Power only can be tedious but it can pay the bills until you can find a trailer to rent/buy. I like your set up btw!

What I've concluded is that PO typically puts more miles on a truck that having your own trailer. For instance, I can run from the Bay to LA and back with less than1k miles around $4k or so.

Ya but 500 miles bobtail is the equivalent of 100 miles loaded with a heavy load.

Going to blow out your airbags if you continue pulling out that fast from a trailer. I suggest you drop your bags and slowly pull out from under the trailer. Good luck be safe out there

Be careful of the trailer overhang. The 53" with tandems all the way up has about 5 ft that pivots upon sharp turns. It's often good too slide them back in tight spaces if you have room.

@@jh-fe1qn most places require tandems all the way to the rear anyways, keeps the front from lift off when the forklift drives on the rear entry.

Eliminates trailer payments, maintenance, liability, insurance, faulty equipment tickets, etc. The numbers work out.

If I have a reefer trailer without a reefer unit, can I load most dry van loads on to a reefer trailer? I heard that dry van pallets side by side are too wide for a reefer trailer. Is that rare? Or is that a majority of dry van loads that won’t fit on a reefer?

It really is up to the shipper. Some products, like paper, cannot get wet and shippers want to avoid condensation. There are a lot of reasons they might specify Dry Van only. But they know they are limiting the available trucks, so when possible they will specify “Reefer/Dry Van” to indicate that both equipment types are acceptable.
