I went the boat route and I got Luther and Kara killed. I was too generous to give the couple their ticket back and I thought, 'what could go wrong when going across the river?' But getting Luther and Kara killed was what went wrong and I thought I left Alice on her own but thankfully someone came to save her.
Kara and Markus' Story didn't really get me emotional and I didn't form any attachment to them since deviated so early in the game. Connor and Hank's Story is what hit me because we actually see Connor form a father+son relationship with Hank and he slowly deviates as it progresses. They're all well written, but Connor's story, in my opinion, is the best.

Clancy Brown is excellent in everything he does. His performance really gives so much humanity to Hank. How he sounds cold and sullen at times yet you can still sense a softness in him somewhere.
Bryan Dechart admitted that the reason why he and Clancy worked so well is because they played off each other and made ideas up together, which is basically giving a giant middle finger to Cage's nitpicky directing style. The results speak volumes on which storyline was the best one.

He looks like he feels bad when hank mentions what he was doing at the bar. i think “becoming deviant” isn’t them gaining emotions, it’s them realizing they already *have* them, along with realizing the other stuff (they’re alive, they don’t have to follow instructions, etc).

Cage was so concerned about proving he wasnt racist/sexist that he made a game to prove it. And the one plotline where he completely ignores the shitty, terribly put together and problematic race allegory and just tells a good cop drama with a side of identity issues, it's the best damn story in the game with the best characters. It wouldn't have happened this way without Clancy though.

yeah honestly, im not entirely sure what it is, be it the writing the acting or a combination, but kara and markus just felt kind of rigid. they were kind of boring. just felt like typical hollywood characters. connors more interesting, because his story has more stakes (in the sense that his deviancy is not as easy as the others) and it takes its time with his deviancy. gives you more time to really understand and get a feel of his character. bryan did a really good job with his subtle body language. it makes him feel so much more human.

Just realized that Connor only know so much about Cole because he is a deviant. Not only the name, but he went and dig up the entire story just because he cares. Which is no way a normal Conner will do since it is not at all related to the mission, and it is purely a humanistic feature.

Right? Man hates it when Connor dies, treats him like a friend while also treating him like a son. Kinda reminds me a little of Joel and Ellie's relationship. Man's watching Connor grow as he slowly becomes a deviant and even indirectly/ directly shapes Connor. Man didn't get to spend much time with Cole but in a way got to see it in Connor, which makes sense. Connor said it best, he was designed to integrate with people.

I've always seen this relationship as father-son, for some reason Connor always reminds me of Cole but from another timeline. Which is why it makes me feel a bit uhh that the DBH fandom that I got to know (in 2018-2019) almost all were fans of Connor X Hank. Just realized that Connor only know so much about Cole because he is a deviant. Not only the name, but he went and dig up the entire story just because he cares. Which is no way a normal Conner will do since it is not at all related to the mission, and it is purely a humanistic feature.

Right? Man hates it when Connor dies, treats him like a friend while also treating him like a son. Kinda reminds me a little of Joel and Ellie's relationship. Man's watching Connor grow as he slowly becomes a deviant and even indirectly/ directly shapes Connor. Man didn't get to spend much time with Cole but in a way got to see it in Connor, which makes sense. Connor said it best, he was designed to integrate with people.
Connor showed empathy, which the fake Connor wouldn't have been able to show cuz he was a fresh android, despite him downloading his memory. The writing shines throughout the entirety of this video and this video alone.

I've always seen this relationship as father-son, for some reason Connor always reminds me of Cole but from another timeline. Which is why it makes me feel a bit uhh that the DBH fandom that I got to know (in 2018-2019) almost all were fans of Connor X Hank.
