    I think split sleeper is a great option. But they need to add restrictions on companiess and forbid them from knowingly dispatching loads that would require the driver to use the split to make loads on time. It is supposed to be the drivers choice if they want to do the split, but now with the new rules, I see a lot of dispatcing done to make the drivers have to use the split. Drivers also need to stand up to companies that do that and just say no. There has been many times the new split sleeper rules have come in handy when i am tired and need to take a short nap and not worry about running my 14 down. But there have also been times I have had dispatches that can not be done without the split and I told them they can not do that. It is one thing if they plan it to work with a full 10 but something happens and the driver can use the split to make up for the time lost, but loads should not be planned around it.

    I have them on my trucks and I haven't heard a thing from my drivers about there preformance, but most of my guys have 20+ years of experience OTR and I've asked them what they think of them after our first winter we had (2020-21) nobody really said anything bad about them it was more of they wernt used to the way they handled but other than that I was told they would be a big game changer because the guys can "hyper mile" with them some of them are getting 10-12MPG vs 8-9 and they aren't "nice" to them at all, we run cattle and they go places maybe they shouldn't, whilst the others are getting stuck trying to get out of there all my guy's do is flip on the diflock and roll the throttle a little bit.

    If I have a reefer trailer without a reefer unit, can I load most dry van loads on to a reefer trailer? I heard that dry van pallets side by side are too wide for a reefer trailer. Is that rare? Or is that a majority of dry van loads that won’t fit on a reefer?

    • @rollwithrollzi8257
      @rollwithrollzi8257 2 года назад

      It really is up to the shipper. Some products, like paper, cannot get wet and shippers want to avoid condensation. There are a lot of reasons they might specify Dry Van only. But they know they are limiting the available trucks, so when possible they will specify “Reefer/Dry Van” to indicate that both equipment types are acceptable.

    What I've concluded is that PO typically puts more miles on a truck that having your own trailer. For instance, I can run from the Bay to LA and back with less than1k miles around $4k or so.

      Be careful of the trailer overhang. The 53" with tandems all the way up has about 5 ft that pivots upon sharp turns. It's often good too slide them back in tight spaces if you have room.

    • @ceisarsrepair7958
      @ceisarsrepair7958 3 года назад

      @@jh-fe1qn most places require tandems all the way to the rear anyways, keeps the front from lift off when the forklift drives on the rear entry.
