Pretty sure he gave up, maybe trying the CFL or indoor league could have kept him fed, but the NFL is like the fractal of greatness divided by almost infinity. It's that bad, think 350 million divide that by half first to get males then by the age range, then by profession, then by talent, then by desire to overcome adversity which he showed 0 ability to do once he hit the top end which was college. It's ok i hit mine in high school, was not even able to play college ball let alone get free education to do so. That's my issue is that ppl start thinking they are owed success instead of continue to work for it.

This is an interesting note I didn't mention in the video. Darrell Scott was compared to LT mostly due to being in Southern California and it was playing to the media market there since LT was in San Diego. Scott said himself, along with scouts, he compared more to Adrian Peterson.
Also, He decided after 5 games his sophomore year that he wanted to leave, not after the season.
And Reggie Bush actually had around 50 touchdowns... not 100. Forgive me... Anyways, Enjoy.

Derek Jones I don't. He's far more accurate than Manziel & he appears to be more interested in succeeding at football than just being a celebrity like Manziel was. Sure, he walks that fine line between confidence & arrogance, but QBs have to walk that line. That being said, Mayfield doesn't seem like he'd be a fit for the Browns. I think they need a stronger arm QB in that weather. I think Mayfield needs to end up either in Denver or with a dome team.

My takeaway from this story is that his family totally screwed him by both meddling directly and by feeding his obviously massive ego. 1st mistake was transferring in HS, that’s all on the parents. 2nd mistake was going to Colorado at all. What a joke, I would know I went there too. That was also because of family ties. 3rd mistake, not acting respectfully at Colorado, which is all ego. 4th mistake, transferring in college, probably a combination of family pressure and ego. 5th mistake, entering the draft early. Probably also ego mixed with family whispering in his ear. If he had just stayed at his normal school, committed to a decent program for college the first time around, like
USC, and played his 4/5 years with humility, I bet he would have been drafted. His failure was a full family effort.

No, the biggest mistake is the comparisons and labels put on these kids BEFORE they are allowed to mature both mentally and physically. A lot of high school football players switch positions when they get to college because they are still filling out and their body can change. So many athletic defensive tackles in college were former running backs or tight ends in high school. Quarterbacks become receivers and safetys.

Hey KTO, great vid! You should do one on Keenan Reynolds, one of the best QB’s to come out of Navy, and he just so happens to have the most rushing TD’s by any QB and TD’s rushing and receiving by any college player. He also finished 5th in the heisman race his senior year

KTO--I've watched a couple of your RUclips videos and I've got to admit you have some of the best videos in all of sports. The way you pull the highlights and use your voice over the highlights--it's honestly better than anything you would get off of ESPN. It's right up there with the work of "A Football Life"--which I think NFL Network does great work. Your stuff is really good, though. I loved your video of Ronald Curry and as a Virginia fan--that was a really cool video to watch--kind of painful at the same time. I still think if he would've come to Virginia he would've had much better quarterback coaches and his football career would have been different. He was truly--one of the best high school athletes of my lifetime. Great work, man. Keep up the good work!

I read a book called outlier, it's crazy how hard it is to be an all time great at anything. Take 10,000 hrs to be master level at your craft whatever that is, takes innate ability to be good enough to begin with to start out on any path, the maturity to stick with things despite adversity and the still uncomfortable "luck" he even broke it down to how birthday/ month plays into luck etc. Likability plays into coaching wanting to give you the extra time it takes etc. Sounds like long book but it was actually quick read lol.

As for Scott... well.. as it seems with many of these kids.. they are given false hope.. egos pumped up by families and local HS coaches...and simply lead to believe they are better than they really are. They show up to these big schools with a chip on their shoulder and almost tell the coaches how they will fit into and play in the coach's system, and fail. Again... big ego = imminent failure.
