- In this video tutorial we will show you how to upgrade Windows 7 from 32 bit to 64 bit.
Follow this step by step guide to learn how upgrade Windows to a newer version; from 32 bit to 64 bit.
If the idea of a 32 bit vs a 64 bit windows 7 operating system is coming to your mind, and you're thinking of upgrading it, you can follow this particular step by step tutorial.
To upgrade from 32bit to 64 bit in windows 7, you need the required hardware such as a 64bit processor etc. Furthermore, upgrading your windows from 32 bit to 64 bit will wipe out all your data and the applications. So, it is recommended that you backup all your data before you proceed.
Step 1 -- Select the windows setup option
Over there, you can see that we are currently running a 32 bit Operating system.
Let's insert in the 64bit windows installation disk in the DVD rom and restart the computer.
Before booting the windows, it will prompt you to press any key to boot from cd or DVD.
With that done, the windows boot manager will open up. Over there, we will select the windows setup option and proceed with the process.
Step 2 -- Set basic settings for Windows installation
Next, the Install Windows screen will be appear on the screen. Over there, you can select the language, time and currency format & the keyboard and input method. Let's keep the default settings as it is for now and click on Next to move on with the process.
Step 3 -- Install now button
In the next window, simply click on the Install Now button to start with the process.
Step 4 -- Agree to the license terms
Next, you would be required to agree to the license terms and agreements before moving on with the process.
Step 5 -- Choose the upgrade option
Now you would be asked for the type of installation you want. Since we are upgrading from a 32 bit operating system to a 64 bit, simply click on the Upgrade option over here.
Step 6 -- Choose partition where you want to install Windows
As a result, the installation process will start. Simply select the same partition where the previous Windows was installed. Once you are done, the installation process is pretty much automatic.
Step 7 -- Update registry settings
Once the operating system restarts, you will notice that the setup is updating the registry settings. This means that it will upgrade the previous windows to a 64 bit registry setting.
Step 8 -- Successfully upgraded
With the installation complete, let's open up the computer properties and over there you will notice that the operating system has being displayed if of 64 bit.
And that's basically how you can upgrade from 32bit to 64 bit in windows 7.

I tried Upgrading my window 7 32bit into 64bit. I insert my bootable usb with window 7 installer on it without restarting the system or choosing a boot priority, then by manually clicking the the window 7 setup I manage to upgrade my 32bit OS into 64bit :D

@@oooshafiqooo Nothing really change except for the architecture of the system itself from 32bit to 64bit. Some application or program required 64bit arch os that's why I upgrade my 32bit into 64bit.

It's important to note that you have to restart the computer if you don't type the right key (F12, spacebar, etc) before it loads Windows.
(If you're fast, you can press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and the computer will restart without loading windows). Ctrl+Alt+Delete restarts the computer as long as you're not inside Windows (else it will bring up the menu with Taskmanager in Windows).

That's not an "update" that's just a whole new install.

but it'll also remove the registered registries, so even if u installed important stuff (program, games, etc) on data D, you'll have to reinstall most of the programs, like Adobe stuff, but some games doesn't require registered registry to be able to play.

The following issues are preventing Windows from upgrading. Cancel the upgrade, complete each task, and then restart the upgrade to continue.
Your current version of Windows is more recent than the version you are trying to upgrade to. Windows cannot complete the upgrade.
32-bit Windows cannot be upgraded to a 64-bit version of Windows. To upgrade, obtain a 32-bit version of the Windows installation disc.

You may have another issue with your computer such as a failing hard drive. By "stocks" I assume you mean "stops".

It keeps asking to load the drivers or browse for them. I have no idea where the drivers are located. In where in the old 32 directory?

It said that I have to upgrade with serive pack 1 installed. In case, I have installed the service pack 1 and it's written in the informationj box about my windows, so I'm sure that I have installed service pack 1. So why I can't upgrade it?

I don't think so, but you can search online. Since you have to actually restart the computer and wipe it all out it will be imposible to use daemon tools or whatever. What you can do is burn a DVD with the setup and then do exacly as the video says

You may have some other part of your computer hardware that does not support 64-bit. Like Graphics Card etc ... Check them out one by one in the internet.

well ive had a 64bit CD ( original ) with this one and it worked before. but my pc was badly damaged and reintallsed 32 bit on it and now when i try to install 64 bit it says its a illegal version of windows even though the cd came with the case from the store and worked before.

+MrLeSa95 Yes and no. If you really don't want to lose your data and you have enough space, create a second partition and move your important data to that partition before formating the first one. I don't think that is how it works lol.
A product key only changes the current version of windows that you have. If you have home premium you can only go to professional and ultimate. You cant change the version using a product key.

Are Wan It should be an ISO file, you have to burn it to a CD/DVD and insert in comp and run. There are other ways, you can google "how to open/run ISO file"
