Google Helpful Content Update Fix? ( Good Advice )

- If your site was hit by the HCU then some of the advice offered by Google might now be worth listening to.
In the past it has been not very helpful shall we say. But, lately, it's been much better.
Finding a fix for the Helpful content update might actually be possible and John Mu and the Google liaison team seem to be giving us better advice.

I'm not an expert, just offering my opinions.
I feel that you are being too kind to Google and crediting them with the intelligence to 'know what they are doing'. The fact that they state that they 'visit your site regularly' and then say that 'it might take 3 to 6 months to discover content - if at all' - demonstrates otherwise.......

Seems like a whole bunch of guess work. Nobody knows anything. Not even Google knows what's going on! 😂
Google is one of the leading companies in AI. They have Gemini, Bard, Bert, etc., but people still think that Google can't read at all. People still think Google cares about a 404, a broken link, or a missing alt tag. I miss those days when this was important. I think it's all outdated information and a pure waste of time.
What do you think is important? And any tip you can share for people to recover a site
@@CarlBroadbent Try to learn as much as possible from Koray Tuğberk GÜBÜR. His material is advanced and hard to learn, but once you understand it, you will understand how Google works.
Very helpful information and tips Carl! Thank you. It's just frustrating that Google destroys other people's business and sites... Very demotivating... Hopefully something will change in the next month's, we need to wait and be patient.

How do you figure that? Google doesn't owe you anything. It sucks for those who lost rankings in google but at the same time, some of those people only focused on SEO and not try to diversify their traffic sources. Are you going to sue Amazon then too when they cut their commissions?
@@inlovewiththailand Purposely altering the SERPS to prioritise sites who make them $$ for starters. A company in the US are already pursuing it. Alternate traffic sources will NEVER outrank or outweigh Google SERPS traffic unless you just so happen to go viral

Google search is an absolute mess, i often have to go pages deep to find an answer im looking for. There were more relevant answers 10 years ago than now when searching, so Helpful Content nonsense is absolute clown world. 🤡🤡👍

Thanks for this. I've updated everything on my site, defluffed, redirected, merged articles and redesigned the home page. Did that a month ago and I have actually seen and extra 30 views over the part couple of days for each day so 🤞. I never got over 150 before, maybe throttled?
Do you have any tips for alt text and meta tags? I never bothered with that before and I don't feel I really suffered as a result. Might be worth looking into now as one last thing.
I’m not an expert in that but I make sure to add the basics and especially in images. Most people download an image from canva or other similar sites and do nothing to them. Such a waste.
I think 2024 will be the year we will see the burying of artificial link building and bulk generated content with AI. I would also speculate that SEO tools fundamentally built upon Google's SERP may face the same fate.

All what you think is the problem then it is not the answer. The HCU is something YOU have applied all that time ago but today *almost* nobody knows where the cancer is. Please, please don’t listen to the post of waiting 3 to 6 months. Remember one thing all the high traffic you had is gone.

Great video Carl. I feel there won't be a fix anytime soon, because Google themselves have said that the classifier will stay on your site even if you fix it, until they see all the unhelpful content has stopped being created. So if you fix it today you may not see any improvement for many months.

Can custom 404 page solve 404 error? Or do I need to redirect it to relevant content ?
Time on site, engagement, ctr, all browser based and trackable as per current legal case is leaking. Whats your average time on page? If its low your content is probably crap.
