunately I wasn’t hit as hard with this update, but traffic is still down about 10-15 percent.

So what happened woth the featured snippets .did they come back..foes Google block certain websites from featured snippets?
I never got mine. It’s like a van on the site. If you get hit by the snippet ban you can’t get them back. Or at least I have never seen it personally
Same with me. Got the ban about a year back and it has never got the snippets back. I even went and modified the content a bit comparing it with what was actually getting snippets. Still did nothing. So I'm guessing it's a site ban to never get any snippets no matter how good the content is. Seems like Google algo does not like when people are writing what it wants.
That seems to have happened even with this helpful content update. If you write content that people are searching for, you get tanked. Basically, Google is a trash product at this point with current SERPs. Maybe someone inside the company is trying to destroy it.
One of my website which had 2 lac traffic per month is now left to 15k. My website has 500 posts. All the posts written are well researched and made with years of hard work. Do you think i should close the website or any chance of getting backs into position?
It could come back if google reverses the update. Just wait for now and see what happens

As to being blocked I'd honestly put that down to error.

Ahh, the self proclaimed SEO experts. No one is an SEO expert because no one knows what the algos do.
There's so much crap floating around at the moment about what you can and can't do on your site. People are conparing eggs with chickens. Forbes can have 50 ads above the fold because they have high authority. If your site is less than 1-2 years old you probably can't have ads above the fold. Firbes can write crap articles and still rank them, you can't. SEO is far from complicated and most is just common sense. I have 20 years experience, so what!!! All that means is I'm old 🤣
Good Keywords, content and backinks is 99% of the game.

And reddit and quora posts and replies have absolutely ZERO EEAT.
So answers can help people but google can’t figure out in those forums which answers the search query

No one has any answers yet as at the time of filming the update hasn’t rolled out. The point of the video was to not take all the opinions just yet as they are guesses. When we have data we can process and plan. Sorry you found the video pointless.
