- Work is underway to redevelop one of Asia’s largest slums, Mumbai's Dharavi, which is home to about a million residents as well as thriving industries like leather and textiles. The project will unlock much-needed land and help to modernise India’s financial capital, but many residents are concerned about its potential impact on their lives and livelihoods. CNA’s Rebecca Bundhun reports.

It's always how "India has doing a great new project and how that's worrisome". Meanwhile it's always "China does grand opening of xyz. China has removed all slums" They won't send Rebecca Bundhun to beijing to ask poor people on a mike how they got trampled by the govt that doesn't have to worry about getting votes ever. You won't see them cover that story. mainly because ccp will never give them a journalistic visa to do that, and second that's not the singapore govt policy to publish negative news stories on China and CNA has to toe the party line. but the singapore govt policy when it comes to India is it's free for all. Try to find a problem with even the best of positive stories.

They'll miss talking about slums in every india story so they're trying to squeeze out as many stories as possible. Unlike china, India is a democrary and cannot afford to anger a million voters. The implementation details are being worked out and they'll get housing. but CNA will never present it as a good thing.

I don't get why Indian government stops and listens to people's concerns when starting with development. No Chinese official ever cared about people's livelihoods so India should start doing the same. Maybe even evict those because what indian government does is not even that harsh compared to chinese government.
