a 12 and a half minute entirely improvised full song that you'd swear was written and arranged by the gods and passed down to the band way beforehand if you didnt know better, right into the most hilarious and punk Weezer cover i'm likely to hear in my life... im convinced this may be the greatest band of all time

ive seen people say isaac was "pushed" to be the frontman of the band after the breakup of nervous conditions and whenever i read that i just think about this performance.. man wasnt pushed, he is fucking gifted, and even if he was, he fucking kills it

where have they said this? yeah crazy impressive especially as i think this is better than what's on the album anyway
@@kvackkvackfrisk In an interview, Isaac said that sometimes the band would do some improv in the middle of a show and that this was one of those times but they inadvertently ended up making an entire song. It's also why the song is called Haldern, due to its birth at Haldern Pop Festival

the cocnept of like lewis evans coming up with that line off the bat, like exactly how it is on the album, its almost like that melody had the whole song coded in it and after that it was like found. or no actually, its more like idk, after they heard that melody they were like inspired to commit to it and work it out after that. i love how they teter aroudn the really clear two stroke beat and hten the space for the other thigns to happen. like they teeter around it. and hten it like just, idk, its like when they get certain things right its easier for others to get right. but when htey come upon the rythmn after teetering aroudn it for so long its just the most insane thign. like in a matter of minutes his phrase , its so thought up, like yo ucan see them emotionally dealing with this power htey jsut fuckign invented randomly like that

Every time I watch this I have to wonder if they were planning on playing Say It Ain't So, because that transition was way too smooth and it didn't seem like anybody was ready for it except for Isaac
It's crazy cos I just noticed the same thing right before I saw this comment. At 20:53 you can see Isaac playing the chords for Say It Ain't So before the improv jam even ends, and at 21:02 you can see the girls start smiling once they realise what he's doing.
Pretty sure it wasn't planned which makes it even cooler

I just discovered BCNR yesterday and I love both sides of them, the heavy angry punk, and this new absolutely beautiful orchestrated song. God I really hope they do more longer form stuff like this, they excel at developing their ideas way better than most bands. They're the same age as me and I wish I could find people like this to make music with.

if i had to introduce anyone to bcnr id show them performance, i feel like it shows how great the band’s music and the different genres of music they can make - theres more aggressive athens france and sunglasses and the more somber, orchestral haldern . and the fact they improvised haldern here shows how insanely talented they are . also the random say it aint so cover shows how the band dont take themselves too seriously and are really just a group of friends 😭

yea they are inspired by slint but so are another 100 million bands. slint was just that important in the long run, you can still hear it to this day in rock music

The only thing I don’t like about this live is the dust behind the violin’s strings, looks much better in real life, cleaner. Probably the lighting or the camera, idk but it doesn’t have that ”je ne sais qoui”

if this band was born in iceland everyone would say it's a masterpiece. For me they are a good band, original sounds and interesting lyrics, their record debut is great.
I can hear the "toe" influence on the jam session around the middle of the video. Seems like they've got their hands on the math rock scene, as well.

I've seen probably a boss tuner, some behringer, one ehx, a big orange box and others two.
Big orange box looks like a t-rex mudhoney 1. Behringer likely a sf300 fuzz or cl9 compressor given their colour and are at the start of his signal chain. Could be wrong.
His signal chain is Behringer SF300 > Boss TU-3 > T Rex Engineering Mudhoney > EHX Hot Tubes Nano > ??? > Xvive V21 Echoman. Don't know what ??? is, probably some sort of modulation or reverb.

lol i know right... exact copy of a bit in breadcrumb trail - the guardian just wrote an article about these guys as if they're flaming new shit. i love this music but it's been done dozens of times by underground artists, its just that music being " cool" is about time and place, you get a few gigs at the moth club and have an microbrewery name an IPA after you and suddenly you're the next big thing. love what im hearing but as someone said in the 90ies the kids will eat it up if it's packaged properly
