i’ve missed you but i’m back - you are an amazing teacher with so much passion and knowledge for your profession! thank you for all the tips
You are really a great teacher!
You could also use a hairdryer to warm up the vinyl to make it pliable.
Watching from New Zealand
You are the BEST teacher EVER!...WOW
Thank you for sharing your time and your knowledge
Great tips Vanessa! I've made a bunch of these from your tutorial for gifts for family & friends to put their cell phones in at the beach & pool. I use fun variegated thread, jumbo wonder clips to hold the zipper in place when sewing the zipper & a blow dryer to gently heat up the vinyl to make turning it out easier.
I'm lucky my hubby is a certified detailer and put a clear coat on my metal plate and pressure feet that I use vinyl glides right over it
Thank you! I was able to follow along and everything worked out beautifully. Nice teaching style; you explain not only the “how”, but also the “why”. Brava👏
WOW - lots of tips! I ordered the vinyl today, & I am going to have to try your technique! Love the way it looks!
Bummed I missed the live but this was a great little project! Great video Vanessa! 💕
Love you and all your classes
Great tips Vanessa. I love your videos and have been sharing them while I watch. I've made a few of your items and you have very simple to understand instructions. Thank you
Thank you,very helpful
Very cool. Gonna have to make a few of these. Thanks for a great tutorial 👍
Hi. I'm Marica from South Africa. I used the heat from my hairdryer to flip the vinyl bags. Much easier. I like all your projects. God bless 💖 💖
When I sew using vinyl, I will take a little bit of my sewing machine oil and dab it where I am going to sew on the underside and on top, just enough to lube the vinyl so I will have a nice smooth sew and it doesn't get hung up and it lubes my machine.
I am in the club! Love it!
I got an amazing deal on a LOT of 16 gauge vinyl for a project and now have plenty to use for bags. I have zippers from a friend and now have a use for them!
Just love how you teach!!!
Thanks sew much!
I bought your 16ga vinyl and used it to make a pouch form another site. It came out very nice. Some of my stitches are a little funky because its my 1st time using vinyl and I forgot to change out my presser foot (used my walking foot). I love it!!
I love your teachings. Do you have a tutorial on making a faux leather clear view phone crossbody?
Love your show! I used a dollar tree placemat next to presserfoot. To make the acrylic feed better.
I’m at work so can’t watch live, but THANK YOU for this tutorial! Can’t wait to watch after work!!!! I have been putting off a project because it called for clear vinyl. 😱🤗💗
Try using your sewing machine oil on the vinyl just a dab front and back and it works amazing.
Thanks!
Hi! I just read the article in Quilt Folk. Looking foward to watching your videos
Dottie from Tyler Texas love all the videos
Bren Ellison, Valrico , Florida. Love you and all your classes
Walmart clear heavy duty shower curtain works great!
You could use the wash away interfacing that you use for embroidery machines to make lace instead of tissue paper and it will wash away.
Fabulist, i needed to know how to take the rinkels out …..👍🏻 supper i don’t get that vinyl that is wrapped in tissue paper . Have to buy the table vinyl ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I have always used strips of fabric on the vinyl to go through the sewing machine.
Greetings from Ireland
Hi from SC
Hi, From Chipley, Florida
You could sew it with the zipper tape on top, or like done here it with the zipper tab on the underside.
Lancaster, PA here
RUclips from Mississippi 👋🏽
You could use Solvy which dissolves in water
What about a blow dryer on low setting , blow it for a few seconds into the bag and use a corner finisher like quilters have? Gentle and low on use and settings.... Great job!!
Are you still doing the classes in Gainesville? I live 20 minutes from Gainesville and would love to attend your classes.
Hello, MO here
from new Hampshire
Is there any reason you can’t put the raw edges of the vinyl on the “wrong” side of the zipper, so all raw edges are on the inside?
Very nice video. Just one question, what is the size of the needle you use ?

Could you open the zipper before sewing the first side down?
Absolutely! Whatever makes it easier for you. :)
Semmes Alabama
Won't the needle break if you stich on the zipper?
Not is the zipper is a craft zipper with plastic teeth.

Have you ever tried using invisible thread with clear vinyl?
Facebook page
i absolutely hate the look of a zigzag stitch, a straight stitch looks so much better ... ya never see a zigzag stitch on a ready to wear garment or bag
