  • Today I have a video covering some of the basics of WARNO to help out newer players who have not played a Eugen game before, or those coming back after not playing for many years.
    I would stress this is not an exhaustive list and does not go into great amount of details in each area, that will be something for future guides.
    This will be the start of hopefully a longer WARNO Tutorial series.

      Really glad its helpful. My intention is to make more videos yes, as I did for Wargame Red Dragon.
      I am just being cautious as they are still altering some of the fundamentals of the game thus I am reluctant to cover certain things until they are finalised. :)

      @@Bandanner - I saw something elsewhere that advised beginners to upvet all Infantry, so there would be less units to worry about, and presumably they would last longer. I think I'd just run out sooner.

    • @Bandanner
      @Bandanner  2 года назад

      @@Ravensview infantry in WARNO is much more squishy than WRD, I would honestly consider that bad advice. Unless there is some secret stat I am missing.
      Upvetting infantry does not make them last longer. It improves accuracy, rate of fire and improves their cohesion (so take longer to panic etc). So there are advantages but because they feel so squishy, they will still die just as quickly to incoming fire.
      You need to be able to reinforce losses. I tend to take a mix of trained and mostly veteran level. And if you are that fussy about having them elite keep a commander near them is my advice.

      @@Bandanner It really helped me. I just let them on counter battery, and move them after they shot some salvos. Dont need to be looking for the enemy art to fire. Helps a lot because you do not need to take your attention from the front lines or your side of the map.

    • @Bandanner
      @Bandanner  2 года назад +2

      Thanks.
      Just to clarify it's the optics radius of the unit, so the ranges it can see units.
      And when you enable the los tool there should be a window at the bottom right with tick boxes. Left side is open field, the right side is forest.

    Ive had a mighty long rest from cold-war, war-games. So long computer versions didnt even exist. It was all physical maps and counters and dice when I learned it lol. I got regiments the other day. Nice graphics in the units and 'splosions. Warno seems to have a wee bit more depth but the graphics look. I dunno, a bit arcadey. Swings and roundabouts eh? Cheers for the rundown. Might get this one too now I finally built myself a PC. I know I know, Im a bit late to the party.

      They are about to do some major changes to the gameplay in the new year, so it might play a bit differently to my current videos.

      Regiments was a lot of fun. Surprised by your graphics comments though - I think warno clearly has higher fidelity. Regiments being the more cartoony one. Swings and roundabouts I suppose.

    Just a couple things I've seen, Please don't use starting points on arty, the initial phase of a match is all about positioning and snagging valuable real estate. Arty in general seems pretty weak at the moment and personally seems like a like logistics trap. 2nd play the objectives, pushing flanks is cool but a lot of the maps are really just about rushing mid. Just my 2 cents.

    • @grahamhawes7089
      @grahamhawes7089 2 года назад +2

      Yeah, arty feels totally limp compared to SD2. I've spent entire 10v10 matches hammering units with MLRS groups and had three kills at the end of the game.

    • @terminus.est.
      @terminus.est. 2 года назад +2

      You'd be surprised how strong massed tube arty is, it can certainly do significant damage. But I agree that you should limit how much arty you bring at the start, but you can bring 2 tube SPGs for the price of a single 80U or HA. They are enough to eradicate Inf and IFVs with impunity. Just like everything else, its a balancing act.

    • @GenJoseGhost
      @GenJoseGhost 2 года назад +1

      Arty can be really powerfull when massed. I agree that expensive arty in the beggining is not the best, but mortars are essential since they can smoke and they can do a lot of damage to infantary and softer targets.

    • @ottEST
      @ottEST 2 года назад

      @@terminus.est. That is quite realistic. Single arty unit is rarely of much use but massed arty is devastating. :)

      Every battlegroup in Warno plays the same way as the US armor and Gotz von B in SDII. Warno has no super heavy tanks. Most tanks can be killed by most things, recon is more important as firing does not reveal a position as often as in steel division.
