The Skoda Octavia is a fun to drive car and can be termed as one of the best offerings in its segment. However, the price of the Skoda Octavia is on the higher side when compared to its rivals like the Hyundai Elantra and Toyota Corolla.

Hello #MotorBeamers, what do you think about the 2017 Skoda Octavia? Will you buy this over the Mercedes CLA or Audi A3?
Better than Audi A3, definitely like this facelift & pricing.
Parth Gohil I don't think that's a panoramic sunroof. it's just a normal sunroof.
CLA and A3 are Rapid and Vento sized cars priced at Superb levels.
When people stretch for almost 30L , spending 7L more for the a3 won't be a stretch but yeah this offers much more space and value but the desirability that comes with owning an Audi is just something that most people cannot resist !

This point about poor service is a bit overstated. As an owner of the current model, I can tell you that service has been top notch and I have only had to spend Rs.7000 so far for servicing the car which is now 2.5 yrs old. That means that in 3 years of its lifetime, this is the amount i would have spent on service. Now compare that with even a Hyundai i10 for service costs. You will be surprised that you would have spent around 20k by the time the car is 3 yrs old - 3 times the amount for a car 3 segments lower! Skoda is making a lot of effort lately to improve service so let's acknowledge that and bring some balance here. I can't vouch for part costs or delays when parts are not available and so on though as I haven't yet faced them. I am however confident that its not going to be as bad as most reviewers here state. They have messed up a lot in the past but seem to be trying hard. let's give them a chance. They make great cars.
Yes agree to your point that they are putting effort to improve. But quoting just 7000 rs..are you stating the labour and not including essential material

which one's suspension is better 1.4 or 2.0? and do it's base variant get leather seat,sunroof,6 airbags, ambient lighting,8" touch screen info?
APTOCALYTE GUY 1.4 and 2.0 have the same suspension. 1.8 has the better one

i am thinking of buying ford EcoSport but because of its looks my father dont like this car he says it's a elephant 🐘 looks car. not like vitara breeza. in EcoSport which engine i prefer 1.0 ecoboost (petrol)😊 or 1.5 litre titanium (petrol). i like to drive fast.

The Octavia sure is the best car in the D-segment but why the hell does it cost so much? Is Skoda a premium brand? Hell, no, stop fooling Indians.
Ever driven one? Will you pay top dollar if a bmw badge is put on a celerio? Did you know that you can totally leave a 320d in the dust with the 1.8 tsi engine, let alone cars in its own segment? Cars are meant to be driven and a badge means nothing when you put your foot down and watch the competition become smaller and smaller in the rear view mirror.
Indian Superman The main company is a premium brand. VW has many subsidiary companies so they try compete within each other. Their spare parts arent cheap
Sorry to break it to you but the 1.8 TSI is not leaving a 320D in the dust. The VRS if and when it comes to India will do those honours but until then please stop spreading bullshit. The Octavia is a brilliant car and is super VFM but you don't have to gas it up too much .
The price corolla Altis 1.8L GL petrol is same as this 1.4L turbo engine.
And yet the 1.4L engine with turbo develops more power than the altis' 1.8L NA. There is no comparison in handling between the two cars either. The 1.8 TSI on the Octi which comes with the multi-link suspension is an entirely different beast.
worst design from Skôda.. already flop in Europe.. overpriced
