My stampede is my best friend. I remember asking my mom to buy it for my birthday. I was turning 12. 10 years later, gear box pops on me. The next week, I beef up the box, shove a lipo, and merely made it elite status. Now, that sucker beats the rapidstrike. I love my stampede.

Got one of these second hand for 35 bucks, with all the stuff plus 50 darts. Keep in mind, this is in Sweden, where a modulus can cost 80 bucks in retail stores.

Colter Newkirk Electrical tape on the flywheels. Not pretty but it works. Just one or two thin layers.

I don't entirely get why more motorized springers like the Stampede didn't get made, or why it isn't more popular among the modding community. Seriously, upgrade it enough and it has the RoF/ease-of-use advantage of a flywheel, without the rev-up time and added noise.

Aarnts Rocks I mean, rev-up time can be made negligible with even a modest voltage increase, like the 3 Ultrafire batteries I use in my Stryfe, but no time at all is even better. My only two gripes with the Stampede are 1) its usage of 6 D-batteries in stock form making it heavy and poorly-balanced (which, again, can be fixed, and to be fair the same goes for the Rapidstrike, Zeus and now the Nemesis) and 2) poor ergonomics on the stock makes carrying the thing a little more difficult than it needs to be.
Gears. The answer is gears.
I love revisiting Tag Back, and now with the possible return of the Stampede I can learn all about it here!

I disagree, Rapid Strike dose have a big advantage in rate of fire and easy mod ability. But, their just not as satisfying to shoot. The plunger and gearing action of the Stampede is harder to tune-in but it feels so much better to fire. You just don't get that "chunk chunk chunk" out of the RS. And the roar of the fly wheels cant compare to the electrical wine of the plunger system being brought around and a round. Yea it may be out dated now, but when in full mod mode, it just feels so much better to roll with. And in the long run, don't we all jus want to feel like bad asses.

To everybody talking about the fabled 50 round drum, i'm from the far future of 2019 with good news!
A new nerf N-Strike elite blaster, the Titan CS-50, is coming out soon this year. It looks basically like a minigun (sadly only one barrel) and it's shipped with a 50-round drum that works in any nerf gun.

Gotta love these things. If you can source some aluminum gears, you can pump this thing up to something awesome. Personally I think these are better for 1v1 altercations against some Rapidstrikes that need time to rev up.

I found 100 darts, 2 Mavericks and a stampede for 12$ at a thrift store many years ago, I bought it and became the most powerful asset to my friends in a nerf war. It was a great deal.
From a purely fun, tactile (as apposed to tactical) angle, its my second favorite blaster behind the Centurion. Load a fresh set of D cells into it (or a pair of 5.4v battery packs with a resister in my case) and its just fun to spray foam around with. It feels more fun to use then the Rapidstrike, even though the RS really is in every way better (and WAY less jam prone).

The gun it was bundled with is sadly questionable
from varios leaked pics, you can see different angles of the 50 round drum. it is very possible to make your own if you have the patience.
someone should sell a metal gear kit for the stampede, make this awesome powerhouse, make it more of a reliable workhorse than a weekend toy.

+Lucca Smith Yea, it's super expensive to replace the gears. I personally love the stampede, so I was willing to pay the $95 bucks it took to use my college's cnc machine to remake them.
It'd be nice if some one with the machinery and skill could make them at an affordable price. I just don't think it'll happen because people would rather just mod a RS. And I can't blame them either cause a mini RS is so op.
Lucca Smith They're still available, though its 60-90 bucks to get the three gears you need to replace (The fourth gear rarely has issues so nobody has made a metal replacement available). Granted you get far better performance out of a modded Stampede then a Rapidstrike, in the end you really have to pay for it. On the bright side, less darts getting chewed up by flywheels.

a maxed out 180 fps stampede is probably still practical even to this day, letalone a decent 150 fps mod.
I worked my butt off to get this as a kid. Got paid $5 an hour to cut metal on the band saw in my dads shop. It didn’t last long though and a few months later at my birthday party the gearbox stopped working
I have a stampede and it was EPIC! Until it stopped working probably because the gearbox broke. ALSO it had a sort of recoil because of the spring... very very nice

The “50” is from the original release of the stampede, the original release of the stampede was to include it with a n-strike 50 round drum mag. But they never released that version and yet still decided to include to 50 as a Easter egg.
The best part of the stampede is the sound it makes when firing darts.
It is pretty amazing.

I remember seeing the commercial for the Stampede, and ever since then I've wanted one.
The music on this video is great. I got to say one thing though. This blaster is from 2010. Nerf Footballs go back to the 1980's and 1990's. That's what put Nerf on the map first. We played with foam footballs to the whistle footballs.

I started thrifting for the stampede, I had lost a bid for one on eBay and I KNEW I must own one, after a bit under a year I finally obtained one for a good price at a thrift store, no corrosion or anything, I love it. But my friend took it from me :( I plan on getting him back tomorrow

I still got my og first production year stampede in my attic and still remember the day i bought it and the vulcan at once and how amazed i was by the range and rate of fire out of the box

The stampede doesn't have a rev up time, so, unlike the rapidstrike, the stampede can be used in a stealth environment much like a Springer, so it will fire a dart without the delay of a flywheel and not make any noise until the dart is on its way out of the blaster.

I bought my stampede for 8 bucks at the thrift store. I had ALWAYS wanted one, so now I'm going to end up spending like 50 bucks on a spring, trustfires, a charger, and a battery pack, and some other little do-dads
so that is where modern warfare found the bipod foregrip for the SCAR lol
The stampede with a 24volt mood is actually faster and better preforming than a hyperfire. This old is better than the new!
Doing my first battery upgrage..stampede..which went nicely..next a spring upgrade on my Sonic Stampede. Got a couple of standard ones I can use for parts if I blow up the Sonic. I believe the Sonic Stampede is the coolest looking blaster Nerf released. Thank you for the Tag Back!

How to make brass gears: you need a furnace, empty bullet shells, foamboard, and a bucket of sand. First, melt the shells in furnace. Then, trace the gears on foam and cut out. Bury the foam in the sand. Make a hole to it, and poor the brass into it. Let it cool. ENJOY

YES, I have two Stampedes and love them. I don't do Nerf wars, I do props-- and the Stampede can fit nicely with only small mods into any gaming or fantasy universe-- Mass Effect, Halo, Star Wars, Bioshock, Doom, ANY of them, and the Stampede is a safe winner with just small mods and/or paint.

I guess they did finally decide use that 50 dart drum, since that patent is identical to the one released with the Titan.

this is my favorite n-strike blaster ever
lost plastic casting, pretty easy, make a foundry, better spring and batteries with a minimization, outperforms a rapid strike with no rev up time.
18 x 3 = 54, + 6 = 60. That's probably why they included the 6 round clip.

The Rapidstrike is easier to make competitive, but the Stampede's maximum potential is greater.
Stampedes could get higher firepower and range because flywheels risk dart skippage at high RPMs, even when textured and tilted.
That being said, it is a MASSIVE amount of work and money to get a Stampede there.

I just got a Stampede, it is the energizer bunny of blasters, it keeps going and going. NFStrike has a replacement gear kit with an upgraded spring for $28 that I am considering, along with a battery upgrade. No cool like old school, and the Stampede is old school cool.
The 50 round magazine is coming out with the titan cs 50 , paint it yellow and be ready to rock a prototype

To solve the gearbox problem you could make a gearbox with metal parts. I don't know if any companies made a gear box replacement for the stampede, but it wouldn't hurt to look.
