As someone who analysed this play for the past 4 months and got top grades in both my assessments, this is painfully accurate.

Fun fact: Shakespeare's acting troupe didn't actually use complete scripts. Everyone was just given their cues and individual lines. And they rehearsed like once. So in a way, this is a return to form.

I say this unironically- Shakespeare would be hella proud to see his work performed this way. Keep in mind, the next thing he wrote A Midsummer Night's Dream, literally made fun of Romeo and Juliet.
Boi.
Shakespeare would roll out of his grave, walk into the theater,
and get a great laugh out of it!
Seriously! He didn't focus on making sure the plays he wrote were attributed to him because the money was in getting people into your theater to watch and enjoy the show, not proving that you own a thing.
As long as your play or version of a play gets people inside and enjoying it, it's good.
Mid summer nights dream is so hilarious to play in im in my local theater and I’m playing puck hes a joy to make fun of

I've never even come close to reading Romeo and Juliet so to me this is completely canon, "I did a little too much trolling" is my favorite quote, Shakespeare is a real genius
I’m currently reading it. And I now understand what’s going on… kinda
And the worst part is that Friar Lawrence is the one actively pushing the really silly plot come the later acts, given Romeo and Juliet’s desperation, so he really could have been considered to have done “too much trolling” towards both the Montague and Capulet families.
Never have read it and never plan to read it.
(Screw you highschool)
he was ahead of his time
We’re reading this in high school, because of course we are. Everyone was so shocked to see Mercutio died too, and that Juliet was alive, and I was just sitting there sipping from my water bottle like “You uncultured fools have NEVER watched Alpharad.”
Even my teacher watched this lmao
Using Hamlet "to be or not to be" quote freaking killed me. The only thing that was quoted correctly wasn't even from Romeo & Juliet
I mean, Lord Capulet did kinda get the first line.
Omg, imagine full-on Broadway shows done in this "we hired all the actors yesterday and wrote the entire script on a napkin they had to share" style, bahahaha!
