  • Unit cards in WARNO or any Eugen game have a lot of info and for new players it can be a lot to take in. So today I am going to run through a card, talk about weapons in a bit more detail.
    Make use of the War-Yes Website (www.war-yes.com) for more advanced details.
    And finally talk about armour penetration damage calculations.
    Yes its a LONG video....

    Thank you so much for featuring WarYes in this video, it's really great to see it being used in useful settings! It was the vision all along, present more data in a digestible way

      It's really handy to see the extra info in that format. Because lets be honesty the in game cards are lacking.
      Out of interest presuming they exist in the code, any possibility of adding "special forces" speed increases in the future for infantry?

    @Bandanner
    Thanks so much for this in depth guide!
    Ive been playing Warno since launch and never quite understood the mechanics of the damage system. I am a former US Marine officer so u just relied on tactics and the base pen and HE numbers as a general guide for effectiveness. I love spending time building out different task orgs for US Divisions because i generally understand their capabilities and limitations from my military studies but when it comes to other countries it became more difficult.
    This is especially true with the Panzer Divisions gicen the plethora of options for tanks and IFV variants.

    The true rates of fire still seem way off even on the WarYes site. How does a machine gun have a true rate of fire of only 25? The ones mounted on vehicles had a fire rate of 482, which seems much more in line with what you'd expect. Why is it so low for infantry MGs?

      So the calculation is correct I believe. Its been a thing in all Eugens games. They just don't display it and the variables are in the the game files. This is from Nalyd: Calculation for the Rate of fire
      Above the one displayed in game, below the number of dice roll per minute.
      In red, variables you can't get except going into the mod files, (ammo per salvo you can get from ingame testing but good luck with that).
      Ex : Bradley autocanon Bushmaster
      Ammo per salvo : 10
      Salvo lenght : 5
      Time between shots : 0.4s
      Reload : 2.4s
      (10/((5-1)0.4+2.4))60 = 150 RoF in game card stat
      (5/((5-1)0.4+2.4))60 = 75 True RoF
      There is a picture to go with that but I can't post it here. It's on the waryes discord though.

      @@Bandanner I've just done a bit of testing and it seems like infantry weapons behave a bit differently to ones on vehicles, and I think it has to do with how attacks are animated and how ammo is calculated. In my quick test, when an M249 fired it consumed 10 rounds of ammo and showed an attack animation that didn't line up with this number. It's as if the entire burst is one single attack, drawn out to look like a false salvo. So instead of having fired 10 rounds, you instead have effectively made one single attack that cost 10 rounds of ammo.
      The M249 makes one of these attacks approximately every 2 seconds, consuming 10 rounds each time. Each one only counts as a single attack though. That would put the in-game fire rate at 25-30 attacks per minute, while keeping the represented fire rate at 250-300. Also, 8 dudes all firing short bursts from M16s only consume 3 rounds of ammo total, so a similar thing going on here. For comparison, vehicles have the same granular system but with smaller "grains". An M2 on an M60 TTS fires 8 audible shots in a single burst, but consumes 20 rounds of ammo and only creates 5 impact effects (5 actual attacks).
      TL:DR - It looks like WARNO uses granular attacks for automatic weapons. The MG disparity seems to be an artefact of this.

      @@thomasp506 yeah so basically fits with Nalyds calculations taken from the ingame files.
      And you are crazy for trying to count it all in game :P
      I think the main point is the damage is done based on the "true fire rate".

    How’s about tips and tricks on how to micro?

    • @Bandanner
      @Bandanner  Год назад

      Hmmm not sure how to go about that I will have a think. Micro is more of a skill thing, other than making suggestions like press b for smoke. Its something some people are just better at than others, practice helps obviously.

    How does range factor into Armour Penetration calculations? Does the AP value increase as range shortens or does the AV value decrease?

    • @Bandanner
      @Bandanner  Год назад

      AP Increases every 175m it gets closer to its target, I am sure I said that in there somewhere ;)

    • @whitephosphorus15
      @whitephosphorus15 Год назад

      @@Bandanner Do you know why the stat card description says the opposite? The stat card says the penetration value for AP is at close range and decreases at longer range.

    • @Bandanner
      @Bandanner  Год назад

      @@whitephosphorus15 i am confused by your question, but I shall try to explain what I think you are asking.
      AP increases by 1 every 175m a KE weapon gets closer to its target. As I explained in the video.
      The information on the stat cards is incorrect in several places as it seems to be left over from SD2 and has not been correctly adjusted.
