- On this episode of making my house a home ... It gets dirty & I pull up a 15 years old carpet ...Still waiting for the final approval to start NACA's Rehab so Im focusing on doing what I can to begin to get this house in better condition...Doesn't feel right doing nothing and waiting for them to begin... Even the smallest changes and improvements I've made are making a difference...

I have always had in my mind that I didn’t want a house that I had to put work into and would rather have a new build. But seeing this makes me rethink that.

Pro tip: Use a utility knife to cut the carpet and pad into manageable strips then roll them up. It'll make removing carpet much more easier. Great job! I love this stuff.
Makes it so much easier. Sliced it into manageable pieces. I use a long handled roof scraper to get nails and the tack strips up
This makes me feel better. I just moved in to my first house and it was a rental years back for a person who never let their dog outside. The bedroom carpets are seriously gross. Pet stains s EVERYWHERE. For some reason, they don't smell...which makes me wonder if they've seriously been there so long that the smell went away. I've never torn out carpets before, but you definitely make it look manageable!

If you can afford take up the tiles and put down some lament floors throughout the house. It last long and all you have to do to clean them is damp cloth or swifter no excess water and you are good. You are doing a great job

We’re removing some nasty old carpet and linoleum today and when I took the linoleum off, a waft of mold stench came my way. Needless to say we need to get that fixed before the floor guys come

If your smoke detector is chirping it more than likely need the battery 🔋 replaced. If so, a new one will not be required unless you're going for a new look.

After removing that 15 year old carpet that hadn't been deep cleaned you should get a better air quality or freshness inside. Also, open your windows while you're there cleaning. Hopefully you saved some money by going with GEICO, oops I mean, removing the carpet yourself.
