When I first saw gameplay of it, this was the ending I first found and I like it by the fact that it shows how connor wheither he is a machine or alive (in this case more of machine) will go to excessive messures to get his mission completed successfully. Which he may or may not improve his morality from each experience to become closer to being alive.
@@EfficientTrout I actually got ending 1 when I played the demo. I had the gun on me, but it was mostly as a backup. "Better to have it and not need it, then need it and not have it".
@@EfficientTrout Why would it be what "most people" got? The only way to get to that point is either do some risky things or have some wrong priorities. I think ending 1 is the most common.
I see a lot of people overlooking ending 4. To me, it's one of the coolest. "Mission successful" as he lies there, bleeding, locked into position... Chilly.
I love endings 3 and 4. They show perfectly how inhumane Connor is. He knows he is replacable and takes full advantage of that. We humans value our lives, we are afraid of dying. Daniel was sentient and so he didn't want his life to end, but Connor is a machine - fear doesn't hold him back, he does not hesitate. If accomplishing his mission requires him to jump off the rooftop, so be it, he will be back the next day. Endings 1 and 6 are badass, but 3 and 4 present even higher level of badassery. Connor makes a point there: "even death won't stop me from accomplishing my mission"
I think 4 is more sad bc Connor gets shot and it looks like no one cares b CNN he is a machine while in three I feel that one is awesome and almost feels like Connor found peace when he closed his eyes
It's a plausible way to go about, but the software instability mechanic is there to punish you for not caring about your wellbeing. Everytime you die/take damage your software instability increases. However I can't say how that affects the story later.
From a writing perspective, this game is good overall, but also pretty inconsistent. But this opening scene is honestly perfect. It gives you all the information you need to know about Connor, as well as the tension between humans and androids. Personally, I think the best end is Daniel being shot by the snipers after letting Emma go. Despite Connor's betrayal, he shows no remorse at betraying his own kind; his job was only to save the little girl. Mission successful. It's also worth noting that there is no way to save Daniel, which only reinforces the prejudice against androids, even from Connor's point of view. From a gameplay perspective, since it's the opening to the game, it's fairly easy to succeed at saving Emma (you almost have to try to fail), whereas later scenes can be much harder to get right. A lot of scenes in this game have clunky writing or give awkward exposition, but this particular scene, regardless of the outcome, is memorable and provides a very good introduction to the world. It's always been one of my favorites. I can tell a lot of thought went into it so credit where credit is due.
