The 43 is for the “classic” body style. The 53 is for the new 2019 body style.
@@TonyTheTruckGuy have you ever used sprint booster in manual mode on your automatic ? If so was it more aggressive that way? Do you think manual mode will do damage on automatic vehicle
Manual shifting the automatic will only damage the vehicle if you're downshifting too soon, causing the engine to over-rev. But regardless, it will probably put a little more wear on the transmission as opposed to normal auto mode. I have not tried the Sprint Booster in manual mode in my truck, as I find it a bit awkward to do with buttons instead of paddles or an actual shifter, but I can give it a try. It's fairly aggressive in tow/haul and in race 9.
@@TonyTheTruckGuy ok thanks for responding and i was meaning manual mode as in the little switch button on the sprint booster module itself just curious if its more aggressive in acceleration if module switch is set in manual mode but let me know if you decide to try it
You're turning into the go to place for installs and reviews for me. Another great video man, thanks for the detail.
Thanks man I appreciate the positive input!
Not a problem, I also forgot to say great choice in an intro song. Love me some PWD.
Yeah!
The sprint booster is the best. Dont even mess with the others. More features too. You made the smart choice.
@milchuck No I haven't tried them. But if you try another brand your probably regret you didn't get the original which is the sprint booster. It's the smallest of all the brands out there I have seen and has the most features and it works. I did some research and reviewed a lot of comments and viewed many videos on all the pedal controllers. The sprint booster has had different versions to give you more features. I ended buying it for my BMW but I haven't installed it so far. So this is just my opinion and you can take from it what you want. Thanks you and have a good day.
Love my Sprint Booster. I leave it on race 9 and never touch it. That's all I do. Don't need the other settings. I want the full effect when I need it. Just use your foot to control how much and how soon you want power.
Can you make a video showing pedal lock usage?
ruclips.net/video/Izp8i7Q9fs0/видео.html
This was THE BEST demonstration on youtube. super realistic real world examples. especially for cars that are alot slower and need instant pick up speed. this sold me.
So if i understand correctly. If you're cruising at 65mph, and as long as your foot is not on the accelerator pedal, you can change mode? You cannot change mode if you're stepping on the gas pedal right?
Not cruising, but coasting. Correct, I have changed modes while off the throttle numerous times. Never tried while on throttle.
just got mine, not impressed at all... you can get the same marginal performance out of a cold air intake for half the price (2019 ram rebel)
Most decent CAI cost $300-$400 which is the same or more as this, so I’m not sure what you mean. I think they pair nicely together. There’s no denying the sprint booster changes the throttle response and transmission manners.
If you want to know an awful throttle response, look at the yaris ia. I can mash the pedal down 100% and it will respond 1-2 seconds later. POS lol 106 horsepower of sadness
I remember coming from a stop having mashed the pedal down 75% of the way and the dang thing is still going 20mph inching like a snail through an intersection. You have to mash it, then it feels like it's going too fast and out of control
No thanks haha
Outstanding evaluation/demonstration. Just ordered this product for my SUV.
BEST ONE OUT THERE….2 YEARS AND NO ISSUES….SET IT TO RACE 9….FORGET ABOUT IT…!!!!!!!
I went happy medium at sport 9, but race 9 was definitely fun from time to time lol
FYI sprint booster is the inventor of these kinds of products. All the others are imitators.
That’s what they claim anyways haha
@@TonyTheTruckGuy trueee lol I was planning on getting pedal commander but then I found out about this one. I I like the features more on this than the pedal commander.
@@TonyTheTruckGuy specially since I have a 2014 Corolla 6 speed manual and this one has a mode specifically for manual transmission
I’ve heard of pedal commanders failing and causing throttle issues too. I also like how the sprint booster makes it so 50% throttle is actually 50%. It just gets there quicker. As where the pedal commander gives like 100% throttle by 50% pedal position.
@@TonyTheTruckGuy very true! 😁 Super excited to get it man
Nice camera work given the amount of room and odd angle you're working with. Good video.
Thank you!
Couldn’t agree more!!
What made u want to test this in 4 wheel drive?
I always leave the truck in auto 4. It wasn’t actually in 4wd during the test.
I’m looking at this now because it recently returned my Pedal commander. It kept throwing me codes and lit up my Ram 1500 limited dash like a Christmas tree. Loved the response but it’s not worth the codes or the other issues folks seems to be having with it. The sprint booster seems a bit more simple, safe and won’t put your machine in a frenzy.
Which model did you have? I just got the pc78 for my 21 1500 HEMI eTorque
So don’t change modes while on accelerometer right? Awesome video 👍🏼
Correct. Haven’t had any issues so far.
It kills me that auto makers dont add things like this in production. It seems like a common sense addition to any vehicle....
I’m sure they intentionally leave the throttle lag because certain people can’t handle instant power to the ground lol
That's why most cars come with their own sport mode
Love your Vids! Would you still recommend this and any code or ecu issues?
Thanks! I actually traded the truck in last November when my lease was up, but I loved it and I didn’t really have any issues with it. Like ONE time I had half a second where I didn’t have throttle response but that could have been just me confusing the transmission or a glitch with the truck itself. Never had another problem after that in the 2 years I had it.
Ok I'm only at 11:41 of the video but it sounded the best to me in the stock mode. I would run the Pennzoil ultra synthetic or Rotella Truck synthetic or Amsoil in that engine if your going to keep tromping that throttle for the sake of the lifters and cam shaft. Just throwing my thoughts out.
Probably not a bad idea but it’s just been getting whatever the dealer uses during the oil change. Been having them do the changes just so they can’t argue I did it wrong if something happens with lifters or cam. Race mode is definitely more aggressive than stock though.
Hey Tony, just so you and your viewers know. I just got my SB-V3 and installed today. It works great, and I was able to shift from mode to mode, and level while driving, but with my foot OFF THE GAS.
It's deceiving at first and you have to remind yourself this unit only affects the fuel signal. It really throws you back in the seat when you get on it! I did notice another thing during my install, my connector is not like yours, I assume it is a newer model so it did not have wires connecting the two plugs. It has a double ended connector with the controller plugged in and that connector block goes between the pedal plug and the factory connector.
Now, I have to wonder, what would it be like to add a tuner as well. I know, some tuners cover throttle response as well, but that might be a heck of a ride, until my wife finds out!
Thanks for the install review and how to's.
It might be helpful to add my truck is a 2022 Ram Laramie, 4x4, 5.7 Hemi, with etorque.
Thanks for the comment! I believe they update the connector on the newer ones. A tuner would add some fun but just have to say bye bye to warranty haha
@@TonyTheTruckGuy Yeah, no fun allowed! Have a great weekend.
@@gunnersecuador7515 You too!
Do you still have the Sprint booster on the vehicle I also have a 2019 ram 5.7 hemi Laramie audition do you have a link ... debating about getting one have you had any issues do you still have it on the truck
Link in video description! And I also replied to your other comment about reliability 😃
Nice review. I am deciding between the PedalMax and the Sprint Booster. Was there anything you did not like about the Pedalmax? Thanks
I haven’t personally used the pedal max, so I can’t give any advice on it really. I went with the sprint booster because it’s a 1:1 ratio with the pedal. Pedal commander makes the throttle go to like 100 when the pedal is only at maybe half. I’m not sure exactly how the pedal max works.
Nice video!
You also have valet mode limits acceleration big time and pedal lock
Yeah I covered those 2 items in a different video cause this one was getting a bit lengthy haha
I think I want one of these for my 2011 chevy. But I'm not finding videos answer this one question. When I'm in 4x4 and crawling and simply want no lag. But not a huge leap in volume. I don't want to launch the truck over a stick. Do you know what I mean? Will this thing work? Because the truck is completely useless with the throttle lag that it has. Have you ever tried to rock the truck?
I get exactly what you mean but unfortunately I never crawled with my truck, so I never really got to test a scenario like that. I'm also not sure how different the Chevy will be from the Ram. I think you could find a sweet spot or a happy medium though. You get the 3 modes - stock, sport, and race, plus the 9 adjustments on each mode. The reason I liked this over a Pedal Commander is because this was more proportionate. Pedal Commander gives full throttle at like 1/4 throttle as where this is more 1:1 ratio, so it's easier to control. If you find it's too jumpy, you can dial it back.
What is the model number so i can look for a used one?
SBDO1053S. I've got the product link in the pinned comment and the video description as well if you want to visit the actual Sprint Booster site for more info.
@@TonyTheTruckGuy did you sell yours already?
@@resdawgs Good question lol. I might actually still have mine. Let me look around
@@TonyTheTruckGuy ok ill buy it if u still have it
@@resdawgs Looks like I do still have mine. Where are you located and what’s a fair price to you?
Do you have Etorque in your 2019 Ram ..? I like the simple install of the SN but not sure if it will work with Rams Etorque…??
My truck did NOT have the eTorque. I think it would still work though. Might be worth emailing Spring Booster customer support and checking with them.
Okay so I had my pedalmax on my Ram for about 2 weeks now today and totally failed driving down the highway all of a sudden no throttle had to pull over shut the truck off wait turn it back on turn the pedal Max off and limp home with no throttle I got home and it was throwing no low voltage throttle position on the dash so I disconnected the pedalmax reconnected the factory and no codes no engine light on so it's inherently dangerous is my opinion
Yeah you're definitely giving the pedal box a lot of trust and control. I've heard of similar issues or worse with the Pedal Commander, which is why I went with Sprint Booster. Glad you were able to make it home and nothing happened where you got hurt.
I was having issue after issue with the install. This is the only video that really helped thank you!
Long ass video for 15 seconds of content......SPOILER ALERT it works go to 9min
Yeah except a lot of people want to know how it’s installed and what it does... hence all of the informative talking. The title, “INSTALL AND TEST”. Like what did you think it was going to be? 🤣 You’re welcome for the FREE video.
I grew up driving sticks with cable throttle. The gas pedal response was predictable. My current TL automatic sucks . It's like there are dead spots. On the highway when I want to increase speed you have to be aggressive with the pedal. Gentle pedal pressure is hit or miss.
Yeah it’s quite annoying haha
Will the sprint buster work on 2001 F250 7.3 diesel with supper chip.
Doesn’t look like they support any Ford trucks older than 2004 unfortunately.
well i hope this is better than the "pedalComander"after 2months.the dash lite up with all kind of messages and when i too my foot off the brake it would lunge forward.i had to pull in a parking lot disconnect it ..put it back to stock and all was good again.so much for the "PedalComander"!😠😡!
Yeah I read about a few horror stories with the Pedal Commander which is another reason I went with this.
So, leaving it in Sport 9 might be the happy medium? Will this get along well with eTorque?
Not sure on the eTorque, as my truck doesn’t have that. In theory, there shouldn’t be any interference with the eTorque since it still feeds off of throttle position, but maybe email SpringBooster and ask just to be safe. And exactly, I leave mine on sport 9 usually. Race 9 is fun every once in a while just to hear the engine rev and such but it definitely isn’t as fuel efficient haha.
@@TonyTheTruckGuy HOLY COW!! I installed mine. Immediately, the traction control service message flashed across the dash and the "service gas pedal" message popped up too. I attempted to drive it and it was accelerating without me even touching the pedal, and accelerating fast. I turned around and went home and immediately unhooked it. I put my scanner on and got several pedal code errors. I erased them and the traction and pedal service light went off, but now the check engine light won't go off.
I'll call Sprint Booster tomorrow and find out WTF is going on.
@@craig4fsu Wow that’s really strange. What year is your truck? And what mode were you on?
@@TonyTheTruckGuy, Sport 9, 2021. The guys at 5thgenrams.com said i didn't wait long enough before starting the truck. They said give it a day or two, hook it back up, wait 20 minutes and then start the truck.
@@craig4fsu Was your truck running or ignition on when you plugged it in?
I went with Hikeit due to on the fly configuration, automatic configuration, and anti-theft mode. Got it for $185 and I love it!
Haven’t heart of that one I’ll have to check it out. This one also has a pedal-lock for anti-theft as well as valet mode. It’s BASICALLY on the fly. Just have to let off the throttle and push the button to change modes then can get back on throttle. Can you feel a difference with the Hikeit?
Windbooster or sprintbooster?
Nice video, got to know though. Will this void the warranty? Thanks
I don’t think it will that’s why I went with something like this over a tuner. A tuner the dealer could potentially tell that you were in the ECM. This device in theory just manipulated the throttle input and should have no affect on the ECM.
@@TonyTheTruckGuy i see. Well i will ask a friend who works at a Dodge/Ram dealer in the service department and will let u know.
valsid77 did you ever found out?
@@joshallen2953 yes he said that they might be able to trace it if they would look really really into it but again it depends on the dealer u would take your truck.
@@valsid77 how would they really really look into it? They cant trace something that doesn’t leave a trace.
Great video!! Any coupon codes possibly use on there website? Thanks
Unfortunately I wasn’t able to find any unless you have the Wikibuy, Honey, etc attachments to your web browser, they may kick up some codes but it’s unlikely. Typically it’s hard to get a discount on “performance” products like this and I think they are a smaller company.
Was just wondering if anyone had any problems with install? I just purchased one for my 19 Ram. Did what they said about the door being open (10 minutes) hooked it up, and as soon as I started the vehicle, my dash lite up like a Christmas tree. Traction control, throttle era, and so on. Had no throttle response. Unhooked it, and everything normal but a check engine light. Any input would greatly be appreciated!
Was your ignition off when you connected everything, and were all the connectors fully connected and locked in?
@@TonyTheTruckGuy yes
@@randyknafel5951 Very odd. You’ll probably have to go to local auto parts store if you don’t have a scanner and clear out that engine light. Then maybe try the sprint booster again. It’s possible you got a defective one, otherwise it should work especially since your truck is the same year.
@@TonyTheTruckGuy I thought about maybe unhooking the battery, and installing it and see if that would work.
@@randyknafel5951 Could try that as well. Hopefully it was just a fluke
No! Ecco perché preferisco Sprint Booster a Pedal Commander o Pedal Max. Pedal Commander e Pedal Max fanno esattamente come hai descritto.
@@vittorio281 Corretto!
How does it work with cruise control, ie you go up a hill?
The cruise seems to be as aggressive as stock. It downshifts or whatever it needs to do to maintain the target speed
Can i set this up on my 2019 ram classic 5.7
Yep! It’s a different part number though. I have the Sprint Booster for 2009-2019 classic Rams listed in the video description.
what's the best tuner for the ram
i heard the pedal commander had bad reviews do you recommend the sprint booster
These pedal commanders aren’t really a “tuner”, they just help with throttle response. There’s no trace in the ECM so warranty should not be voided. I’ve been happy with my sprint booster so far and have had near zero issues. The o oh problem I had was 1 time I hit the throttle and it had a small hiccup, but it was for only half a second and honestly I’m not sure if it was the sprint booster or the truck. It only happened 1 time.
@@TonyTheTruckGuy ok ill have to try the sprint booster
is there any tuners available for the ram 2020
@@rupertturner7311 Honestly not sure as I haven’t researched tuners since I don’t want to void my warranty, but I’m sure they have some available by now. When these trucks first came out, the only option was the Pulsar which is a piggyback ECM.
I have a 2021 ram 1500 I work for 2021 ?
I would double check their website or email them to be sure, but I’m guessing it would work unless they changed the throttle pedal between the 19 and the 21

It seemed to still lag when you floored it from a stop. It responded better when you were trying to nudge it at speed.
30% increase is the max, not 100% soo yeah....

@@brick4690 Thanks, I appreciate it! As far as DVD, I thought you had to actually have 2nd row DVD player or something. Unless my CD player can magically play DVD if it’s selected? I was kind of confused by that option to be honest but I’ll have to look into it.
@@TonyTheTruckGuy My guess would be that it allows you to by pass the media cpu and play dvd, maybe tazer found out the 5th gen disk reader can play dvd and unlocked it.
Either way, new content WIN WIN!
Sprint booster is made in the USA, pedal commander is made in Turkey.
Everywhere I saw said SB was made in Greece. But I don't really care as long as it works and doesn't fail haha.
Can you review the Hikeit Throttle Controller?
I would if they wanted to send me one 😋 but it wouldn't make much sense for me to purchase one just to review since I already have a pedal controller. Unfortunately I 'm not finding any other videos with anyone that has one on a Ram, but i would check out some other videos, as the results are going to be fairly close. There is one video on the Hike It installed on a Jeep Wrangler and the guy said he was very pleased with it. It almost looks like a pedal commander but has more features. For me, I would be more concerned with reliability, as I have not heard of this controller before you mentioned it.
