Yep...not original to me but it works well for making mortises (and tenons if they are big like these where you can control the workpiece properly). Thanks for watching! 👍🏻
Nice work! Love the jigs on squaring things up and getting the legs into the top. Really enjoyed watching that. Quick question, if U dont mind, but is that a straight BLO you finished it all it, and nothing else? So is this an interior piece ? I’m looking at vids for diff finishes and clear coating ideas and usually woodworkers have diff approaches to their finishes. Sometimes I run into cool vids and end up watching the whole thing. Lol. Thx for time!
Thanks for watching and the compliments. Yes it is just straight BLO finish. I actually sold this bench because I didn’t really have a good place for it so I’m not sure if it’s being kept indoors or out. I have a planter box that I finished the same way and it is outdoors now so I’m interested to see how it holds up. I do know that I used spar urethane on my mailbox post (also a video on my channel) and the weather has taken a serious toll on it so I’m probably going to sand it down and use straight BLO and see how that goes. I’m pretty new to finishes and such so your guess is as good as mine really. 🙂. I think The Wood Whisperer has some good videos on different finishes out there.
I think I just answered an email from you too maybe? I think the mortises were a couple inches but I don’t remember exactly. Most stuff I build I just sort of “wing it” as I go so I don’t have all the measurements written down…lol. Thanks for watching.
